Denver Restaurant Week offers opportunity to try new cuisines, such as Filipino food
At Magna Kainan, Chef de Cuisine Jodee Reyes has some Filipino specialties on the grill. "We are acidic ... umami. We're the kind of food that you want to keep eating even though you're very full," Reyes told CBS News Colorado. Filipino food is gaining popularity in the United States, and Chef Reyes is thrilled to bring it to Denver. "I really had a passion to come back to what I grew up eating because those were the happiest times of my life, you know, spending time with family," she explained. Magna Kainan opened in November, so this is its first time participating in Denver Restaurant Week. "Our biggest goal is just to let people know that Filipino cuisine is really good," Reyes said. Since opening, the menu at Magna Kainan has been a gentle introduction to Filipino food. "Just to get people a little familiar with our flavor profiles," Reyes said Restaurant Week marks the start of a menu that fully explores the deeper Filipino favors, and Reyes hopes that everyone comes out to give it a try. Denver Restaurant Week is organized by VISIT Denver and runs through March 16, 2025

Denver Restaurant Week celebrates 21 years
The next 10 days are a great time to discover a Denver restaurant to make your favorite. State of play: Denver Restaurant Week begins Friday and goes through March 16 with chefs across the city offering multi-course menus at special prices to lure you in the door. Meals range from $25 to $55 and reservations are expected to go quickly. The big picture: The annual celebration of Denver's restaurant scene comes at a precarious time for the industry, with closures mounting by the day and a loud fight at the state Capitol about how to remedy the situation. Dig in: To generate a little inspiration, we combed through the menus and picked our standouts for the week: John: The approachable atmosphere and food at Dio Mio in RiNo make it an easy pick for a weeknight meal, and the white chicken ragu with sage and fried prosciutto sounds like a treat. Alayna: RiNo's lively Magna Kainan is offering a three-course meal showcasing refined, wood-fired Filipino comfort food. I'm eyeing the sinigang — a tamarind broth brimming with mussels — and the bibingka, a rice cake with smoked gouda and salted egg caramel. Esteban: The food at Champagne Tiger pairs nicely with the upscale cocktail lounge vibe at this relatively new East Colfax restaurant and bar. I'd go with the maitake mushroom linguine.

VISIT Denver will kickoff Denver Restaurant Week on March 7, 2025. It's 10-days of multi-course meals at low prices. There are more than 300 restaurants participating this year. It's a true celebration of Denver's culinary scene. Last year there were 264 restaurants offering Restaurant Week menus. This year, 311 restaurants have signed up which indicates there are a lot of new menus to choose from. Some of the new restaurants participating this year include Magna Kainan in RiNo, Gusto in Sloan's Lake, Le Colonial in Cherry Creek North, Church and Union downtown, Kumoya in the Highlands, and Ajax in Downtown Denver. All of them hoping to bring in some new diners and spread the word about their food. Restaurant Week is not just in Denver either. There are restaurants participating throughout the Denver Metro Area including all the way up to Boulder. So regionally, diners can find a good deal near them. VISIT Denver has created a new Diner Account which allows users to keep track of their Restaurant Week experience. "You can sign up for free. You just register [on the website]. Then you can go in, you can click your favorite restaurants. Then on your 'favorite list,' you can mark the ones that you actually went to. Then if you want, if you have a favorite restaurant you can share it on social media," said Flavia Light, Vice President and Chief Tourism Development Officer for VISIT Denver. "Then, next year when you go back to the portal, you can see what you did this year, so you can choose different restaurants next year." Denver Restaurant Week runs from March 7 - 16, 2025.
