Rekha govt failed on 15 key issues in 100 days: AAP
New Delhi: A day ahead of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Delhi government's 100-day milestone, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday released a scathing 'report card,' accusing the BJP of failing on 15 key issues and reneging on its pre-election promises.
Senior AAP leaders including Atishi, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Sanjeev Jha, and Kuldeep Kumar addressed a press conference to present the report, alleging that the BJP had 'ruined' Delhi's condition within just three months of governance.
'The people of Delhi voted for the BJP hoping for a better future, but within 100 days, the BJP has turned Delhi into a disaster zone,' said Atishi, former Delhi minister. 'This report card will be taken to every household across the capital.'
AAP's report outlined a range of grievances, chief among them being the BJP's alleged failure to deliver on two flagship promises — providing ₹2,500 to women by March 8 and distributing free LPG cylinders on Holi and Diwali. According to AAP, neither commitment was fulfilled.
The party further accused the BJP of presiding over a worsening situation in the capital. There has been a sharp rise in power outages, coupled with an increase in electricity tariffs. The Farishte Yojana, a program that offered free medical treatment for road accident victims in private hospitals, has reportedly been discontinued. Additionally, private school fees have surged, placing a burden on parents and resulting in the expulsion of students who are unable to pay.
Healthcare services have also suffered, as several mohalla clinics have been shut down and staff laid off. Water supply has become irregular, and there have been reports of contaminated sewer water flowing through residential taps, contributing to a rise in waterborne illnesses. Delhi's air quality has deteriorated further, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossing the 500 mark — a dangerous level — during the summer season.
The AAP report card also highlights that the BJP-led administration has cut pensions for 25,000 widows and removed portraits of national icons Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar from government offices. Promises to regularize bus marshals and civil defence volunteers, which the BJP pledged to complete within 60 days, remain unfulfilled. Free operations and diagnostic tests in private healthcare facilities — once available under AAP governance — have been stopped. Moreover, the demolition of slum areas has left many people homeless and without rehabilitation support. Highlighting the growing discontent, AAP leaders noted that women have staged protests — some even breaking pots at BJP MLAs' offices — over water shortages in various parts of the city. Tanker-based water supply has become the norm in several neighborhoods, while reports of dirty sewer water contaminating drinking taps have raised serious health concerns.

