Five held for contract killings in Patna City

Patna: Police have arrested three sharpshooters and two of their accomplices allegedly involved in a series of contract killings in Patna City, including the murder of one Mantu Rai at Dulli Ghat under Khajekalan police station on May 19.
The arrested criminals have been identified as Ayush Kumar, Rajan Kumar alias Chhotu Kumar, Sonu Kumar alias Aditya Raj, Chhotu alias Rohit and Aniket alias Golu. During interrogation, they confessed to carrying out several killings for money in the areas of Patna City, Malsalami, Ramkrishna Nagar and Khajekalan.
Two country-made pistols, five live cartridges, two motorcycles and two cellphones were recovered from them.
Outgoing Patna SSP Avakash Kumar, speaking to the reporters on Sunday, confirmed their involvement in a series of murders on contract. "The person who gave the contract to kill Mantu Rai has been identified and will be arrested soon. This arrest is expected to put a stop to the recent murders in the Patna City area. All the accused are in their early 20s. The police are also trying to investigate where the killers are getting the weapons," he said.
Kumar expressed confidence that Patna Police would continue to take firm action against criminal elements.
