Frankie Muniz is 'at a new low' amid NASCAR difficulties: 'Wanted to say it out loud' Show Caption Hide Caption NASCAR Truck Series: Frankie Muniz makes debut at Nashville Former Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz made his NASCAR Truck Series debut at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday. Frankie Muniz is getting honest about his mental health. The "Malcolm in the Middle" star, 39, shared a raw message with fans on social media about struggling emotionally after facing several setbacks in his career as a NASCAR driver. "If I'm being 100% honest ... Mentally/emotionally I may be at a new low," he posted April 21 on X. "Just wanted to say it out loud." The message came after Muniz, who announced in October he would begin a full-time NASCAR career in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, finished 23rd out of 35 in an April 18 race at Rockingham Speedway in North Carolina. He told ABC45 WXLV's Peter Stratta that he had mechanical issues with his vehicle. "My power steering line burst, so I lost power steering," he said. "I started the second stage with no power steering (and) ripped a hole in my hand. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done." Muniz continued that he "could have been maybe a top 15" finisher without these issues, adding that he feels he's "oddly cursed or something" because he's had "bad luck almost for two years straight." But he went on to ask, "How many times can I say, 'Wow, I got bad luck?' My wife doesn't believe me anymore. I love my wife, and she's super supportive, but she's like, 'Maybe it's you. Maybe you're just not good.'" 'Malcom in the Middle' star Frankie Muniz announces full-time NASCAR career Muniz was previously involved in an accident during a race at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this month, according to Athlon Sports. "Bristol was not what we were going for," he said on Facebook. Muniz starred as the title character on the Fox sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle," and in December, it was announced that he will reprise the role in a four-episode reboot on Disney+. In a recent interview with Beating and Banging, Muniz said he has been balancing his NASCAR career with work on the reboot and had to have his filming schedule adjusted so he could race at Bristol. 'Malcolm in the Middle' to return with new episodes featuring Frankie Muniz "I don't want to say my priority is the racing, but it is," he said. "That's what I want to be. I'm a racecar driver. I've been so excited about 'Malcolm' coming back, I've been so excited about this opportunity. We've been talking about it for 10 years, and it just so happens that it's happening at the same time while I'm racing full time. ... I'm trying to make it work." In a recent Instagram live, Muniz said he has had "one of the craziest schedules of my entire life" while balancing his NASCAR career with the "Malcolm" reboot. "It's hard to keep fighting if you don't feel like you're making progress," he also said. "I really, really love my team, and they're all working so hard, and we just need a little bit of luck on our side to go our way."

Actor Frankie Muniz Finishes Tenth At Daytona
Read the full story on Backfire News Actor Frankie Muniz has been proving critics wrong as he continues to race in NASCAR, especially with his performance at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 15. The Malcom in the Middle star was able to finish in tenth place for the Craftsman Truck Series, making him one of the few Hollywood elites to really get into competitive was Muniz's debut race as a full-time NASCAR driver. He initially qualified fourteenth, proving that he's more than just some entitled celebrity trying to steal the spotlight from legitimate racers. On that note, Fox did a hilarious series of interviews with drivers in the Craftsman Truck Series who didn't even know who Muniz is, claiming to have never seen his TV shows. In other words, he was just another competitor to them and received no special treatment on the track. And in this series of videos, those truck series drivers we talked to who had never watched (or I guess forgot/didn't know that they watched if they did) Frankie Muniz on television and film. @NASCARONFOX — Bob Pockrass (@bobpockrass) February 13, 2025 What made the race even more special for Muniz was that it was the man's first one after he started racing full-time in NASCAR. He had competed in a few races before, splitting his time between than and other endeavors. Muniz made his debut in NASCAR on June 28, 2024 during the Rackley Roofing 200. That race ended much differently for the actor after his truck overheated on lap 86. He finished in position 31, lamenting the result afterward. In other words, Muniz is improving as he's getting more time behind the wheel in competition. Back in October 2024 he announced that this year he would start racing in NASCAR full time. The announcement shocked many after some assumed his foray into NASCAR was a publicity stunt or some fleeting early midlife crisis episode. Instead, it seems Muniz is serious about becoming a true racing success. His grit is admirable. Image via frankiemuniz4/Instagram

Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz changes lane for surprise new career
Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz celebrated the best finish of his burgeoning NASCAR career after coming in 10th in Daytona Beach on Friday night. The 39 year-old Agent Cody Banks actor, who took up racing in 2006 before injury led to a 14-year break, was competing in the NASCAR truck series for the fifth time. He initially finished 11th but was bumped up a spot after the disqualification of fellow racer Parker Kligerman, whose truck was ruled out due to a rear suspension issue. "We finished 11th, I couldn't ask for anything better," Muniz told FOX Sports. "I think this truck was so fast. We were in the second pack, I passed all the second pack... straight away to the front pack, and by myself caught them. I can't wait for Talladega, because this truck is good." Asked about the extra attention he's received racing as a celebrity, Muniz added: 'I know I have to prove myself here. Last year, I didn't have the opportunity to do that. Not that this fully does that. This is great. This is a step. Hopefully I earn respect. 'I'm in the Ford technical meeting with the other drivers, and even though we're team mates I still don't think they know what I can do or not. So I want to earn their respect too, and the only way to do that is to do it on the track.' Muniz is continuing to act alongside his racing career. Last December, it was confirmed that he will be part of a reboot of the beloved family sitcom Malcom in the Middle. The sitcom — created by Linwood Boomer — will appear on Disney+ with original stars Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek also set to reprise their roles. 'Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family's chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party,' the description for the reboot reads. While a premiere date has yet to be revealed, the streaming platform has ordered four new episodes of the revived series. 'Malcolm in the Middle is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart and relatability,' Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, told Variety. 'Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we're so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again. The original Malcolm in the Middle aired on Fox from 2000 to 2006 for seven seasons.
