TOKYO -- The Japanese arm of Baskin-Robbins will take over production of ice cream for Southeast Asian markets from its American franchiser in light of rising costs for ingredients and shipping in the U.S., Nikkei has learned.
B-R 31 Ice Cream, which operates the brand's ice cream stores in Japan, begins exports to Baskin-Robbins franchise locations in Indonesia this month, and shipments to Malaysia start next year. The two countries have a total of 256 store locations as of this month.
