Time of India3 days ago

'Housefull 5' director Tarun Mansukhani faced challenges filming on a cruise ship, including a storm that halted shooting for safety. Managing 19 stars, he emphasized casting well-developed roles only. The energetic presence of Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff boosted morale. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film releases June 6.
Since the release of its trailer on social media,
Akshay Kumar
's 'Housefull 5' has created quite a buzz. Scheduled for a June 6 theatrical release, this comedy-drama promises an entertaining mix of humor and suspense.
The story unfolds on a cruise ship, where a billionaire's contested inheritance sparks a whirlwind of chaos, comedy, and even murder.
Interestingly, the filming experience matched the excitement of the plot. Director
Tarun Mansukhani
recently recounted a memorable incident during the cruise shoot when the ship's captain raised objections, adding an unexpected twist to the production.
Challenges of Filming on a Cruise Ship
Mansukhani spoke about the challenges of filming 'Housefull 5' on a cruise ship over 40 days.
He emphasized the need to memorize the entire layout of the ship to avoid being in the wrong place during shooting. Additionally, maintaining balance while filming was difficult due to the ship's movement, and the constantly changing weather added to the complexity of the shoot.
Storm Forces Halt in Filming
Mansukhani described how stormy weather severely disrupted the filming of 'Housefull 5', during a chat with Mid-day.
During the storm, people found it difficult to stand, and cameras were at risk of being blown away. Due to these safety concerns, the captain ordered the filming to be stopped on the second day of the storm.
Managing a Star-Studded Ensemble
'Housefull 5' features an ensemble of 19 prominent actors, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff, which presented a significant challenge for director Tarun Mansukhani.
Unlike his previous projects like 'Dostana' and 'Drive' that had smaller casts, Mansukhani carefully structured the screenplay to give each actor ample opportunity to shine on screen.
Casting Philosophy and Approach
Returning to direction after six years, Mansukhani shared that his casting approach involves offering roles to big stars only if the characters are well-developed during the writing process. He believes there is little value in casting a star for just one or two scenes and made a conscious decision to approach only those actors whose characters are prominent in the story.
Energetic Atmosphere on Set
He added that the presence of Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff on the 'Housefull 5' set energized the entire crew, with their lively and unexpected antics catching everyone off guard.
Star-Studded Cast
'Housefull 5', produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, boasts an impressive cast that includes Nana Patekar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh,
Soundarya Sharma
, Chunky Panday, Nikitin Dheer, Johnny Lever,
Dino Morea
, Shreyas Talpade, and Fardeen Khan.

Aayush Sharma Opens Up On Working With Sanjay Dutt In My Punjabi Nikaah

Last Updated: Aayush said he was stunned when he got to know that the project would also star Sanjay as the parallel lead. Aayush Sharma is currently busy with the preparations of his upcoming film, My Punjabi Nikaah, wherein he will be seen sharing the screen space with actor Sanjay Dutt. The project is being helmed by Sohail Khan. As the team begins the production of the movie, Aayush recently opened up about his first reaction when he got to know that the film would also star Sanjay in the parallel lead. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, the actor said, 'When the film My Punjabi Nikaah came to me and I realised it would also star Sanjay Dutt sir, I was stunned beyond words. I needed some time to process the freshness of sharing the space with a legendary actor. I mean, he has decades of experience working in Indian cinema, and it goes without saying that he will add weight to the overall story. So for the time being, all I want to do is start shooting with him and learn from him." As per the sources close to the development, My Punjabi Nikaah won't focus on the usual high-octane drama with which both the actors are often associated. Instead, it will be a comedy filled with laughter and lighthearted moments. Ahead of the shoot, Sohail Khan met the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, and the Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, implying the major portion of the film will be shot in Haryana and Punjab. He shared photos of his meeting with politicians and wrote, 'I was overwhelmed, and my heartfelt gratitude to all of the senior politicians who are making my ambitious path as comfortable as possible. The love, affection, support, and accommodations shown to us are greatly appreciated. I truly appreciate everyone from the bottom of my heart, and I shall cherish your kindness for the remainder of my life. God Bless You All. Jai Hind." An official release date of the film is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Aayush was last seen in the action thriller film Ruslaan. Sanjay, on the other hand, is currently busy promoting his next Housefull 5, slated to hit the big screens on June 6. First Published:

