Jennifer Lopez quizzed about being 'afraid' of Diddy in resurfaced interview amid his bombshell sex-trafficking trial
Jennifer Lopez made about her ex-boyfriend Diddy in a 2002 interview have resurfaced amid the music mogul's bombshell sex trafficking trial. The rapper, 55, is currently on trial after pleading not guilty to allegations of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; racketeering conspiracy; and transportation to engage in prostitution. A year after their 2001 split, Lopez, 55, reflected on the romance in a Primetime: Special Edition interview with Diane Sawyer who asked her if she was 'afraid' during the relationship. Lopez replied she was not frightened and insisted the relationship was merely not a good fit for her. The video, posted by the Instagram account feltitagain on Sunday, was captioned 'Remember this J-lo interview # Jenniferlopez #jlo and #pdiddy #seancombs #puffy #hoodmemes #hoodnews #plot #love.' The topic of Diddy came up in the interview with a montage of the pair during happier times as Sawyer lamented in a voiceover, 'And what about Sean Combs, Puffy, P Diddy, the man who courted controversy if not outright danger? He always seemed to be the one in control. We wondered, looking at the girl on the red carpet, who was she?' The then-couple dated from 1999 to 2001; pictured 1999 But the relationship is clearly in the rearview mirror for Lopez, who was spotted attending Ring Them Bells! A Celebration for John Kander on Monday amid her ex's trial Diane then asks Lopez, 'Was she afraid?', referring to the Maid In Manhattan star. 'Um, no, I don't think she was afraid, I just think that I, at that time was uh, cared very deeply for Sean, and you know we just... didn't have the same kind of ideals about life and family and stuff like that,' she said. 'It just wasn't a good relationship for me. It didn't have so much to do with him as it had to do with me at the time. 'I had to learn to care about myself a little bit more and put up certain boundaries of what I would accept and wouldn't accept because really he was just being himself. 'He wasn't doing anything wrong, and he felt like he loved me very much and I know he did and I felt like the same way. So if I was unhappy in some way, then I was the one who had to do something. Not him. He was doing everything he wanted to do.' The pair's romance first began in 1999 while Jennifer was preparing for the release of her debut album, On The 6, which Sean helped produce. During their relationship, Jennifer debuted her most famous outfit during the Grammy Awards ceremony in 2000. The green silk chiffon dress from Versace was super low-cut, barely covering her cleavage. But the couple also hit headlines after Jennifer and Sean were arrested on December 27, 1999 following a shooting at a nightclub. The singer and then-boyfriend Diddy were at Club New York in Manhattan on December 27, 1999, when gunfire broke out inside the venue. The music mogul was accused of firing a gun in the shootout that left three people injured, including Natania Reuben, who was struck in the face but miraculously survived. Both JLo and Diddy were arrested in relation to the incident, but Lopez was not charged and Combs was later acquitted. He was ultimately acquitted on all charges. But the relationship is obviously in the rearview mirror for JLo, who couldn't have looked any happier as she enjoyed a very glamorous night on the town on Tuesday. The songstress was dressed to the nines for an evening at Ring Them Bells, a benefit concert celebrating songwriter John Kander's 98th birthday. The Selena star looked absolutely radiant as she arrived to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in Midtown Manhattan, working her magic in a feathered orange sweater and glossy skirt. She brushed her long, silky hair to the side as she breezed down the street with a bedazzled clutch in hand. The If You Had My love singer looked immaculate with a dramatic coat of smoky eye shadow, bronze blush, and lip gloss. The outing comes amid her ex's widely-watched trial. Diddy's ex-girlfriend Cassandra 'Cassie' Ventura delivered horrifyingly graphic testimonies the first week of the trial alleging that the music mogul physically and psychologically abused her over more than a decade from 2007-2018. The 38-year-old detailed the regular beatings she allegedly experienced, the rapper's alleged use of blackmail and scare tactics to coerce and manipulate, depraved sex acts she claims she was forced to participate in - and the medical toll she suffered as a result. A male escort allegedly hired by Combs to engage in a variety of sexual acts with Ventura during his notorious 'freak off' parties also took the stand to explain how 'Diddy' purportedly pushed Ventura into unprotected sex with strangers and orchestrated various sexual encounters for his own pleasure. In response, lawyers for Combs sought to portray Ventura as a willing and eager participant in the music mogul's sexual lifestyle. His defence says that, while he is guilty of domestic violence, nothing he did amounted to a criminal enterprise.

