Kendriya Vidyalaya students celebrate Raksha Bandhan with soldiers

A batch of 25 girl students of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya -2 in the Military Cantonment area celebrated Raksha Bandhan with Agniveers, soldiers and officers at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Belagavi on Friday. The students, accompanied by their teachers, visited the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude and respect towards the brave soldiers and Agniveers of the Indian Army for their service to the nation. The students tied handcrafted rakhis on the wrists of soldiers, offered sweets and conveyed their love and admiration for the armed forces. The atmosphere was filled with emotion and patriotism as slogans like Vande Mataram and Jai Hind echoed through the regiment's premises. School principal Mahendra Kalra said that this initiative was meant to instill a sense of respect, discipline and patriotism in students, while also connecting them emotionally with the protectors of the nation. 'Raksha Bandhan is not just a festival of siblings but also a symbol of emotional bonding with those who protect us selflessly,' he remarked. The officers of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre appreciated the thoughtful gesture by the school students, stating that such interactions boost the morale of the troops, especially those far from their families. The Agniveers expressed that receiving rakhis from the children makes them feel valued and emotionally supported in their service to the nation. This meaningful initiative not only nurtured empathy and national pride among students but also revived the cultural essence of Raksha Bandhan, a celebration of protection, commitment and love, said a release.

Central school celebrates Environment Day in the name of mother

World Environment Day and 'A Tree for Mother' programme were organized at the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2 in the military cantonment in Belagavi on Thursday. Students and parents participated in the 'A Tree for Mother' event. On this special occasion, the school community paid tribute to motherhood by bringing alive the sentiment of planting a sapling in the name of mother. During the programme, 50 saplings were planted, with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and mothers alike. Each sapling was dedicated to mother, making the event a deeply personal and lasting memory, said a release. The objective of this initiative was to honor the nurturing spirit of mothers by planting a tree in their name, thereby contributing to a greener planet. 'Just as a mother gives life, protects and shapes the future of children, so too do trees sustain life,' principal Mahendra Kalra said. 'When emotions connect with nature, every action becomes a movement,' he said. He encouraged everyone to take a pledge to care for these saplings and nurture them into mighty banyan trees.

Central school celebrates India's language diversity

The Bhartiya Bhasha Summer Camp was inaugurated at the PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2 in the Military Cantonment of Belagavi on Monday, with the theme — A Step Towards Honoring the Diversity of Indian Languages. The week-long camp will spread the message that language is not just a means of communication but it is also a powerful mirror of culture, identity and national unity. The camp is being organised as per the initiative of the Union Ministry of Education. 'The objective of this innovative camp is to introduce students to India's rich linguistic diversity, foster love for different languages and promote cultural inclusivity,' principal Mahendra Kalra said. 'India's unity lies in its linguistic diversity. When children learn new languages, they are not just learning words, they are learning thoughts, emotions and culture. This camp is a beautiful confluence of unity and diversity,' he said. Each day, the delegates will focus on two Indian languages, with a variety of engaging activities. These will include not only language learning but also experiential learning through presentations on traditional music, folk arts, paintings, cuisine, history and geography of the respective States. This approach will help students gain both linguistic skills and a deeper cultural understanding. On the first day of the camp, students learned common greetings in Marathi and Kannada. These were enthusiastically presented through colourful posters. Students also performed to the tunes of traditional folk music from the respective States and showcased cultural elements through drawings while wearing traditional attire. The camp includes storytelling, dialogue presentations, poster displays, dance and music performances and food exhibitions — activities that promote the holistic development of students. The active participation of both teachers and students is turning this initiative into a festive celebration. During the week, students will be introduced to languages like English, Marathi, Kannada and Hindi. Through this effort, they will not only learn to respect linguistic diversity but also imbibe the spirit of unity in diversity, which is the essence of India, said a release.