Bharatiya Janata Party national president J.P. Nadda on Saturday (May 31, 2025) said a safe and strong India is marching ahead under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership after the display of the nation's power during Operation Sindoor. 'The operation has only been halted, while the fight against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism will continue,' Mr. Nadda said. Mr. Nadda was on a day's visit to Jaipur to participate in the celebrations marking the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, the former queen of the Malwa kingdom, attend the BJP's 'Tiranga Yatra', and interact with the party workers. He spoke at two functions at the Rajasthan International Centre (RIC) and the Entertainment Paradise Hall, besides addressing the BJP workers at the Sanganer airport. Mr. Nadda said India had made it clear through its surgical strikes [in Pakistan], air strikes and Operation Sindoor that a 'befitting reply' would be given to the attackers by entering their own territory. 'India does not send dossiers [to Pakistan] any more, like the one after the 26/11 attack. Modi ji doesn't complain, he executes what he says,' he said. The new normal The BJP president said the Operation Sindoor, which had demonstrated India's military capability, had handed down a punishment to Pakistan 'beyond its imagination', as promised by Mr. Modi. 'Nine terror hotspots, including the headquarters of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Jaish-e-Mohammed, were destroyed in 22 minutes. Eleven air bases [in Pakistan] were also destroyed. This is the new normal,' he said. While affirming that Operation Sindoor would continue as long as Pakistan nurtures terrorism, Mr. Nadda called upon the BJP workers to apprise the people of the party's national security policy, and come forward to defend the nation. Disburses aid At the women's empowerment programme at RIC, Mr. Nadda flagged off 150 Kalika patrolling units of the Rajasthan Police and transferred financial assistance to the beneficiaries of Lakhpati Didi Yojana, Lado Protsahan Yojana, SC/ST pre-matric scholarship scheme, and the distance education scheme. He also launched the Swasth Nari Chetana Abhiyan and the Garbh Pathshala Yojana on the occasion. Mr. Nadda, who holds the Health & Family Welfare portfolio as a Minister in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre, said the culture of politics had changed in the country after 2014. 'Instead of blame game, every section of society is being empowered now,' he said. 'Modiji has made accountability and responsibility the new definitions of politics. We are willing to give report cards for our work… The double-engine government in Rajasthan is engaged in public service with its new schemes for all sections of society,' Mr. Nadda said. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Bhagirath Choudhary, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, and BJP State president Madan Rathore were among those who attended functions along with Mr. Nadda. At the TDP's annual Mahanadu in Kadapa on Thursday, Naidu said the state carries a debt burden of Rs 10 lakh crore, with Rs 40,000 crore paid annually as interest. Finance ministry data, however, pegs the debt at Rs 5.62 lakh crore - still substantial by any Naidu confirmed that one of the TDP's key election promises - free bus travel for women - will be launched on August 15. The state has yet to estimate the cost of the scheme. "We'll understand the financial impact after implementation. The aim is to improve women's access to jobs, even if salaries are low," Finance Minister P Keshav told major promise, the revamped Rythu Bharosa scheme , will give Rs 20,000 per year to each farmer - Rs 6,000 under PM-Kisan and Rs 14,000 from the state. The state expects to support at least 54 lakh farmers initially, requiring Rs 7,560 crore annually. There are discussions to expand the scheme to 62 lakh also said the 'Thalliki Vandanam' scheme - which gives Rs 15,000 per child to mothers who send their children to school - will be rolled out this session. The previous government capped it at Rs 15,000 per mother. Keshav claimed the enhanced incentive also aims to encourage higher fertility rates. "South Indian states are seeing population declines. We must incentivise families to have more children," he TDP's ally BJP has backed the initiatives.

Kolkata Cops Defend Influencer's Arrest Over Communal Post, BJP Slams TMC's 'Appeasement Politics'

Kolkata Police has defended its arrest of social media influencer Sharmishta Panoli, saying all legal procedures were duly adhered to and she was granted transit remand to Kolkata as per due process of law. Sharmishta Panoli, a 22-year-old law student and an influencer, was arrested by Kolkata Police on Friday night in Haryana's Gurugram for her alleged controversial remarks linked to India's Operation Sindoor. She was brought to Kolkata on transit remand and produced before a court, which sent her to judicial custody till June 13. Several users on social media came out in defence of Panoli and called her arrest unlawful. However, Kolkata Police issued a statement, saying certain narratives suggesting an unlawful arrest were 'factually incorrect and misleading". 'All legal procedures were duly adhered to. All attempts were made to serve notice, but she was found absconding on every occasion. Consequently, a warrant of arrest was issued by the competent court, following which she was apprehended lawfully from Gurgaon. She was thereafter produced before the appropriate magistrate and granted transit remand as per due process of law," it added. BJP Slams 'Appeasement Politics' Meanwhile, West Bengal's Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari criticised the Trinamool Congress for Panoli's arrest, accusing the party of appealing to a 'certain community" for their vote banks. Speaking to reporters, Adhikari said, 'FIR was filed against Mahua Moitra also. She made derogatory comments about Goddess Kali. Was any action taken? What did their (TMC) MP, Saayoni Ghosh, post regarding Mahadev? Was any action taken? There have been so many FIRs against Firhad Hakim, but there has been no action." 'The action is only taken against Sanatanis. Everyone here has a licence to abuse Sanatana… This is appeasement politics. A certain community is their vote bank and this is for appeasement," he added. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said Panoli had owned up to her mistake and apologised. He lambasted the TMC for 'deep, searing pain" when the party MPs mock Sanatana Dharma. 'Where is the outrage when our faith is called 'Gandha Dharm'? Where is their apology? Where is their swift arrest?" he said. 'Blasphemy must be condemned, always! Secularism isn't a shield for some and a sword for others. It must be a two-way street.
