₹2,569 cr. worth development works to be launched at Sadhana Samavesha in Mysuru on July 19
Development works worth ₹2,569 crore for Mysuru city will be inaugurated and foundation stones will be laid on July 19 during Sadhana Samavesha in Mysuru, said Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa. Addressing a press conference after inspecting the arrangements at Maharaja College Grounds – the venue of the Samavesha - on Wednesday, Dr. Mahadevappa said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the works that have already been implemented and lay foundation stones for the new ones. 'All put together, the total value of the works is ₹2,569 crore,' he said. These works are in addition to development projects worth ₹2,493 crore that were either inaugurated or for which foundation stones were laid in the six taluks, including H.D. Kote, T. Narasipur, and Periyapatna, a few months ago, the Minister added. 'The Opposition claims the State has no money for development. If that is the case, how are these works being taken up? I can provide documents on the projects implemented and the amount spent,' he asserted. Dr. Mahadevappa said no other government has brought such large-scale development, particularly to Mysuru city. 'It is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who has sanctioned maximum funds for the region,' he maintained. Key projects listed for the launch and laying foundation stones include ₹502 crore for white-topping and other works under PWD; ₹419 crore for an irrigation project at Heggadanahalli; ₹408 crore for underground electricity cabling by CESC; ₹330 crore for UGD works under Mysuru City Corporation; ₹192 crore for the Unity Mall at the exhibition grounds (State is providing only land to the Centre for the work), and ₹100 crore for new facilities at Mysore Medical College. He said AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge has been invited to the Samavesha. On expanding K.R. Hospital with sharp increase in patient load, Dr. Mahadevappa said vertical development is possible only if building bylaws are altered, since high-rise structures are not permitted in the vicinity of the palace. 'The bylaws are under consideration,' he replied. He also acknowledged the increasing patient load at Jayadeva Institute in Mysuru, attributing it to lifestyle changes leading to rising health issues. The expansion of the facility will also be looked into, he added. Former Minister and MLA Tanveer Sait, MLA K. Harish Gowda, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, DCPs Sundar Raj and Bindu Rani, and local Congress leaders were present. Earlier, the Minister inspected the venue and spoke to the officials on the arrangements. Dr. Mahadevappa said nearly one lakh people are expected to attend the event.

No ‘Super CM' in Karnataka, says Mahadevappa
Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa on Wednesday dismissed the Opposition's criticism referring to AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala as the 'Super CM' of Karnataka. He clarified that the State has only one Chief Minister. Responding to remarks over Mr. Surjewala's one-to-one meetings with Ministers, Dr. Mahadevappa, who is the Social Welfare Minister and a close confidante of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, told reporters in Mysuru, 'Mr. Surjewala is the party in charge for Karnataka and he has the authority to meet Ministers and MLAs. There is no extra constitutional authority in the State as alleged by the Opposition.' He further stated that there was no opposition to Mr. Surjewala holding such meetings. 'Even I met him after returning from Indi. These efforts are aimed at ensuring the stability of the government and the Congress returning to power again,' he added. Criticising the Centre for violating protocol during the inauguration of the Sigandur bridge, Dr. Mahadevappa said, 'The Centre should have written to the Chief Secretary seeking the Chief Minister's time for the inaugural event. We live in a parliamentary democracy where coordination between the State and the Centre is crucial for development. If both work together, it will ensure rapid progress.' He termed the inauguration of the bridge without the Chief Minister as an unhealthy practice in parliamentary democracy. 'Had the Chief Minister been invited and attended, it would have added greater significance to the event,' he observed. Dr. Mahadevappa alleged there was 'pressure' on the Centre from the State BJP to inaugurate the bridge without the Chief Minister's presence. He claimed that the vision for constructing the bridge was that of the State government. 'A DPR was prepared for the bridge way back in 2013 based on public feedback. I had requested the Centre then to consider it under the Sagarmala project as the estimated cost was ₹480 to ₹520 crore. Now that NHAI has implemented the project, it is ultimately the State's vision,' he asserted.

Mahadevappa denies Sadhana Samavesha is Siddaramaiah's show of strength
Amidst speculation about a possible leadership change and rift among top Congress leaders, Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa on Wednesday dismissed suggestions that the upcoming Sadhana Samavesha in Mysuru on July 19 is intended as a 'show of strength' by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on his home turf. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the venue of Sadhana Samavesha along with Congress leaders, Dr. Mahadevappa, downplayed questions about whether the event was aimed at projecting the Chief Minister's dominance amidst ongoing political developments. 'This is an event to highlight the development works undertaken in the State under the leadership of Mr. Siddaramaiah. I do not want to bring politics into this programme,' he said. He added, 'People in Karnataka gave strength to the Congress by bringing it to power in 2023. That is enough for us and there is no need to display our strength. People (Opposition) may say whatever they want, but our focus is on developing the State.' Refuting allegations over lack of funds for development due to guarantee schemes, Dr. Mahadevappa said that the government is implementing welfare and development programmes effectively despite false propaganda by the Opposition.
