Kayden Moy cops make second arrest over death of teen after Irvine beach tragedy
Another 17-year-old male has been detained. A second arrest has been made during the Kayden Moy murder probe. Police Scotland said another 17-year-old male has been detained in connection with the youngster's death. The 16-year-old, of East Kilbride, passed away after being seriously injured during a disturbance on Irvine beach, Ayrshire, on Saturday, May 17. And Police Scotland said today that a second arrest had been made in connection with the investigation, which remains ongoing. Now officers have descended on The Show Park in Kayden's home town of East Kilbride, some 30 miles away from Irvine Beach, while they carry out enquiries. A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: 'Officers are conducting enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of Kayden Moy in Irvine.' It comes as a 17-year-old was arrested and due to appear in court today in connection with Kayden's death. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court this afternoon. Tributes have been paid to tragic Kayden who has been described as already "sorely missed" by his family. Today Kayden's distraught mum Ashley broke her social media silence saying Kayden's death was an "unprecedented and painful chapter in our lives". The teenager's doting dad Paul previous described his son as "My man man, my everything". Police chiefs are still urging anyone with information to come forward. Following the news of his death, his heartbroken mum Ashley shared several pictures of her son on her beauty business account. The caption read: "My beautiful boy, sleep tight." In a further post on Facebook, Ashley wrote: "Paul and I are deeply grateful for the outpouring of heartfelt messages we've received. "With a heavy heart, I must inform you that all appointments are cancelled until further notice. This decision was not made lightly, but I need to be with my family as we navigate this unprecedented and painful chapter in our lives. A teenager has been now charged following the death of Kayden Moy. A 17-year-old boy has been charged following the death of a Scots boy in an alleged stabbing incident at Irvine beach. On Saturday, May 17, emergency crews were called to the Ayrshire beach at 6.45pm following reports of a seriously injured youth. Tragically, 16-year-old Kayden Moy of East Kilbride died in Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock a short time later. The 17-year-old has been arrested and now charged in connection with the death. He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 20. Police Scotland say extensive enquiries remain ongoing. Kayden's family has released the following statement: 'Kayden will be sorely missed by his parents and two younger brothers. 'He was loved by so many and that is shown in the huge number of heartfelt messages we have received since his death. 'We would like to thank everyone who has shown us support over these last few days." We previously told how his devastated dad Paul Moy led heartbreaking tributes to the youngster, with other relatives and friends sharing their own messages. He said: "My first born son, my big boy, my best friend, my main man, my everything., rest easy my boy." Kayden had been a pupil at Duncanrig Secondary School in East Kilbride where the school community remembered him fondly. Annette Alexander, the school's head teacher, said: "We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our former pupil, Kayden Moy. "Kayden was a kind and caring young man and full of character. He touched the lives of many within our school community. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Kayden's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. "He will be greatly missed, but he will always be remembered with affection in our school." The teen was a former youth player for Busby AFC. The club have been left "devastated" by his death. In a statement posted on social media, the team said: "Kayden played in our youth set-up for several years and it has hit everyone hard." The club has set up a GoFundMe appeal in memory of the teenager, which has already raised £9,425. The statement added: "We are aware that nothing will ever replace the life of an individual but we hope that this fundraising will help Kayden's family at this extremely difficult time." A South Lanarkshire Council spokesman said: "This has been a tragic event and our profound sympathies go out to Kayden's loved ones. "We are very much aware that it will have a wider impact on many people, including a number of our pupils. We will work with school staff to ensure that all appropriate supports are in place for anyone who needs them. "We will, of course, also provide every possible assistance to Police Scotland as they carry out their investigations." Detectives have set up a website where people can access a form to send information directly to the major investigation team, and anonymity can be maintained.
