Producers of ‘Manjummel Boys' issued police summons over payment of profits share
Kochi: The producers of the Malayalam film 'Manjummel Boys' have been issued summons by Maradu Police, directing them to appear for interrogation. The summons was issued in a case registered against them based on a complaint by an investor who was allegedly denied dividends from the profit or the principal amount that he financed. The case was against the producers of the movie, Parava Films, Shawn Antony, Soubin Shahir and his father Babu Shahir. Sources said that all three individuals were asked to appear for questioning. The development comes close on the heels of the high court dismissing their petitions to quash the FIR. The FIR was initially registered based on a direction from the Ernakulam first class magistrate court after the complainant, Siraj Valiyathara Hameed, moved court alleging that he was not paid the promised share of profits. 'Manjummel Boys' was a huge success, and it was reported that the film collected over Rs 200 crore. According to the complainant, he paid the amount in cash as well as through banking transactions. His allegations are that the amount he invested, Rs 7 crore, and a profit share of Rs 40 crore was not paid to him. Police are probing the veracity of the allegations.

Malayalam film directors Khalid Rahman, Ashraf Hamza arrested for possession of hybrid ganja
In a late-night operation carried out by the Kochi Excise Department, three individuals, including two renowned Malayalam film directors, were arrested for the possession of hybrid ganja. The arrested individuals have been identified as Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza, both known for their contributions to the Malayalam film industry, along with their friend, Shalif Mohammed. The arrest occurred after a thorough investigation led by the Excise authorities, which culminated in the discovery of 1.6 grams of hybrid ganja in the possession of the suspects. While the operation itself was swift, it has sparked significant attention due to the high-profile status of the individuals involved. Khalid Rahman, known for his critically acclaimed film 'Manjummel Boys' and Ashraf Hamza, who gained recognition with his debut film 'Thamaasha', were both taken into custody under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. According to sources within the Excise Department, the three individuals were found with the drugs during the operation, and the authorities did not uncover any further illicit substances during their investigation. The filmmakers and their associate were granted station bail shortly after the detention.
