RUHS begins post-mortem facility for medico legal cases

Jaipur: RUHS Hospital has started facilities for conducting post-mortem of bodies. Post-mortem reports will be prepared online on the Medleap portal and submitted on time to the police station and the court, ensuring timely submission and maintaining confidentiality. All relevant doctors and staff have been trained for this. Medical education secretary Ambrish Kumar said that due to the lack of post-mortem facilities at RUHS Hospital, bodies from RUHS and other nearby private hospitals were taken to Jaipuria Hospital or SMS Hospital. This resulted in significant delays in post-mortems for medico-legal cases, causing inconvenience to families and the concerned police station. Addressing this issue, post-mortem facilities have now been started at RUHS Hospital itself. This will ensure timely post-mortems in medico-legal cases, providing convenience to families and the police. RUHS superintendent Dr Mahesh Mangal said that recently, a woman from the Pratapnagar area committed suicide by hanging, and a young man died from consuming a poisonous substance. Both cases were brought to RUHS Hospital, and post-mortems were conducted.

Docs remove 2 coin from 5-yr-old boy's food pipe

Jaipur: Doctors at RUHS Hospital successfully removed a Rs 2 coin lodged in the esophagus of a five-year-old boy during an emergency operation Wednesday night. The child was brought to the hospital with severe throat pain and persistent vomiting. Upon conducting an endoscopy, doctors found the coin stuck in his esophagus. The boy was immediately shifted to the emergency operation theatre, where the coin was removed under general anesthesia using an endoscope. Prof Dr Raghav Mehta, who led the ENT team, said, "A coin stuck in the esophagus is extremely dangerous. Any delay could have blocked the airway and proved fatal. Fortunately, the procedure was successful, and the child is now stable." RUHS Hospital superintendent Dr Mahesh Mangal said the boy had swallowed the coin while playing. "The quick response of his parents and the hospital team helped prevent a serious outcome," he added. TNN

Video - 'I've Been Bit, Help': Rajasthan Man Walks Into Hospital Holding Huge Snake

Panic gripped a hospital in Jaipur when a man walked in holding a bag with a large snake and said he needed treatment because the reptile had bitten him. "This snake bit me, please treat me quickly," the man told the staff at the hospital. The incident, which happened four to five days ago, was caught on camera and the video is now going viral on social media. The medical superintendent of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Dr Mahesh Mangal, said the man came into the hospital carrying the snake. Officials at the hospital said staff, patients and their relatives were shocked and scared after they saw the snake. "The staff members handled the situation and got the man admitted. His family members then took the snake away," said an official. "The man said he got the snake with him so it could be identified and we could tell whether it was poisonous or not," he added. A similar incident was reported in Bihar's Bhagalpur last year, when a man walked into a hospital with a Russell's Viper, one of the most poisonous snakes in the world. The man, Prakash Mandal, grabbed the snake by its mouth, wrapped it around his neck and went to the hospital, leaving doctors and patients stunned. Even when he was being taken for treatment, he refused to let go of the snake. Mr Mandal relented only when he was told it would be difficult to treat him until he released the reptile.
