Ministry of Economy participates in 4th ‘Make it in the Emirates' Forum to promote innovation and industrial sustainability
The Ministry of Economy participated in the fourth edition of the 'Make it in the Emirates' Forum, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade. Organized by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the event took place recently at ADNEC Centre, Abu Dhabi, under the theme 'Advanced Industries. Accelerated.' The forum seeks to foster innovation, boost economic diversification and industrial sustainability, and position the UAE as a global destination for future industries, while also encouraging investors, innovators, and project developers to localize manufacturing. H.E. Dr. Al Zeyoudi emphasized that the UAE, under the directives of its wise leadership, continues to foster a favorable trade and investment environment to support national industrial products in line with international best practices. The country aims to enhance the global and regional competitiveness of its products by strengthening economic partnerships with key strategic markets via the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPAs). These agreements play a crucial role in opening up new export opportunities and expanding market access for national industrial products, supporting the national goal of increasing non-oil exports to AED 800 billion by 2030, in line with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision. His Excellency stated: 'The forum serves as a key national platform for advancing the UAE's industrial sector, promoting partnerships in future industries, and sharing expertise in industrial design and relevant advanced technologies. This enhances our nation's transition into a sustainable knowledge and innovation-based economy.' H.E. added that the Ministry's participation reflects its commitment to supporting the national efforts aimed at creating an advanced industrial ecosystem and promoting sustainable growth. It also enables national industrial capabilities that contribute to developing high-quality local products capable of competing in global markets. Furthermore, the Ministry's participation in the forum aligns with its goal to enhance the benefits of its 'Green Intellectual Property' initiative that integrates intellectual property into sustainability, green energy, and clean energy sectors. At its forum pavilion, the Ministry showcased its projects and initiatives related to intellectual property, innovation, and industrial sustainability, underscoring its support for entrepreneurs and startups seeking to expand into advanced industrial markets from the UAE, as well as the various opportunities it offers in this regard. The Ministry's participation also contributed to enhancing engagement with private sector companies operating in industrial sectors locally and internationally, encouraging them to grow their businesses and product lines within the UAE market by leveraging the country's enabling business environment.

The ASATEER project, supported by the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED), has been awarded the 'Emirati Traditional Crafts' at the fourth edition of the 'Make it in the Emirates' Forum, recognising its innovative contributions and significant role in advancing the UAE's entrepreneurial and creative landscape. The judging panel at this prestigious forum, which is recognised as the UAE's premier industrial gathering that congregates entrepreneurs and innovators across diverse sectors, commended the project for its cultural resonance, originality, and potential to enhance the UAE's local economy while contributing to the advancement of the design industry. Mohammed Rashed AlSuwaidi, founder of ASATEER, expressed his immense pride in receiving this recognition, attributing the project's success to the steadfast support provided by KFED. He stated: 'This recognition inspires us to further strengthen our footprint in the local market and explore new growth opportunities, whether through strategic collaborations or financial partnerships.' AlSuwaidi added: 'Our products are deeply rooted in Emirati heritage, inspired by the legacy of the UAE's founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. We are committed to sharing our culture, both its authenticity and modern evolution, with the world through premium craftsmanship. Qatar's undersecretary advocates for robust industrial alliances at Abu Dhabi event
QNA Doha Mohammed bin Hassan Al-Malki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, took part in the 'Make it in the Emirates' Forum, held in Abu Dhabi on 19-22 May 2025. During the forum, he highlighted the State of Qatar's efforts to foster partnerships and advance sustainable industrial integration regionwide. Speaking at a panel discussion titled 'Integrating Transnational Supply Chains: International Industrial Alliances and Partnerships,' Al-Malki emphasised that Qatar's national manufacturing strategy 2024-2030 aligns closely with the UAE's vision of enhancing regional industrial cooperation. He commended the rollout of the 'Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development' from Abu Dhabi in 2022, considering it a pivotal platform for advancing collaborative industrial growth and regional economic integration. The Industrial Partnership initially brought together the UAE, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, and Morocco. It has since expanded to include Qatar and Turkey as of early 2025, creating a cooperative framework to foster industrial integration among member states and support the development of a resilient, innovation-driven, and sustainable economy. He underscored the collective industrial capabilities of the member states as a lever to address global challenges and achieve regional leadership in supply chain management and advanced manufacturing. Al-Malki noted that 'Make it in the Emirates' is more than a platform for showcasing national capacities; but a catalyst for forging strategic industrial partnerships, driving innovation, and building a resilient infrastructure that serves the aspirations of future generations. He highlighted two strategic partnership initiatives, initiated under the Industrial Partnership, that embody the spirit of collaboration between member states: The partnership between Qatar's MedGulf and the UAE's Future Pipe Company for the supply of 28,000 meters of fiberglass piping – scheduled for completion in January 2026. The long-term agreement between Qatar Steel and Bahrain Steel, valued at USD 1.266 billion, to supply five million metric tons of raw materials over five years, aimed to enhance supply chain integration and ensure a seamless industrial production across the region. He also underscored the Qatar National Manufacturing Strategy 2024–2030, which aims to develop a resilient, diverse, and future-ready industrial sector.

The forum also serves as a strategic platform for knowledge exchange, investment promotion, and partnership building to boost the national industrial sector. Promoting industrial potential and investor support Khalid Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Director of the Industrial Affairs Department, stressed the importance of showcasing Sharjah's industrial potential and supportive business environment. He noted that the emirate offers economic incentives and advanced infrastructure that appeal to industrial investors. He added that the forum opens new avenues for cooperation and industrial localisation, supporting the National Industrial Strategy and the UAE's long-term economic sustainability goals.
