Sabrina Carpenter sends fans wild as she strips down to her underwear for a bath with PIGS as pop star announces new album
Sabrina Carpenter has sent her fans wild as she shared a slew of stunning snaps to announce her new album. The hitmaker, 26, took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that her new album Man's Best Friend will be released on August 29. Celebrating the news, she shared behind the scenes images from her latest music video for her single Manchild. In one snap, Sabrina turned heads as she donned nothing but pink underwear in a bubble bath with two pigs. The singer smiled at the camera in the tub with her thumbs up, while another snap saw her running in a white shirt and underwear. Sabrina captioned the upload: 'Manchild bts. Take a shot every time I wear a new outfit.' It comes after the cover art for the upcoming release sparked fierce criticism from fans. During an Instagram Live, the pop singer shared a video of herself flipping through a stack of records by Donna Summer, ABBA, and Dolly Parton, before stopping on her own, revealing Man's Best Friend. The teaser gave a peek at the album cover, showing Carpenter on all fours while a person dressed in black slacks — whose face is not visible — pulls her blonde hair. She also posted a close-up image of a heart-shaped dog collar engraved with Man's Best Friend. The highly sexualised and provocative album art quickly drew backlash. Last week, Carpenter dropped the lead single from the upcoming album, titled Manchild. It was co-written with Jack Antonoff, a longtime collaborator who is also well known for his extensive work with Taylor Swift. The track quickly climbed to the top spot on both the Spotify U.S. and Global charts. Her seventh studio album, Man's Best Friend, is set to release nearly a year after her previous chart-topping project, Short n' Sweet, which came out last August. All three singles from Short n' Sweet — Espresso, Please Please Please, and Taste — achieved the rare feat of entering Spotify's Billion Streams Club. The album sold 10 million copies worldwide and earned Carpenter six Grammy nominations as a first-time nominee. She won two awards: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for Espresso. Meanwhile, when Sabrina announced Manchild last week, she seemed to deliver a sharp dig at her ex Barry Keoghan. She cryptically captioned the announcement with, 'This one's about you!!' Sabrina and Barry began dating in December 2023 before going public with their romance during their joint appearance at the Met Gala in May 2024. The pair were said to have split in December however it was reported in the August that they were on and off. Barry was hit by claims he cheated on the hitmaker. However, a source told Us Weekly the actor was 'very devoted to her happiness', but that they are 'at different places in their lives.' The insider further divulged that it's been 'challenging for their relationship since she started going on tour and has been gone a lot' and that 'their schedules were not aligning.' 'All the time spent apart it was hard to maintain a relationship amid her career exploding.' Another insider told the publication that the breakup happened within 'the last month' because of their busy schedules. It was noted that there's no bad blood between the 'cordial' pair and their split was 'not contentious.' When previously asked by Rolling Stone if she refers to Barry as her boyfriend she said: 'How do I skirt around this question?'. 'The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that's what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can't be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about.'

Sabrina Carpenter's New Album Cover Isn't Going Down Well With Fans

(Photo by Christopher Polk/Rolling Stone via Getty Images) Sabrina Carpenter is no stranger to a bit of controversy. Honestly, it's a part of her charm. Over the last year, her Short 'n' Sweet tour had many critics clutching their pearls, mostly due to her risqué outfits and tongue-in-cheek choreography that imitated some X-rated activities. Nonetheless, the singer remained undeterred, telling those who had a problem, 'Just don't come to the show.' Now, it looks like her latest album won't be bending to naysayers, and is already drawing criticism before even being released, thanks to some bold cover art. This Wednesday, June 11, the singer announced the upcoming release of her new album Man's Best Friend over Instagram. This reveal comes less than a week after the surprise drop of her single 'Manchild' (which will be on the album). Image via With the announcement, the pop star dropped what looks to be the album cover, which features her on all fours in a black mini dress and stilettos. A mostly off-camera suited figure looms over her, clutching a fistful of the singer's signature golden locks. Accompanying the cover reveal was a second image, featuring a close-up of a fluffy dog wearing a collar that read, 'Man's best friend.' But it isn't the latter image that fans are taking issue with. Carpenter's pop identity and predominantly female fan base have been built on an unapologetic embrace of female sexuality and empowerment. However, some feel this latest cover misses the mark, particularly considering the current state of political affairs and women's subjugation. 'This cover isn't landing the way you thought it would right now. The timing…' commented one fan. 'This better be the most feminist, woman empowering album ever with a cover like this, Sabrina,' said another. (Photo by Christopher Polk/Rolling Stone via Getty Images) On the other hand, there were those fans who didn't see an issue. 'It's Sabrina Carpenter… her whole shtick is satire,' and 'Men treat women like dogs. That's the joke,' two supporters commented on the intended irony. Another stated, 'There's nothing wrong with the album cover in my opinion. She's an adult… she might actually be into it?' The context of the cover's controversy may be surmised by a comment from one fan on the supposed intentions behind the art, stating, 'Any irony is lost because the people who are supposed to be offended by this actually want this.' Carpenter's true intentions behind the cover choice will not be clear until the album drops this August. However, if the rest of the album is similar to Manchild, then 'dumb' but nonetheless 'sexy' men may be of note, in which case the reception of any intended irony may be blurred in today's climate. Fans shocked by Sabrina Carpenter's ‘degrading' new album cover
Barely a week after she surprised fans with the release of a brand new single, Manchild, Sabrina Carpenter has delivered another bit of unexpected news: Her next studio album will be released in only a couple of months' time. But, according to some of her fanbase, the album cover is the real shocker. Carpenter announced today that her seventh (!) studio album Man's Best Friend will be released on August 29. She revealed the album cover on social media: A striking photo of Carpenter on her knees, in a short dress and heels, pawing at the leg of a man standing over her. He's pulling on Carpenter's blonde hair like a leash. Amid the fan excitement to be getting a new album from the star only 12 months after the release of her chart-topping record Short N' Sweet, there's also a discernible amount of shock: This is the album cover? One fan under Carpenter's Instagram post labelled the image 'embarrassing,' others calling it 'disgusting' and 'degrading.' 'Girl is this a humiliation ritual,' one person asked. 'This pic is so embarrassing pick a new shtick,' another complained. 'I dont wanna see no man dragging you around by your hair mother please get up,' begged another. Others even suggested to Carpenter that it wasn't too late to change the cover, one fan writing: 'Hey can we get a new cover that doesn't suck? Feels very against the powerful busy woman character that you built up …' Carpenter's certainly striking while the iron is hot, dropping her next album hot on the heels of breakthrough record Short n' Sweet, which still sits at number three on the ARIA charts almost a year after its release. 26-year-old Carpenter released her debut single way back in 2014, and while she achieved a few minor hits along the way, it wasn't until last year's world-conquering hit Espresso that she finally hit pop's big leagues, a full decade into her career. That song is still charting inside the ARIA top 30, 60 weeks on from its debut. Since then, she's stacked up a slew of multi-platinum singles in a very short period: Please Please Please, Taste, Bed Chem and latest release Manchild, which is expected to debut at or near the top of the charts in most major markets later this week.
