5 European Towns Where You Can Buy Property For Under $100K

Imagine owning a cozy stone house in Italy, a seaside escape on the Albanian Riviera, or a sun-drenched flat in Spain—each for less than the cost of a standard RV. As North American property prices continue to climb, parts of Europe are quietly offering up livable, lovable homes for under $100,000. The following five towns prove that you don't need deep pockets to live the European dream. Whether you're planning a fresh start abroad or just want a vacation home somewhere interesting, each offers affordability as well as culture. Seafront Promenade And Himare City Beach - Vlore, Albania, Europe Albania has long been a popular low-cost beach escape for European vacationers. Now, it's showing up on the radars of U.S. travelers—perhaps in part because of the attention that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are bringing to this Balkan nation. They've vacationed here in recent years and are currently developing a $1.4 billion luxury hotel on Sazan island. It's easy to understand Albania's appeal. It boasts a lively capital city, rugged mountain scenery, and a stunning coastline along the Adriatic and Ionian Seas of the Mediterranean. One of the most popular destinations is Vlorë, a coastal town along the Albanian Riviera with rich history and gorgeous beaches. Here, it's possible to buy property for $100,000—or perhaps much less. This nicely furnished, two-bedroom duplex is available for just over $77,742. This two-bedroom apartment that's about one block from the beach is for sale for just over $90,500. Authentic medieval beautiful villages (borgo) of Italy Italy is famous for its ultra-low-cost property. You can buy a home here for as little as 1 euro (or about US$1.13). Part of a scheme designed to bring new life to abandoned villages with aging populations, these 1-euro homes come with strings attached. Many are dilapidated and require heavy renovation that you must carry out within a set time period. It can be more straightforward and more affordable to buy a move-in-ready home for a higher price. Areas like Abruzzo, an underrated region of Southern Italy that has an abundance of national parks and a coastline along the Adriatic Sea, offer fantastic bargains on quality homes. Spacious homes that are full of character are available for well under $100,000 in Abruzzo. Take a look at this four-bedroom villa that's made of Majella stone in the hamlet of Bolognano. It's listed at $65,150. This three-bedroom townhouse with lake and mountain views in Bomba is for sale for about $73,000. Olvera is considered the gate of white towns route in the province of Cadiz, Spain Spain offers rich history, culture, gastronomy, art, and diverse landscapes that include snow-capped mountains, tropical islands, and Mediterranean and Atlantic beaches. Already a fan favorite with tourists, it's only rising in popularity and predicted to overtake France as the world's most visited country by 2040. Despite the high demand, you can buy low-cost property in non-brand-name regions of Spain, where day-to-day living costs are extremely affordable. In Cádiz Province in southwestern Spain, you find Olvera, one of the White Towns of Andalusia, where most of the buildings are whitewashed. Olvera has fantastically affordable property with scenic mountain views. Take a look at this three-bedroom townhouse that features one of the highest terraces in town with an almost 360-degree view. It's available for about $73,000. Saint Paul cathedral in Thessaloniki, Greece Greece is an iconic travel destination with ancient history, ruins steeped in lore, and picture-perfect Mediterranean beaches. It's set to explode in popularity with American travelers, with 21 more weekly direct flights to Greece from the U.S. compared to last year. Greece is also one of the few remaining EU countries that continues to offer a golden visa program with an option to qualify through the purchase of property. For amenities, vibrancy, and affordable property, Thessaloniki—Greece's second city—is worth your attention. It has ancient sites, fantastic food, and buzzing nightlife thanks to its large student population. You can buy a well-appointed property for under $100,000. This one-bedroom flat is on the market for $84,000. Eagle eye aerial view over the sea garden in Burgas, Bulgaria. Bulgaria is an under-the-radar country found in the eastern portion of the Balkans in Southeast Europe. It has a coastline on the Black Sea, and it shares borders with Greece, Turkey, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Romania—a geographic position that has influenced its fascinating history and culture. Bulgaria entered the EU in 2007, but it continues to use the Bulgarian lev as its currency. It has a reputation as one of the most affordable destinations in Europe, and it offers endless things to see and do, from Black Sea beaches to hiking in its many mountains to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and culture-rich cities. In Burgas, a city on the Black Sea Coast, you can buy an attractive apartment for well under $100,000. This attractive furnished studio is on the market for about $56,160. This more spacious two-bedroom apartment has resort-style shared amenities and is available for $98,500.

Daniel O'Donnell taking break from touring due to 'health challenges'

Daniel O'Donnell has announced he is taking an extended break from his busy entertainment career due to "health challenges". A spokesperson for the 63-year-old Co Donegal star said in a statement: "After much reflection, Daniel has decided to take an extended break from touring. "This decision was not made lightly, but it is driven by the health challenges he has faced over the past few years, particularly with allergies and recurrent chest infections while touring extensively." The spokesperson said Mr O'Donnell will continue his touring commitments until December 2025, but he has realised that he needs to step back and focus on his health and well-being. The spokesperson added: "This pause is essential for him to recharge and recover. He emphasises that 'this is not a retirement but rather a temporary break'." Early next year, the singer will host his annual Opry le Daniel shows on TG4. Additionally, in September 2026, he will perform, as he has for many years, on Gertrude Byrne's Mediterranean Cruise. These will be his only confirmed performances for the year. Mr O'Donnell and wife Majella now have four grandchildren. The latest grandchild, Jack, was born last month in Australia while Majella's daughter Siobhan and her husband Gavin also have Archie, Olivia and Luke. The star has already taken a number of such breaks over the years saying he wanted to take time out to spend it with his family. In 2014, he announced he would be taking a break from touring for personal reasons. The decision came after his wife Majella underwent successful treatment for breast cancer. In 2012, the singer marked 30 years in the music industry but then announced that he was cutting back on his touring commitments and schedule. A number of years earlier in 1992, he took a number of months off after admitting he faced physical and mental exhaustion due to his demanding schedule.
