Located on East 73rd Street between Fifth and Madison avenues, the opulent residence occupies the second floor of Pulitzer's former mansion, designed by architect Stanford White in the style of a 17th-century Venetian palace. 7 An apartment carved from the former grand ballroom of Joseph Pulitzer's Gilded Age mansion on East 73rd Street has hit the market for $6 million. Douglas Elliman 7 Once home to the pioneering journalist, the Stanford White-designed mansion was outfitted with cutting-edge features for its time, including ball bearings under the floors and triple-pane windows to block out city noise. ASSOCIATED PRESS Pulitzer, the trailblazing newspaper publisher and namesake of journalism's Pulitzer Prize, who at one point owned the largest circulation newspaper in the world, lived in the home for the final eight years of his life. Commissioned with durability and peace in mind after a fire destroyed his previous home, the mansion was constructed with then-cutting-edge soundproofing features — including triple-pane windows, thick walls and even ball bearings beneath the floors to muffle the clatter of passing carriages, according to a press release. The building was converted into 17 individual residences in the 1930s and restructured as a co-op in the 1950s. 7 The building was divided into 17 units in the 1930s and became a co-op in the 1950s. Stunning, $14M fairy-tale estate could stand in for a Disney castle — and now it's getting a big discount
A Disney-esque castle in the Midwest just got a $500,000 price cut. In 1869, King Ludwig II of Bavaria commissioned a castle in the remote reaches of the Alps, long after such fairy-tale residences had any utility to modern monarchies. The fantastical dream of Germany's Neuschwanstein Castle found a devotee in the late Deon Heiner, whose Wyoming castle hit the market in April 2024. Heiner's extravagant home, first priced at $14 million, is newly available for $13.5 million, Mansion Global reported. 5 An aerial of the 9,470-square-foot home in Bedford, Wyoming. Ken Speakman 5 The home's tallest turret rises 100 feet into the air. Ken Speakman The 9,470-square-foot castle, located in Bedford, Wyoming, comes with towers, turrets, ramparts and lookouts worthy of a princess. Heiner, a businessman in the construction industry, built the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom brick castle in 1992. Just the process of laying the 1 million bricks was necessary to build up the original home took eight years, according to Cowboy State Daily. The castle, which Heiner reportedly modeled after Neuschwanstein Castle, has all the dressings of a royal seat – turrets on the corners, stone balconies, cast-iron windows and vaulted ceilings. There's even an underground tunnel system with secret entrances, according to the listing. The tallest turret, accessed by a stainless steel spiral staircase, reaches 100 feet into the air, offering 360-degree views of rural forest and mountains. 5 Large windows throughout the property let in natural light. Ken Speakman 5 The enchanted property sits on 37 acres. Ken Speakman 5 The copper rooftops have developed a green patina over the years. Ken Speakman The property's listing agent, Patty Speakman of Compass, told The Post that she imagines the home's next owner will enjoy its relative seclusion, unique architecture and sweeping vistas. 'It sits on the top of the hill, and you've got views in every direction,' Speakman said. 'It's just a beautiful location.' Despite the exterior's romantic design, the estate's 40 rooms enjoy the benefit of modern amenities, like large windows that let in ample light and imported stone floors with in-floor heating. There's also a secure vault room, a rampart greenhouse, a game room and a gym. The 37 wooded acres upon which the castle sits include walking and biking trails, according to the listing, and a brick perimeter encloses the expansive grounds. Should the castle's next owner find themselves unable to traverse the property's facsimile moat, they can always access the home in one other way — via its helipad.

The former home of the Gucci family, Calvin Klein and Italian ambassadors is on sale for $16M
This pedigreed Gilded Age townhome just got a handsome price cut. The 10,300-square-foot residence right off Central Park is not only the former home of Italy's United Nations ambassador but also the one-time property of both Calvin Klein and the Gucci family. The listing, first reported by Mansion Global in March, is newly priced at $16 million – a $3.5 million price reduction. The impressive listing was recently entrusted to George Vanderploeg and Stuart Brannan of Douglas Elliman in February, according to StreetEasy. Vanderploeg told The Post that the current owners, due to regulations, had to initially price and list the property on their own. 6 The brick facade of the townhome. Mike Tauber and Douglas Elliman 6 The grand entrance hall and staircase. Mike Tauber and Douglas Elliman 6 The wood-paneled library features one of the home's marble fireplaces. Mike Tauber and Douglas Elliman The Italian government purchased the pad in 1991 from none other than fashion mogul Calvin Klein, who acquired the home just three years prior, according to city records. Before him, a company associated with the Gucci family held the deed. The 1902 brick and limestone neo-Georgian spans six levels and boasts an impressive depth of 77 feet. The townhome features quintessential details of the Gilded Age kept lovingly intact by its numerous stewards – 13-foot ceilings, ornate fireplaces and a grand staircase. The home's entrance gives way to a grand entrance hall connected to a large living room and a dining room with seats for 16. The back patio and garden area, accessed from the parlor floor kitchen, spans 250 square feet, Vanderploeg said. Vanderploeg compared the home's tall ceilings to an Italian palazzo's grand piano nobile, or principal floor. 6 The large dining room can entertain more than a dozen guests. Mike Tauber and Douglas Elliman 6 A spacious sitting area with picture-frame molding. Mike Tauber and Douglas Elliman 6 One of six bedrooms. Mike Tauber and Douglas Elliman The upper floors include a wood-paneled library with one of the home's eight wood-burning fireplaces and a primary bedroom with two large dressing rooms. The property features six bedrooms, including two staff rooms in the 1,693-square-foot basement. The fifth-floor penthouse suite, which encompasses a bedroom and a loft-like living room lit by a skylight, boasts access to a 1,600-square-foot rooftop, according to the listing. Vanderploeg said the most recent owners of the home made relatively few changes, but the home's three kitchens were redone to facilitate catering for large parties.
