Rajinikanth's Coolie Sparks Plagiarism Row After Posters Resemble Glass, Rebel Moon And Beast

Rajinikanth's Coolie posters spark plagiarism row as fans call out similarities with Hollywood films like Glass, Madame Web, and Rebel Moon. Rajinikanth's upcoming film Coolie is making all the right noises online — though not all for the right reasons. The new posters of the much-awaited action drama have kicked off a storm on social media, with several users accusing the team of lifting visuals from international movie campaigns. From Madame Web to Glass and Rebel Moon, fans have drawn side-by-side comparisons between Coolie's promo posters and Hollywood titles. Some even pointed out that one of the posters looked eerily close to a fan-made design of Beast, the 2022 Tamil film starring Vijay. A collage shared by an X user broke it down: Rajinikanth looking out through cloth folds just like Vijay did in Beast, a broken-glass concept that mirrors Glass starring James McAvoy, and a poster featuring red fabric that looks a lot like Rebel Moon's styling. The post read, 'So basically, 3 out of the 4 posters recently released by the Coolie team are copied from somewhere else. Can't even believe someone like GP copied even from a fan-made poster of Beast. GP is receiving a hefty sum from makers for poster designing, and this is what he is doing." So basically, 3 out of the 4 posters recently released by the Coolie team are copied from somewhere else. Can't even believe someone like GP copied even from a fan-made poster of Beast 🤐GP is receiving a hefty sum from Makers for poster designing & this is what he's doing😷 — Akshay (@iAkshayRPillai) August 2, 2025 Another user slammed the makers with, 'Nothing is original – we don't take inspiration – we copied." A third one wrote, 'Had this been a Bollywood film, self-proclaimed critics would've torn it apart for blatantly copying these posters." Had this been a Bollywood film, self-proclaimed critics would've torn it apart for blatantly copying these if you feel the same #Coolie — A N K I T (@Ankitaker) August 2, 2025 The backlash follows an earlier issue when legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja sent a copyright notice to the film's makers for using his Thanga Magan track Disco Disco without proper permission. He asked the team to either seek approval or remove the tune. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie stars Rajinikanth as Deva and features a strong ensemble including Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir. The film also promises a special cameo by Bollywood's Aamir Khan. Backed by Sun Pictures, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about releases of the year — but it's the posters, not the plot, grabbing all the attention right now. Rajinikanth's Coolie faces plagiarism heat as fans spot resemblances with posters of Dakota Johnson, James McAvoy and Vijay films: ‘Typical copycat'

The new posters of Rajinikanth's highly anticipated film Coolie have stirred a plagiarism debate on social media, with many users pointing out striking similarities between its visuals and those of several Hollywood films. Comparisons have been drawn to posters from Dakota Johnson's Madame Web, Glass, and Rebel Moon. Some users even noted a resemblance between one of Coolie's posters and Vijay's 2022 film Beast. An X (formerly Twitter) user shared a collage comparing Coolie's posters with those of other films. The first photo shows a Coolie poster that appears to resemble Beast, in which both stars are peering through a cloth fabric. Similarly, another poster features different characters of Coolie shown through fragmented glass pieces, closely resembling the design of the Glass poster featuring James McAvoy. Yet another poster shows Rajinikanth's character wrapped in a long red cloth, which many felt mirrored the aesthetic of Rebel Moon. So basically, 3 out of the 4 posters recently released by the Coolie team are copied from somewhere else. Typical Copycat 🤦🏻 Coolie(2025) Rebel Moon(2024) — Summer (@the_summer0) August 2, 2025 The comment read, 'So basically, 3 out of the 4 posters recently released by the Coolie team are copied from somewhere else. Can't even believe someone like GP copied even from a fan-made poster of Beast. GP is receiving a hefty sum from makers for poster designing, and this is what he is doing.' Another user wrote, 'Song copied, first poster copied and now this one also, but some cinephiles will still get o***** in the name of Coolie. Copy + Paste, zero originality.' Another user called the makers 'Typical copycat.' This comes after music composer Ilaiyaraaja sent a copyright notice to Coolie makersin May last year for using his tune Disco Disco from Thanga Magan without proper authorisation, demanding either official approval or removal. The Coolie poster controversy follows the film's recent audio launch. During the event, Rajinikanth joked about himself and shared how he asked choreographer Sandy to go easy on him with the dance steps. He said, 'He promised me that we'd kill it in the first song. I told him, 'I am a 1950s model and have run lakhs of kilometers. My parts were used and changed. So, don't pressure me and handle me with care.'' Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie features Rajinikanth as Deva. The film also stars Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir in key roles. It is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. One of the key highlights of the film is a cameo performance by Bollywood star Aamir Khan.

Integrated Agency Launches Graduate Programme in Cardiff

An independent integrated agency has launched its 2025/26 Difference Makers Graduate Programme, with dedicated opportunities for graduates looking to start their careers in Cardiff. The programme from Four Agency, which has supported nearly 300 graduates to date, offers a structured 12-month rotation across Four's core service areas—communications, creative and media—and its high-growth sectors including government, health, lifescapes and future industries. Graduates will gain hands-on experience working with global clients and access to The Difference Engine, Four's AI and human powered roadmap for campaign planning, implementation and measurement. Four's Cardiff office plays a key role in the agency's UK-wide operations, and the firm said the inclusion of regional placements reflects a broader ambition to decentralise opportunity and invest in local talent. 'Four is proud to be bucking the trend by expanding, not contracting, our graduate offering,' said Nan Williams, group chief executive, Four. 'We believe that the future of our industry lies in diverse, regionally rooted talent with a global mindset—and Cardiff is a vital part of that vision.' Applications for the 2025/26 intake are open until 25 May 2025, with roles available in Sheffield, London and Cardiff. Further information can be found here .