Jennifer Lopez Reportedly Bought New Home To Distance Herself From 'The Hustle And Bustle' Of L.A.
Jennifer Lopez recently acquired a sprawling new home in the Hidden Hills neighborhood of California. Reports have revealed that the singer made the move to enjoy "a more relaxed environment" after speculations that she wanted to get away from her ex-husband, Ben Affleck. Ben Affleck also recently opened up on his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, explaining that it was "drama-free" but refused to disclose the reason they separated, saying it was "embarrassing." Lopez's new property, which spans 2.5 acres and boasts a 10,046-square-foot main house, along with a guest house, barn, stables, a riding arena, and a pool, is said to be an hour away from Affleck's Brentwood home, which he paid $20.5 million for last July. However, a source told the Daily Mail that the reason Lopez decided to settle far away from L.A. is not because she's keeping her distance from the "Argo" actor and his family. "Jennifer wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and have a more relaxed home life in Hidden Hills," the source said. "It has nothing to do with getting away from Ben and his family and Jennifer and their kids. She is OK with them. It is about being in a more relaxed environment." They added, "She bought a home in a gated community where there are security personnel and cameras everywhere, it's extremely safe. This way, she doesn't have to worry if Max rides his bicycle down a street or if Emme goes for a walk with a friend." Lopez's new acquisition comes months after she finalized her divorce from the "Accountant 2" actor. The "Maid In Manhattan" actress filed to divorce the Oscar winner last August but had to wait until January to settle the split as their assets posed a setback to negotiations. According to People Magazine, she's understood to have been looking for a new home since April, which coincided with the time she stated in her divorce filing as their date of separation. She initially set her eyes on a "truly exceptional" Beverly Hills home that was situated on a quiet street with several A-list neighbors. However, she has now chosen to settle for her new residence for its serenity and security. Meanwhile, Lopez and Affleck's $68 million marital home continues to sit on the market. The couple bought the property for $60 million in June 2023 but have struggled to secure a buyer following their split. Affleck moved into his $20.5 million Bachelor pad in Los Angeles in July 2024. The mansion boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms, breakfast and dining areas, and a separate family room. The property also has a den, walk-in closets, a media room, a powder room, and a guest house. Early on, when his marriage with Lopez started crumbling, the actor moved out of their marital home and stayed at a $100,000-per-month Brentwood rental property close to his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. In a conversation with GQ Magazine for its April edition cover story, Affleck opened up on his divorce from Lopez, where he addressed claims that her "Greatest Love Story Never Told" documentary about their life "caused some fractures" in their marriage. Although the "Good Will Hunting" star admitted that his "temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private" than his ex-wife's, he added that he did it regardless because he loves and supports her. "And I think it's important to say that wasn't the cause of some major fracture. It's not like you can watch that documentary and go, 'Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had,'" the actor explained. Affleck further explained that their break up was "drama-free," despite reports suggesting at some points that they struggled to divide up their assets. He explained to the news outlet that "there's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue" behind their breakup, but wouldn't share details about it because it was "just sort of embarrassing." Despite going their separate ways, Affleck went further to share that he still maintains "respect" for his ex-wife. "There's a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something," he said. "But honestly ... the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting." He also shared that he has noticed, as he "gets older," that "there is no 'So-and-so did this' or 'This was the big event.'" Rather, "It sounds more like a couple's therapy session, which — you would tune out of someone else's couple's therapy after a while." "For one thing, you start going, 'Okay, clearly this person has got these issues. Clearly, they have these issues.' And the reason I don't want to share that is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable," he explained.
