As excitement grows around 'Housefull 5', director Tarun Mansukhani has looked back on a key moment from his early days in the film industry – working with Shah Rukh Khan . In a recent chat with Galatta India, the filmmaker spoke about the valuable lessons he picked up from the Bollywood superstar while shooting 'Dostana', calling the experience 'amazing'. Shah Rukh's Dedication Left a Strong Impression Mansukhani fondly remembered Shah Rukh Khan's dedication on set. 'There's never a day with him where the scene isn't completed,' he said. 'You'll never hear him say he wants to go home. It's always, 'Have you finished your work for the day?'' The director pointed out that SRK's efforts went far beyond just acting. 'I've seen him picking up chairs and helping wrap up shoots quickly when rain was approaching. He'd become like an assistant director just to get things done efficiently,' he shared, praising Khan's hands-on nature and his willingness to guide younger team members. Advice That Shaped a Director's Thinking One of the most striking bits of advice came during 'Dostana', when Shah Rukh offered Mansukhani a much-needed reality check about directing. 'He told me, 'What you think is directing is just 1% of filmmaking. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo 99% is about handling people,'' Mansukhani said. 'Housefull 5' director Tarun Mansukhani reveals they had to stop shooting due to safety concerns:
'Housefull 5' director Tarun Mansukhani faced challenges filming on a cruise ship, including a storm that halted shooting for safety. Managing 19 stars, he emphasized casting well-developed roles only. The energetic presence of Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff boosted morale. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film releases June 6. Since the release of its trailer on social media, Akshay Kumar 's 'Housefull 5' has created quite a buzz. Scheduled for a June 6 theatrical release, this comedy-drama promises an entertaining mix of humor and suspense. The story unfolds on a cruise ship, where a billionaire's contested inheritance sparks a whirlwind of chaos, comedy, and even murder. Interestingly, the filming experience matched the excitement of the plot. Director Tarun Mansukhani recently recounted a memorable incident during the cruise shoot when the ship's captain raised objections, adding an unexpected twist to the production. Challenges of Filming on a Cruise Ship Mansukhani spoke about the challenges of filming 'Housefull 5' on a cruise ship over 40 days. He emphasized the need to memorize the entire layout of the ship to avoid being in the wrong place during shooting. Additionally, maintaining balance while filming was difficult due to the ship's movement, and the constantly changing weather added to the complexity of the shoot. Storm Forces Halt in Filming Mansukhani described how stormy weather severely disrupted the filming of 'Housefull 5', during a chat with Mid-day. During the storm, people found it difficult to stand, and cameras were at risk of being blown away. Due to these safety concerns, the captain ordered the filming to be stopped on the second day of the storm. Managing a Star-Studded Ensemble 'Housefull 5' features an ensemble of 19 prominent actors, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff, which presented a significant challenge for director Tarun Mansukhani. Unlike his previous projects like 'Dostana' and 'Drive' that had smaller casts, Mansukhani carefully structured the screenplay to give each actor ample opportunity to shine on screen. Casting Philosophy and Approach Returning to direction after six years, Mansukhani shared that his casting approach involves offering roles to big stars only if the characters are well-developed during the writing process. He believes there is little value in casting a star for just one or two scenes and made a conscious decision to approach only those actors whose characters are prominent in the story. Energetic Atmosphere on Set He added that the presence of Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff on the 'Housefull 5' set energized the entire crew, with their lively and unexpected antics catching everyone off guard. Star-Studded Cast 'Housefull 5', produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, boasts an impressive cast that includes Nana Patekar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Soundarya Sharma , Chunky Panday, Nikitin Dheer, Johnny Lever, Dino Morea , Shreyas Talpade, and Fardeen Khan. Man Industries to complete Saudi facility in FY26, says MD Nikhil Mansukhani
Man Industries (India) Ltd, a major producer of industrial-grade pipes for the oil and gas and water sectors, plans to complete its ₹ 650 crore pipe manufacturing expansion facility in Damman, Saudi Arabia, in the current fiscal year, said its managing director Nikhil Mansukhani in an interview. This will help it capitalise on growing demand and local import duties and cater to growing markets in Europe and America. The company was looking forward to the completion of two of its expansion projects in Saudi Arabia and another in Jammu and Kashmir, as both had the potential to add $500 million to its top line at full capacity, Mansukhani added. Man Industries, which reported profits of just below ₹ 100 crore and revenues in excess of ₹ 2,200 crore in the first nine months of 2024-25, is targeting a 30-35% rise in revenue from its existing facilities in India in 2025-26, with momentum continuing into 2026-27, where growth could touch 40% on the back of the company's overseas and Indian expansion projects getting onstream, Mansukhani said. 'We will be making close to ₹ 500 crore capex in 2025-26 to complete the plants that would go onstream by October-November. They would produce high-value pipes that would help the company grow its revenue. The 22,000 tonne Jammu plant of stainless steel seamless pipes and tubes itself can provide a ₹ 1,000-1,200 crore revenue boost to the company,' said Mansukhani. Apart from making special-grade pipes for the oil and gas sector and the transportation of water, Man Industries is also entering the manufacturing of special-grade pipes that could transport hydrogen. These pipes have already been tested and certified in Italy. The company is expecting orders from European countries, which are already developing a new pipeline network for transporting LNG that can later be used for hydrogen. Justifying its plan to have a greenfield facility in Saudi Arabia, Mansukhani said the country is levying a 20% duty on imports, on top of the freight cost of $100-200 per tonne incurred for shipping large diameter pipes. 'Thus it makes sense to make in Saudi Arabia to be cost competitive. Also, we see big potential for our products, as all the Saudi players are booked for the next 2-3 years,' said Mansukhani. Man Industries is a major player in the line pipe industry, specialising in the production of large diameter carbon steel saw pipes. First Published: 2 May 2025, 07:05 PM IST
