Chase Burns by the numbers in 2025 MLB Speedway Classic

Atlanta (47-63) defeated Cincinnati (58-54), 4-2, Sunday in the Major League Baseball Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. The game was suspended due to rain on Saturday. The contest between Atlanta and Cincinnati, which began after a two-hour, 17-minute rain delay, was halted in the first inning with the Reds leading, 1-0. The game resumed Sunday in the bottom of the first inning with one out. Saturday was slated to be a showdown between two pitchers with Tennessee ties. Spencer Strider was scheduled to pitch for the Braves and former Vol Chase Burns was projected to pitch for Cincinnati. Burns (0-3) pitched one inning and retired the Braves' in batting order, recording two strikeouts. He totaled 18 pitches, including 11 strikes. Burns made his Major League Baseball debut on June 24 against the Yankees. MLB Speedway Classic was a Fyre Fest-like fail even before the rain

The Major League Baseball Speedway Classic came to an anti-climatic end Saturday evening after heavy rain turned the field into mush and forced the Cincinnati Reds versus Atlanta Braves game to be suspended after one inning. But according to different fan accounts on social media, the event was a giant mess even without the rain. From bun-less hot dogs to cheese-less nachos, Bristol Speedway was more akin to the Jones residence from the classic 1995 movie Friday than it was to a ballgame. "Y'all ain't never got two things that match!" One apparent attendee provided photos of the awful concession food on X, saying the game was "the MLB version of Fyre fest." Yikes. Seriously?? Who thought that was a good idea? And to make it worse, the speedway charged full price for the part-time food, according to the same fan. Other attendees also shared their bad experiences on social media, which ranged from the food completely running out to problems with parking. But hey, at least they get to try it again when the game resumes Sunday afternoon.
