Jalgaon shooting: Slain doctor's husband & her ex-CRPF cop father remain critical
Nashik: The health condition of slain doctor Trupti Wagh 's husband, Avinash, and her father, Kiran Arjun Mangle, remained critical on Monday, authorities said. Mangle (48), a former sub-inspector with the Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF ), was furious with his MBBS graduate daughter marrying a Std XII pass distant relative against his wishes. He fired three bullets from his licensed pistol at the young couple during a relative's pre-wedding ceremony at Chopda in Jalgaon district around 10.15pm on Saturday, leading to the death of Trupti (24). Wagh (28) received bullet injuries in his hand and back, requiring immediate medical attention. The family members who were with Wagh at the programme decided to shift him to Pune. "While Trupti died, the medical condition of Mangle and Wagh remains critical. Wagh has been shifted to the Sassoon General Hospital in Pune, while Mangle, admitted in Jalgaon, is put on ventilator support," said inspector Madhukar Salve of Chopda police. Salve said Mangle, who was caught by the guests and relatives of Wagh attending the ceremony, was thrashed. He received grievous internal and external injuries. The police have recovered the pistol from Mangle, who has been booked for the murder of Trupti, along with his son. According to Dr Yallapa Jadhav, medical superintendent of the Sassoon General Hospital, the patient is stable but critical. "He has received intestinal injuries and we have treated him for the injuries," Dr Jadhav said. The police said Mangle was furious after his daughter eloped and married Wagh, who was not as educated as Trupti. "Mangle carried that anger all year round before he sought the opportunity. He travelled some 50km from his home in Shirpur, gatecrashed the event and opened fire at the couple," the police said. Wagh works as a helper with a Pune-based private company and earns about Rs 12,000 a month. Steffy Thevar from Pune)

Former CRPF cop shoots daughter dead in Jalgaon for marrying against his wishes
Nashik: A former sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force shot his daughter dead and critically injured her husband while the couple were at a pre-wedding ceremony of a relative on Saturday night in Jalgaon's Chopda town, about 230km from Nashik. Jalgaon police said Kiran Arjun Mangle (48) was allegedly angry with his daughter, Trupti (24), an MBBS graduate, for marrying Avinash Wagh (28), a Std XII pass out who works as a helper with a Pune-based private company. The couple had married last year. The shooting occurred around 10.15pm, in the Ambedkarnagar area of Chopda town, in full view of guests who had gathered for the haldi ceremony of one of Avinash's relatives. "Mangle fired three rounds from his licensed pistol. Trupti died on the spot while Avinash received two gunshot wounds to his back and hand. On Sunday, he was moved to a hospital in Pune for treatment," Jalgaon's superintendent of police (SP) Maheswar Reddy told TOI. Reddy said after the shooting, Mangle was caught by guests and beaten severely. "They kicked and punched him. He too has suffered serious injuries and is now under treatment at Jalgaon Civil Hospital. We have recovered the pistol that was used in the crime," Reddy said, adding that based on a complaint filed by Avinash's mother, the Chopda police registered a case under BNS sections 103(1) (murder) and 109(1) (attempt to murder), among others, against Mangle. "Trupti and Avinash lived in Pune. When Mangle heard they were in Chopda for the ceremony, he travelled some 50km from his home in Shirpur (Dhule district), gatecrashed the event and opened fire at the couple," Reddy said. The SP added that Trupti had completed her MBBS from a private medical college in Pune's Pimpri. "The couple eloped and got married a year ago, when Trupti was in her final year of studies. We've been told Mangle was angry because his daughter had married a man who wasn't as educated as her and earned about Rs 12,000 a month," Reddy said.
