Fire breaks out at EC office in Patna, no casualties

1 2 3 Patna: A fire broke out at the Bihar Election Commission (EC) office situated on Serpentine Road in the state capital on Thursday, triggering panic among the employees. Upon receiving an alert, multiple fire tenders reached the location and controlled the blaze. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, even as electronic equipment and other material kept in the server room and conference hall were burnt to ashes. District fire officer Manoj Kumar Nat said prima facie, a short circuit seemed to be the cause. "The fire started on the top floor of the building and started spreading rapidly. The damage is being assessed," Nat said. According to officials, the fire broke out around 11am in the machinery room of the election department. Gradually, the fire engulfed the server room and conference hall. But soon after noticing smoke in the office, the employees informed the fire brigade and administration.
