ADILABAD: The last rites of Maoist leader Mailarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar, who was killed in an encounter in the Chhattisgarh, were held on in Pochera village in the district on Monday. After 35 years of armed struggle, Adellu fell to police gunfire. Thousands of people from various regions gathered to pay their last respects. Adellu, who took to the forests three and a half decades ago for the cause of oppressed communities and rose to prominence in the revolutionary movement, returned home lifeless, leaving villagers in deep sorrow. His family members were inconsolable. Members of the Maoist relatives' committee expressed their grief, saying they could not fathom the loss of the revolutionary leader. Thousands marched along the bier, holding red flags and chanting 'Mailarapu Adellu Amar Hai.' Demand to Halt Operation Kagar Boath MLA Anil Jadhav stated that Operation Kagar was being conducted under the guise of fake encounters to eliminate Bahujan revolutionaries. He paid his respects to Adellu's body and assured his family of his support. Representatives from revolutionary writers' associations, civil rights organizations, and the Maoist relatives' committee demanded an end to Operation Kagar and called for peace talks. During the final procession, Arunodaya artists sang revolutionary songs accompanied by drum beats. The three-hour-long funeral march saw around 3,000 attendees. Among those present were former SIKASA CEO Sudhakar alias Ushanna, civil rights leaders Gaddam Lakshman and Narayana Kumaraswamy, Tudum Debba leaders Ganesh and Renuka, former Maoist movement leaders Murali, Ajay, Ashok, Jyoti, Jaya, Srikanth, VIRASAM leader Pani, CPI leader Prabhakar Reddy, and Maoist relatives' committee leaders Padmakumari and Shantakka.

The last rites of CPI (Maoist) Telangana State committee member Bhaskar alias Mailarapu Adellu, who was killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on June 5, 2025, were held at his native Pochera village in Boath mandal of Adilabad district on Monday (June 9, 2025). According to sources, the body of the slain Maoist was brought to the village from Chhattisgarh in the wee hours of Monday. Scores of villagers, members of the Amara Veerula Bandhu Mithrula Sangham, civil rights groups, and various mass organisations took part in the funeral procession. Poignant scenes were witnessed at the funeral site as the grieving family members of the slain Maoist broke down during the last rites of the latter. Some of the members of the mass organisations displayed banners demanding immediate halt to Operation Kagar in Chhattisgarh and peace talks with Maoists.

As part of the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the National Park area of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, security forces have recovered the body of an high-ranking Maoist leader, who was killed during an encounter. His body was recovered on Friday, along with an AK-47 rifle, explosives and other arms and identification indicated the recovered body to be of Bhaskar Rao alias Mailarapu Adellu a member of the Telangana State Committee of the CPI (Maoist) outfit. advertisementBhaskar, a resident of Adilabad district in Telangana, was the Secretary of the Mancherial-Komarambheem (MKB) division of the Telangana State Committee of the CPI (Maoist) outfit. He was also a member of the Special Zonal Committee (SZC) of the Telangana State Committee and had a total bounty of Rs 45 lakh on him. This includes a bounty of Rs 25 lakh in Chhattisgarh and Rs 20 lakhs in Telangana. Earlier, on Thursday, the dead body of Central Committee member Gautam alias Sudhakar was recovered by the forces during the operation. An Ak-47 rifle was also recovered from him. Must Watch

Amid the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the Indravati National Park area of Bijapur district, the security forces on Friday killed top Naxalite leader Bhaskar, who carried a cumulative bounty of ₹ 45 lakh, reported PTI. According to the report, which quoted Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range Sundarraj, the security forces have recovered the dead body of Naxal Bhaskar, alias Mailarapu Adellu. Along with his body, the security forces have also recovered one AK-47 rifle and other explosives, weapons, and ammunition. The encounter of Bhaskar was part of the same anti-Naxal operation underway since Wednesday by personnel from the state police's Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG) as well as the CRPF's specialised unit CoBRA. "After the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a Naxalite along with one AK-47 rifle and other explosives, weapons, and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. Preliminary identification suggests the body is of Bhaskar alias Mailarapu Adellu, a special zonal committee (SZC) member of the Telangana State Committee (TSC) of the outlawed Maoists," PTI quoted the IG as saying. "Bhaskar, a resident of Adilabad district in Telangana, was the secretary of the Mancherial-Komarambheem (MKB) division of the TSC of Maoists. He carried a reward of ₹ 25 lakhs in Chhattisgarh and 20 lakhs in Telangana," the IG added. As per the details, this is the third big success attained by the security forces, as they killed senior Maoist cadre and Central Committee Member (CCM) Narasimha Chalam, alias Gautam, also known as Sudhakar, on 5 June. Earlier, CPI (Maoist) general secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju (70) was neutralised by security forces in the Bastar region.
