BOJ survey signals resilience in Japanese business mood

TOKYO -- Business sentiment among large Japanese manufacturers improved for the first time in two quarters in the April-June period, according to the latest survey by the country's central bank.
The Bank of Japan on Tuesday released its quarterly Tankan survey, with the headline diffusion index (DI) among large manufacturers coming in at 13, slightly up compared with plus 12 in January-March. The median forecast in a QUICK survey of economists was plus 10.
