Silent Observer: Artist Manoj Aggarwal's sculptures capture the rhythm of urban life and ordinary people
Artist Manoj Aggarwal is a quiet observer of city life, drawing inspiration from ordinary people, and the simple stories that unfold around them. His ongoing exhibition, 'Silent Observer', showcases paintings and sculptures that capture the lives of the working class, his interpretations of deities, and moments laced with gentle satire. Primarily a figurative artist, Aggarwal often turns his gaze to women—sometimes lost in thought, seated in stillness, some with wings dreaming, or simply admiring themselves. 'In women figures, there is a rhythm. I picked them out of the rhythm, the contour, and the aesthetic sense of that figure,' he says. His women reflect the simplicity of daily life—draped in blouses, skirts, dhotis, or sarees. They are from our society and surroundings — from those working in markets to those we see in our own homes.

Roll out SIR in all states: EC missive to CEOs
Kolkata: EC on Wednesday asked chief electoral officers of all states, including Bengal CEO Manoj Aggarwal, to complete the preparations for a nationwide rollout of special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The election panel also asked the CEOs to table all the data on booth level officers (BLOs), their supervisors, and booth level agents appointed by political parties. The EC move coincided with multiple BLOs applying to the EC to be discharged from poll duties, citing health and personal reasons. The poll panel indicated that all these applications and their medical certificates would be screened and then decided upon. It, however, insisted that the number of such applications was less, and would not impact any work. Some BLOs have already shown their unwillingness to accept their appointments. EC officers claimed that the poll task was for a day or two in a month, and BLOs had been given appointments for the booth where they were voters. For processing SIR, an EC official said, they need to devote at best four to five days in a month. The EC told the CEOs that polling stations should not have over 1,200 voters, and it asked them to plan for the pre-revision activities by filling up all vacant posts of ERO/AERO and BLOs. "Considering the magnitude of work involved in SIR, BLO must be appointed for a single polling station, and BLO supervisors should not be given charge of more than 10 polling stations," the EC letter read. It also told the CEOs that political parties should be asked to start appointment of BLAs. You Can Also Check: Kolkata AQI | Weather in Kolkata | Bank Holidays in Kolkata | Public Holidays in Kolkata
