Ultra-wealthy buyers are clamoring to live in these cities — see where NYC ranks among them

The lucky number of individuals worth $30 million or more is expected to grow by 33% over the next five years — and they all need homes. A new report narrowed down where the moneyed are living, where they're buying second homes and where they're rubbing elbows. The data, compiled by the information services firm Altrata and reported by Mansion Global, geographically tracked the real estate moves of individuals with net worths exceeding $30 million. In the industry, these filthy-rich buyers are referred to as 'ultra-high-net-worth individuals,' and their residential footprint is growing internationally. Members of this affluent demographic own an average of three homes, according to the report. Advertisement 5 The number of ultra-high-net-worth homebuyers is expected to grow 33% by 2030. Dorde – 5 New York City remains a favorite spot among the richest global residents. THANANIT – 'Today's affluent think in currencies, not countries,' said Julie Faupel, ceo of the invite-only realtor community Realm, which sponsored the report. Advertisement If the richest of the rich did think in countries, however, the United States would be top of mind. A grand total of 15 US cities appeared on the report's ranking of global metros with the most ultra-wealthy buyers. Only two European cities, Paris and London, made an appearance in the top 20. New York City, in particular, continues to reign supreme among the global well-to-do. Big Apple homes are owned — but perhaps not occupied — by more than 33,000 ultra-high-net-worth individuals, according to the data. The reputation of wealthy NYC buyers snapping up penthouses without regard for economic uncertainty and political shifts could be waning, however. Jeremy Stein of Sotheby's International Realty — which published a mid-year luxury market outlook in June — told The Post that the city's ultra-luxury segment is no longer reaching the same heights it did in 2024. It continues to outperform the broader market, however. Advertisement The luxury co-op market, which struggles to compete with turnkey condos, is seeing a notable bounce back as sellers concede to more realistic pricing, Stein added. 5 Second homes in Miami are increasingly popular with luxury buyers. susanne2688 – 5 Certain enclaves are defined by their wealth, from Aspen to Monaco. Boris Stroujko – Advertisement Ranking runner-ups Los Angeles and Hong Kong lagged behind New York with populations of upper-crust owners numbering close to 20,000 each. Miami, a recent rankings climber, overtook New York as the most popular metro for luxury second homes. Miami beat out other hot spots like London, Beijing and Hong Kong with with 13,200 über-wealthy second-homeowners. Prosperity in the Sunshine State didn't stop there — the relatively small metro of Naples notched an extreme ratio of 19 ultra-rich second-home owners for every one primary resident. Aspen, Colorado ranked third for the highest concentration of ultra-wealthy owners. One in every 77 residents of the snowy city is worth more than $30 million, according to the report. The crème de la crème are packed in like sardines in Monaco, which leads the density rankings with one in 22 residents classified as ultra-wealthy.

Stunning Connecticut country retreat once owned by Broadway legend lists for $5 million

A $5 million listing for a home older than the Revolutionary War is on the market in Danbury, Connecticut — which is approximately 50 miles northeast of NYC. The country retreat, called Roadside, dates back to the early 1700s. The historic home further boasts ties to Broadway legend Rachel Crothers, who lived and worked there until her death. Mansion Global first reported on the listing. 12 The property spans more than 53 acres. Realty Plans Advertisement 12 Playwright and former Roadside resident Rachel Crothers, pictured in 1911. Realty Plans Few recognize Crother's name today, but her groundbreaking work made waves throughout the early twentieth century for its feminist themes and social critiques. Advertisement Crothers lived at the 53-acre property from 1918 until she died in 1958, Mansion Global reported. The 6,625-square-foot colonial-style abode includes four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, according to the listing held by Kathleen Harrison at Coldwell Banker Realty. While living in the Connecticut home, Crothers wrote and directed plays for Broadway stages and beyond, featuring leading starlets of the day like Ethel Barrymore. The playwright found early success with her 1906 play 'The Three of Us,' which enjoyed a 277-performance run at the now-demolished Madison Square Theatre — which was located on 24th Street between Sixth Avenue and Broadway in Manhattan. One of her most famous plays, 'Susan and God,' was adapted into a 1940 film starring Joan Crawford. During Crother's decades-long tenure at the Danbury property, the home moved farther back from the road and expanded, according to the outlet. Paris Hilton snags Mark Wahlberg's extravagant former megamansion in CA for $63M

A couple years after actor Mark Wahlberg unloaded his massive, nearly 30,000-square-foot megamansion for $55 million, another superstar picked it up for a higher price of $63 million. Paris Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum. And it was her brother, Barron Hilton, and his partner and co-CEO Tessa Hilton who helped them purchase the Beverly Park home by being their representatives, according to a news release. Ginger Glass and Alexandra Glass at Compass represented the sellers. 'From the first walk-through, it was clear how special this home was. It's timeless, and rooted in a community that already means so much to them. We're excited to see it become part of their story,' Barron said. While the estate was owned by an LLC linked to Shenzhen-based business mogul Xu Hang, Mansion Global reported, the 'Four Brothers' actor attempted to sell it for a much pricier number in 2022 — $87.5 million, the Sacramento Bee reported. One of the main features that drew in the heiress and her husband happened to be the neighborhood, the release noted. 'Helping Paris and Carter find their home here was a full-circle moment. Beverly Park has always been one of LA's most iconic neighborhoods, and this estate felt like the right fit—private, grand, and built for family,' Tessa said.

