Recognizing dating red flags, dating violence

CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — In recognition of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is hosting a special workshop, 'Unmasking Teen Dating Violence,' According to the news release, the workshop is designed to equip 'teenage girls with the knowledge and resources to recognize abusive relationships.' There is no mention of a workshop for teenage boys. '1 in 3 U.S. teens will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they're in a relationship with before becoming adults. And nearly half (43%) of U.S. college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors,' according to Love Is Respect. The workshop will provide a safe, informal setting where teens ages 13 to 18 can learn about the warning signs of dating violence and gain valuable tools to foster healthy relationships, says CPSO. If your friends and family do not want to spend time with them (your loved ones want to see you happy. They provide perspective and help you see through the rose-colored glasses) and; If they treat people in the service industry poorly. How someone interacts with their server will give you insight into their views, sense of entitlement, and how they respond when in positions of power. CPSO says refreshments will be provided. The event will occur on Saturday, February 8, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Sheriff's Safety Town, 8910 Jewella Ave. The workshop will conclude with an overview of Crime Victim Reparations, outlining the resources available for those affected by violence.
