AAP eyes 2027 polls, revamps Punjab unit with 5 MLAs as vice-presidents
1 2 Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday announced a major organisational overhaul of its Punjab unit, appointing five MLAs as vice-presidents along with new in-charges for all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies and 23 districts of the state. The reshuffle, influenced by former Delhi deputy chief minister and AAP's Punjab affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia, is based on field surveys and signals the launch of the party's campaign for the next assembly elections — 'Mission 2027'. Banga MLA Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, who was elected on an Akali ticket in 2022 and joined AAP last year, has been made the in-charge of Doaba region. The decision has come even as a petition against him is pending before the assembly speaker, and he still sits with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLAs in the assembly. Khadoor Sahib MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura has been given the responsibility of Majha zone. In Malwa, responsibilities have been distributed among three MLAs — Moga's Amandeep Kaur for Malwa central, Chamkaur Sahib's Charanjit Singh for Malwa east, and Sri Muktsar Sahib's Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar for Malwa west. Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang, party leader Harchand Singh Barsat, Deepak Bali, and Sunny Singh Ahluwalia have been appointed as state general secretaries. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 남재현 원장, 뱃살 내장지방 줄이는 "이것" 하세요. 남재현 뱃살 빼는 다이어트 더 알아보기 Undo Additionally, Sandeep Saini from Doaba, Gurdev Singh Lakhna from Majha, Navjot Singh Jarg from Malwa central, Ranjodh Singh Hadana from Malwa east, and Inderjit Singh Maan from Malwa west have been given responsibilities as state secretaries. This was no ordinary survey team, but a group of the most experienced and active party workers handpicked by Sisodia. They brought insights from the public, party workers, district heads, and assembly constituencies to the party leadership," he said. AAP has also appointed in-charges in all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies of Punjab for the first time. The list includes Karamjit Kaur for Hoshiarpur, Ramneek Singh Lucky Randhawa for Jalandhar, Jaskaran Badesha for Amritsar, Rajiv Sharma for Gurdaspur, Ranjit Cheema for Khadoor Sahib, Sukhjinder Singh Kauni for Faridkot, Pradeep Khalsa for Fatehgarh Sahib, Sharanpal Singh Makkar for Ludhiana, Kuljeet Sarhal for Anandpur Sahib, Baljinder Dhillon for Patiala, Gurmel Singh Gharacho for Sangrur, Navdeep Singh Jida for Bathinda, and Jagdev Singh Bam for Ferozepur. New colleagues connected to grassroots politics are being given major responsibilities in the organisation. Today, we didn't just distribute positions in Punjab… we've further strengthened the foundation upon which new politics is being built. This isn't just a reshuffle; it's a pledge that AAP will now take its organised vision and honest politics to every village, every young person, every family. " Sisodia added in a statement that the restructuring is not solely aimed at upcoming elections. "We are not preparing for 2027; we are preparing for 2040. Rekha govt failed on 15 key issues in 100 days: AAP
New Delhi: A day ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Delhi government's 100-day milestone, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday released a scathing 'report card,' accusing the BJP of failing on 15 key issues and reneging on its pre-election promises. Senior AAP leaders including Atishi, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Sanjeev Jha, and Kuldeep Kumar addressed a press conference to present the report, alleging that the BJP had 'ruined' Delhi's condition within just three months of governance. 'The people of Delhi voted for the BJP hoping for a better future, but within 100 days, the BJP has turned Delhi into a disaster zone,' said Atishi, former Delhi minister. 'This report card will be taken to every household across the capital.' AAP's report outlined a range of grievances, chief among them being the BJP's alleged failure to deliver on two flagship promises — providing ₹2,500 to women by March 8 and distributing free LPG cylinders on Holi and Diwali. According to AAP, neither commitment was fulfilled. The party further accused the BJP of presiding over a worsening situation in the capital. There has been a sharp rise in power outages, coupled with an increase in electricity tariffs. The Farishte Yojana, a program that offered free medical treatment for road accident victims in private hospitals, has reportedly been discontinued. Additionally, private school fees have surged, placing a burden on parents and resulting in the expulsion of students who are unable to pay. Healthcare services have also suffered, as several mohalla clinics have been shut down and staff laid off. Water supply has become irregular, and there have been reports of contaminated sewer water flowing through residential taps, contributing to a rise in waterborne illnesses. Delhi's air quality has deteriorated further, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossing the 500 mark — a dangerous level — during the summer season. The AAP report card also highlights that the BJP-led administration has cut pensions for 25,000 widows and removed portraits of national icons Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar from government offices. Promises to regularize bus marshals and civil defence volunteers, which the BJP pledged to complete within 60 days, remain unfulfilled. Free operations and diagnostic tests in private healthcare facilities — once available under AAP governance — have been stopped. Moreover, the demolition of slum areas has left many people homeless and without rehabilitation support. Highlighting the growing discontent, AAP leaders noted that women have staged protests — some even breaking pots at BJP MLAs' offices — over water shortages in various parts of the city. Tanker-based water supply has become the norm in several neighborhoods, while reports of dirty sewer water contaminating drinking taps have raised serious health concerns.

Manish Sisodia slams Centre over ceasefire with Pakistan, demands answers from PM Modi
CHANDIGARH: Former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia fired a series of pointed questions over the Indian government's handling of the ceasefire with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. Briefing media persons here on Tuesday, the senior AAP leader questioned the abrupt manner in which India settled for a ceasefire after launching Operation Sindoor to target the terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). Sisodia said the sudden ceasefire announcement has undermined the gains made and has left the people confused and disappointed. If Pakistan was so eager for a ceasefire, India should have used that leverage to bring the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack to justice, he said. The critical question, Sisodia noted, is that when the entire nation and the opposition have expressed solidarity with the government in targeting the terror bases, why did the government suddenly agree to a ceasefire? The second question is, if Pakistan was too keen on a ceasefire, why didn't the Centre demand Pakistan to hand over to India the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack? Sisodia expressed shock, saying, 'It is surprising that Pakistan folded its hands, and Modiji agreed. I want to ask, when Pakistani terrorists sent by Pakistan were brutally killing people in Pahalgam and our sisters were begging them with folded hands to spare their husbands, saying, 'Don't take away my sindoor', but the terrorists showed no mercy and brutally murdered their husbands, how could you agree to their request after just one plea?'
