Double murder: NSA slapped against two
Lucknow: In connection with the brutal killings of Rohit Lodhi (24) and Manoj Rajput (23) on March 21, 2025, in Kakori, the Lucknow Police on Sunday invoked the National Security Act (NSA) against the key accused, Mahendra Kumar, and his accomplice, Vineet Kumar. The murder came to light after a complaint was filed on March 22 by Ramesh Kumar Lodhi, father of victim Rohit, at the Kakori police station. Investigation revealed that Mahendra Kumar, a 2018-batch police constable, and Vineet Kumar were the main culprits. Mahendra was arrested on March 23, and Vineet on March 28. DCP, West Zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava, said that Mahendra Kumarorchestrated an elaborate plan to commit the murders and evade detection. Using a fake identity under the name Mohammed Idris, he procured two SIM cards—one for himself and another for his wife. However, On the day of the murder, she inadvertently made a call from her personal mobile number to Mahendra, which was traced near the crime location.
