R&B singer Chris Brown freed on £5m bail over London ‘bottle attack' charge
R&B singer Chris Brown has been freed on £5 million bail, after he was charged over an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub two years ago. The American singer was detained last week in Manchester, to where he had flown by private jet in preparation for his UK tour. Under his bail conditions, outlined at a court hearing on Wednesday, the musician will be allowed to continue his international tour, which includes UK dates in June and July. Brown did not appear at Southwark Crown Court court for the bail application hearing. The singer is accused of causing grievous bodily harm to Adrian Diaw in February 2023 at the Tape venue in Hanover Square, Mayfair. Manchester Magistrates' Court heard last week that Mr Diaw was standing at the bar of the Tape nightclub when he was struck several times with a bottle and then pursued to a separate area of the nightclub, where he was punched and kicked repeatedly. As part of his bail conditions, Brown can have no contact with Mr Diaw and must not visit the nightclub where the attack is alleged to have happened. Brown must surrender his passport, when not travelling for his tour, and live at a specific address known to the court. He is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court with his co-defendant, US national Omololu Akinlolu, 38, on June 20.

UK court orders singer Chris Brown freed on $10.4 million bail in assault case
Your web browser is no longer supported. To improve your experience update it here A British judge has ordered Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown released on a £5 million ($10.4 million) bail while facing allegations he beat and seriously injured a music producer with a bottle in a London nightclub in 2023. The decision by a judge in Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday revives Brown's world tour, which was cast in doubt when another judge ordered him held in custody after he was charged last week with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Judge Tony Baumgartner said Brown could continue with this tour, including several stops in the UK but would have to pay the bail to guarantee his appearance in court . Chris Brown performs at the 2015 Hot 97 Summer Jam at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (AP) Brown was initially scheduled to appear in court again on June 13. If he had been held until then, Brown would have missed at least two dates on his upcoming tour, which starts next month in Europe. Brown, 36, is accused of launching an unprovoked attack on producer Abe Diaw at the Tape nightclub in the swanky Mayfair neighbourhood in February 2023 while he was last on tour. Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said last week in Manchester Magistrates' Court that Brown struck Diaw several times with a bottle and then punched and kicked him in an attack caught on surveillance camera in front of a club full of people. American musician Omololu Akinlolu, 38, who performs under the name "Hoody Baby" and is a friend of Brown, was also charged over the attack. Neither Brown nor Akinlolu have entered a plea yet. Both men were ordered to appear in court again on June 20. Brown, who burst onto the music scene as a teen in 2005, won his first Grammy for best R&B album in 2011 for F.A.M.E. and then earned his second in the same category for 11:11 (Deluxe) earlier this year. His hits include songs such as Run It , Kiss Kiss and Without You . His tour is due to kick off on June 8 in Amsterdam before starting North America shows in July. celebrity World UK crime police USA music Musician entertainment courts London CONTACT US Auto news: Can you use your phone in the car if it is mounted?
