Man arrested for stabbing friend, dumping body in canal
A 35-year-old man, Mallipudi Srinivas, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing his friend to death with a broken beer bottle and dumping the body into an irrigation canal at Kopparru village, under Narsapuram police limits in West Godavari district.
The incident occurred on the night of January 3, but came to light only after the body was discovered in the irrigation canal on January 27, prompting the Narsapuram police to initiate a probe.
In an official release, the West Godavari Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi said:'The accused, Mallipudi Srinivas, reportedly stabbed his friend, Ch. Srinivas (37), following a heated argument. The victim, a DSC-2024 recruitment aspirant ignored the accused's advice not to join the coaching centre, which allegedly led to the fatal confrontation resulting in his death.'
Both the friends hailed from Peravali Mandal in East Godavari district. The police produced the accused before a local court on Wednesday.