Bob Barker's LA home of 50 years lists for $8.19M following extensive renovations — and the results are dazzling

Come on down — again. The longtime Los Angeles home of the late legendary game show host Bob Barker is making a stylish return to the market with an $8.19 million asking price, following a comprehensive restoration by its new owner, British interior designer Julia Dempster. Mansion Global first reported news of the listing. Dempster purchased the Spanish Colonial Revival estate in April 2024 for $3.78 million — about $800,000 over the asking price — outbidding 15 other interested buyers. Advertisement But for her, it wasn't the celebrity pedigree that sealed the deal. 13 The home is back on the market after a meticulous yearlong renovation by interior designer Julia Dempster, who purchased the property in April 2024 for $3.78 million. Christopher Amitrano / CS8 Photo 'I'm British, so I didn't even know who Bob Barker was — that was an added bonus,' she told the outlet. Advertisement Instead, she was drawn to what she described as the 'beautiful original architecture and the arches, the arched doorways, the original ironwork and clay tile roof. I just love Spanish architecture from the 1920s—this is my dream home.' Built in 1929 and located in Hollywood's historic Outpost Estates, the roughly 5,900-square-foot property had been owned by Barker for over half a century. He passed away in August 2023 at the age of 99. 13 Bob Barker at his home in 2000 displaying his many Emmy Awards at home in Los Angeles. Advertisement She undertook the renovation with a reverence for the home's original character. 'Every intervention was made with respect to the original architecture,' she said. 13 Dempster paid $800,000 over asking amid fierce competition. Christopher Amitrano / CS8 Photo 13 Though unaware of Barker's fame, Dempster was captivated by the 1929 Spanish Colonial Revival home's original architecture, including arched doorways, ironwork and clay tile roof. Christopher Amitrano / CS8 Photo Advertisement 13 Determined to preserve its historic charm, she restored or replicated original elements where possible, such as the iron balustrade and wood doors. Christopher Amitrano / CS8 Photo In some cases, however, preservation wasn't possible. She had hoped to keep the original wood floors, but water damage forced her to replace most of them — except in the main living room, where the original coffered ceiling, stained-glass window and wood fireplace mantel remain intact. The home's doors were salvaged and painstakingly restored, and even the iron balustrade was reused — though not without modification. 'I used the original ironwork balustrade, but it didn't meet code. So, I removed it and we increased the height using the existing balustrade,' she explained. 13 The home occupies 5,900 square feet. She added Portola Roman clay to the white walls for a warmer texture, and reimagined the 6.5 bathrooms with contemporary finishes like marble shower walls and gold fixtures after concluding the original colorful tiles were too far gone. 'There were lots of things I wanted to keep, but they were just past the point of no return,' she said. The listing, held by George Ouzounian and Jordan Ginsburg of the Agency, describes six bedrooms, including two primary suites. One features an oversized dressing room with a window seat that could be converted into a seventh bedroom. 13 One of six bedrooms. Christopher Amitrano / CS8 Photo Advertisement Outside, Dempster focused on light-touch improvements to maintain the home's timeless appeal. She repaired broken patio stones around the pool, added a barbecue and repainted the exterior. Even the roof was redone 'in a way that looks like I haven't touched it,' she said.

Jake Paul has spent $39M for a massive Georgia ranch — ‘I wanted a place where I can wakesurf, hunt and build a racetrack'

Jake Paul, the YouTube star-turned-prizefighter, has just picked up a sprawling piece of Southern sporting history. The 27-year-old paid $39 million for a roughly 5,653-acre ranch in Georgia's Decatur County known as Southlands, in what brokers say is one of the largest recreational land deals in the state's history, according to a press release. The property, which came to market in October for $42.5 million, hadn't been publicly offered for nearly 90 years. Paul discussed the purchase earlier this month on 'The Iced Coffee Hour' podcast, revealing he used the bulk of his roughly $30 million earnings from his 2024 boxing match against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson to fund the acquisition. 'It's always been a dream of mine,' Paul said. 'I've wanted to buy a ranch for the last 15 years.' Set roughly 8 miles from Bainbridge, the plantation is a rare find in Georgia's quail belt. In addition to wild quail, the estate is home to trophy white-tail deer and features a variety of natural amenities, including 5 miles of spring-fed creeks, a stocked lake, a duck pond, a 60-acre irrigated field and direct frontage on Lake Seminole. Less than 3% of the land is wetlands. Jon Kohler of Jon Kohler & Associates, who co-listed the property with Walter Hatchett, likened the significance of the sale to owning a sports franchise. 'Southlands is an institution; it's like owning your own professional football team,' Kohler told Mansion Global. 'You get history, culture and traditions, and you're a land steward dictating its future.' The ranch includes a recently renovated 4,884-square-foot main lodge with eight bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one half bath. The grounds also hold a collection of updated and new outbuildings, including a four-stall barn for horseback and quail hunting, a manager's house and guesthouse, a pavilion, an equipment shed, a workshop and a cooler facility for game processing. Southlands was previously owned by Brian Philpot, CEO and principal owner of AgAmerica Lending, which specializes in agricultural loans. Philpot acquired the property in 2023 through a private transaction; the price was not disclosed. For Paul, who recalled spending time at a cabin with his father as a child, the purchase is about more than luxury. 'I wanted a place where I can wakesurf, hunt and build a racetrack,' he said on the podcast.
