Buxar: Anshul Agarwal on Thursday directed the assistant engineer of the building division in to ensure that the construction of the campus of a 520-bed Backward Classes (BC) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) Girls' Residential +2 High School at Adfa is completed by June 30. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The DM further ordered the engineer to complete the work on the administrative building and one hostel at least, besides procuring all equipment such as benches and desks by May 31, and ensure that it be handed over to the district BC and EBC welfare officer. During an inspection of the school campus under construction, the DM found the work to be slow, and instructed the assistant engineer to deduct the contractor's fee in proportion to the delay. The district BC and EBC welfare officer and Dumraon subdivisional officer were directed to regularly inspect the construction and monitor its progress. The school, being built under the aegis of BC and EBC welfare department at a cost of over Rs 47 crore, will impart education from Class VI to XII on the lines of a residential school. Housing, food and other facilities will be provided by the govt. The amount for uniforms and books will be given to the girls through DBT, said Buxar DM. Currently, the school is operating from the Extremely Backward Residential Girls' Hostel of Mahadah in Buxar, and only classes from Class VI to IX are held. During the inspection, Buxar DDC Mahendra Pal was also present.

MNREGA implementation: Buxar ranks first in state

Buxar: Buxar district secured first place in Bihar for MGNREGA implementation, according to rankings released by the state rural development department on Saturday. Buxar deputy development commissioner (DDC) Mahendra Pal said the rankings were based on 14 parameters, where Buxar achieved a score of 84.84 marks in March 2025. These parameters included completion of playgrounds, man-day creation, participation of women and scheduled caste/tribe families, survival and inspection rates of tree plantation schemes, payment of wages under housing schemes, timely labour payments, use of mobile attendance apps, prioritisation of natural resource management and agriculture-based works, Aadhaar-based payments, and inspections conducted via the Area Officer App. "Buxar is already ranked first in the state for Aadhaar-based payments and playground completion," said Pal, adding that 108 playground construction projects are underway across 94 panchayats in the district and 55 playgrounds have already been completed. Against a target of creating 49 lakh man-days, Buxar achieved 54 lakh, reflecting 110% success. Timely wage payment stands at 98% and Aadhaar seeding for all job card holders has been completed. Ninety-eight percent of payments have also been made through Aadhaar-based transactions. Altogether 2,912 housing beneficiaries have received wages for 90 days under MGNREGA. Participation rates have been ensured with 30% from scheduled caste/tribe communities and 50% from women. Ninety-one per cent of tree plantation schemes contribute towards livelihood enhancement. "Buxar DM Anshul Agarwal regularly holds review meetings and directs that 100% targets be achieved in all dimensions of MGNREGA implementation," said Pal.
