Officers: Manitowoc Alderman identified as driver killed after crash into building
MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – The Manitowoc Police Department has identified the driver killed following a crash into a building on Tuesday as Alderman James Brey. In the release, officers provided a brief statement: 'Our deepest sympathies go out to Alderman Brey's family and loved ones. Alderman Brey gave many years of service to the City of Manitowoc, for which we are all thankful. The crash happened just before 5 p.m. on August 12 in the area of South 26th Street and Franklin Street. No major injuries in Manitowoc 3-vehicle crash, SUV flips on its side
MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities reported no major injuries following a three-vehicle crash in Manitowoc just before midnight on the Fourth of July, where an SUV flipped onto its side. Around 11:40 p.m. on Friday, July 4, the Manitowoc Police Department was alerted to a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of North 8th Street and Waldo Boulevard in Manitowoc. It had been reported that one vehicle was on its side. Multiple roads in northwest Wisconsin washed out due to heavy rain, severe flooding Authorities closed portions of Waldo and North 8th due to the crash that involved two SUVs and a pickup truck. It was noted that the crash only involved three adults, two from Manitowoc and one from Green Bay. Officers determined, thanks to the help of witnesses, that the crash happened when a northbound SUV on North 8th entered the intersection of Waldo Boulevard and crashed with a westbound SUV. That collision reportedly caused the northbound SUV to flip and land on the hood of a pickup truck before rolling over on its side. All three drivers were evaluated at the scene by Manitowoc Fire and Rescue, and officers noted that no major injuries were reported. Just before 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, first responders with the Manitowoc Police Department and the Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department were sent to the intersection of Maritime Drive and North 8th Street after reports of a crash. When authorities got to the scene, officers found a motorcyclist lying on the curb, being assisted by bystanders. The motorcyclist was then taken to a Green Bay hospital for treatment of 'significant' injuries. Person hospitalized after being hit in crosswalk while using mobility scooter in Manitowoc
MANITOWOC, Wis. (WFRV) – One person was hospitalized Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street on a mobility scooter. According to the Manitowoc Police Department, the incident occurred just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of Custer Street and South 31st Street. Wisconsin man sentenced to 30 years for attacking correctional officer, fellow inmate A preliminary investigation revealed the individual on the scooter was traveling south on the sidewalk along South 31st Street and entered the crosswalk on Custer Street. A vehicle traveling east on Custer struck the scooter, resulting in injuries. The operator of the mobility scooter was transported to a medical facility for treatment. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has been identified by authorities. Custer Street is expected to remain closed for several hours as the Wisconsin State Patrol conducts an accident reconstruction.
