Janmashtami celebrated with fervour in Hubballi-Dharwad
Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with fervour in twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad on Saturday, with scores of devotees thronging the temples and participating in various events organised as part of the festival. Children, accompanied by their parents and dressed as Sri Krishna and Radha, participated in the celebrations. At some venues, participants took part in a contest to break the pot of curd. The winners were rewarded with prizes. Devotees thronged the Shivakrishna Mandir in Hubballi, ISKCON temple, and other places to offer puja. Rituals were performed and various programmes were held as part of two-day celebrations at the ISKCON Temple. A large number of devotees thronged the temple to take part in rituals that began at 4.30 a.m. On the day of Janmashtami, 108 delicacies, prepared by devotees, were offered to the Lord. A 155-kg laddu, prepared from pure desi ghee, by Bhairu Caterers Hubballi, became the highlight among the offerings. Cultural performances of music and dance by artists from Hubbali-Dharwad were staged, enthralling the audience. During the Mahabhishekam, the idols of the dieties were ceremonially bathed in sandalwood oil, panchagavya, panchamrita, fruit juices, and gem-infused water, in a series of rituals that continued till midnight. ISKCON Hubbali-Dharwad president, Rajiv Lochan Dasa, delivered a short discourse on the significance of Lord Krishna's appearance and His divine pastimes. Cultural programmes were also held in various residential areas.

Grand Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations planned at ISKCON Temple in Hubballi
Various rituals and programmes will be held at ISKCON Temple located in between Hubballi and Dharwad for three days as part of Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations on Friday and Saturday. Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on Wednesday, president of Hubballi Dharwad ISKCON Rajiv Lochan Dasa said that grand celebrations have been planned on the temple premises and accordingly, arrangements are being made. Rajiv Lochan Dasa said that the rituals at the temple will begin at 4.30 a.m. and through the day and night, there will be various rituals and programmes on both the days. Also, there will be cultural programmes by various troupes. He said that the Mahabhishekam as part of Sri Krishna Janmashtami will begin at 9.30 p.m. on Saturday. The Mahabhishekam will conclude with Mahamangalarati at midnight to signify the birth of Lord Krishna, he said. He said that NWKRTC and Bendre Transport Service have agreed to operate special buses between 11 p.m. and 1.30 a.m. on Saturday for the benefit of the devotees. Rajiv Lochan Dasa said that on Sunday, the 129th appearance day of the founder of ISKCON Swami Prabhupada will be celebrated through various rituals and programmes. Vice-president of Hubballi Dharwad ISKCON Raghottam Dasa was present.
