ITV confirm future of Rose Ayling-Ellis' Code of Silence as they share announcement The future of hit ITV drama Code of Silence has been unveiled by the broadcaster in a new announcement, following a huge reaction to the first series Rose Ayling-Ellis in ITV's Code of Silence (Image: ITV ) ITV has confirmed the future of Rose Ayling-Ellis' hit TV drama Code of Silence, following the launch of the first series in May. The six-part series stars Rose, as well as Charlotte Ritchie and Andrew Buchan, and was met with several glowing reviews upon its release. Now, ITV has confirmed a second series has been commissioned by the broadcaster's director of drama, Polly Hill. Rose, who is also an excutive producer of the series, said: 'I'm so proud that Code of Silence has been recommissioned. The response to the first series has been incredible, and it means so much to be part of a drama that not only keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, but also puts a Deaf character at the heart of the story. "I'm really excited to see where Alison's journey goes next and to be working again with the wonderful cast, crew and creative team behind the show." 'I'm thrilled by the response to the first series of Code of Silence and so excited to be bringing Alison back for another case. It's been a privilege to tell a story that opens up representation of the Deaf community, while also delivering suspense and twists. "Rose brings so much heart and complexity to the role and I can't wait to get started on the next chapter with her, ITV and the brilliant team at Mammoth," Catherine commented. ITV has confirmed that the second series is now in development, with filming due to begin next year. Details concerning the cast and production will be revealed in due course. The second season will be executively produced by Damien Timmer, founder of Mammoth Screen, with Rose and Catherine both returning as executive producers, too. Overseeing the production on behalf of ITV will be director of drama Polly and drama commissioner Callum Dziedzic. She is recruited by the police to help assist with an investigation into a criminal gang who are planning a heist. The show tells the story of Alison's journey as navigates the world of undercover surveillance, her feelings for a suspect and the ethical dilemmas of her new role. ITV has announced that filming is officially underway for a new four-part thriller, currently being shot in Manchester and Liverpool. Partnered with Mammoth Screen, ITV have announced that Betrayal is a gripping new espionage thriller and relationship drama set in the shadowy world of MI5. Directed by the BAFTA and Emmy-nominated Julian Jarrold, known for A Very Royal Scandal and This England, production for Betrayal is currently underway in Manchester and Liverpool. Joining Shaun on screen is acclaimed film, TV and theatre actress Romola Garai, who this year was nominated for two Olivier Awards, winning for The Years. Romola plays John's partner, Claire, whose trust in him is strained by the secrecy and demands of his Ahmadi, known for Beyond Paradise and The Bay, and Nikki Amuka-Bird, known for I, Jack Wright and Rumours will also feature. Other actors involved in the four-part thriller are Gamba Cole, Omid Djalili, Matthew Tennyson, Hayley Tamaddon, Anthony Flanagan, and Paddy Rowan. Betrayal is written by award-winning playwright and screenwriter David Eldridge who has two forthcoming plays opening later this year. As John navigates the murky world of espionage, the strain on his marriage to GP Claire (Romola Garai) becomes increasingly unsustainable. Tensions escalate further with the arrival of Mehreen Askari-Evans (Zahra Ahmadi), a sharp, ambitious operative who has recently transferred from MI6, challenging both his professional standing and emotional control. Produced by Mammoth Screen, the ITV Studios label behind the critically acclaimed drama Code of Silence, Betrayal is also produced in association with Navarino Pictures.