POLL: Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 will be released in two versions, which will you watch? Vote Now

Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 is buzzing among the audience all for positive reasons. As the movie gets closer to release, franchise regulars Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh have officially announced an interesting release twist for the upcoming comedy caper. Taking the excitement bar a notch higher, the team has announced Housefull to release in two different versions- Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B. Now, Pinkvilla is conducting a poll for all the fans to know their first choices. Go and cast your vote right below. As Housefull 5 is promoted as a killer comedy, which means that the plot includes a murder investigation, and a Whodunit angle, the movie is planned to have two different climaxes and two different killers through one-of-a-kind release. Bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the fifth installment of the popular comedy franchise is among the biggest box office bets from Bollywood this year. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 boasts an ensemble star cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Fardeen Khan, Chitrangda Singh, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, and Soundarya Sharma. The movie is billed as the most expensive comedy film ever made in India. Pinkvilla recently reported that the production cost of Housefull 5 is Rs 225 crore, excluding PnA expenses. For the unversed, Housefull 5 is releasing on June 6th. It is expected to have a wide release across the nation. However, the movie will face a major clash with Kamal Haasan starrer Thug Life, ready to dent its box office potential in the Hindi belt. The box office fate of Housefull 5 will be very crucial for Akshay Kumar as his last few releases couldn't hit the right chords with the audience and ended up being commercial duds. All eyes are now on the initial word-of-mouth of Housefull 5 as this will shape whether the movie can end the dearth of a Clean Hit movie for Khiladi Kumar or not. It will be interesting to see how the Akshay Kumar movie performs at the box office and whether this unique release strategy can help it luring the audience to the cinemas.

Bhool Chuk Maaf Box Office Collection Day 11: Rajkummar Rao-Wamiqa Gabbi film earns Rs 62.82 crore, will finish strong in last three days of its theatrical release

Bhool Chuk Maaf Box Office Collection Day 11: Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi's Bhool Chuk Maaf is certainly making a mark during its limited theatrical run. Released on May 23 in the theatres, the film was expected to struggle because of its unique two-week run at the theatres before it starts streaming on OTT. Consisting of only two weekends, this kind of run limits the power of the word of mouth and doesn't provide the film with the chance of making some real money. The film, however, has managed to do well in the circumstances. Directed by Karan Sharma, the film has already gone past films such as Shahid Kapoor's Deva that had an India net collection of just Rs 33.9 crore, while John Abraham's much awaited The Diplomat earned Rs 40.73 crore. Bhool Chuk Maaf, with the 'time-loop' conflict at the centre of its narrative, has managed to overshadow all these films, including some more that were released this year, and the makers will be hoping for a strong finish. The occupancy rates maintained an average of 10%, with the morning and afternoon shows bringing in 5.27% and 11.78%, respectively, while the evening and night shows achieved 11.06% and 12.47%. ALSO READ: PVR-Inox top boss declares Rajkummar Rao's Bhool Chuk Maaf a 'genuine hit' after theatrical release dispute: 'Has revived theatres' The reason why the remaining three weekdays are even more crucial for the film is that new competitors will be entering the arena right as it makes its exit. The Mani Ratnam directorial Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan, will be releasing on June 5, and the ensemble comedy Housefull 5 is releasing on June 6. Thug Life marks the return of Ratnam and Haasan coming together, while Housefull 5 has a cast which is bound to chew away a big chunk of Bhool Chuk Maaf's audience. The cast of Housefull 5 includes Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie Shroff, and Nana Patekar. Bhool Chuk Maaf might have been able to draw some audiences to the theatres while competing with the two aforementioned movies, but that question will remain unanswered as the film will be released on Prime Video on June 6, ending its theatrical run. Initially due to the recent India-Pakistan conflict, the makers of the film had decided to launch the film straight to OTT, but multiplex group PVR INOX intervened with a lawsuit. Post the legal action, Maddock Films decided to have this one-off two-week theatrical run.
