Patriarch Rahi Easter Message: Call for Peace, Educational Reform, and Support for Teachers

The Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, delivered an Easter message, stating: "Enough with wars and the manufacturing of weapons, and enough with trading them; the world needs bread, not weapons, let the operations of abortion and the killing of innocents stop, and let the hands of those who are able open to fill the empty hands." He also called for a comprehensive educational reform workshop and a constructive educational dialogue, saying: "In light of the growing challenges faced by the educational sector, there must be a comprehensive reform workshop that starts with the freedom of education guaranteed by the constitution and the Charter of Human Rights, which affirms every individual's right to learn. This workshop can only bear fruit through a constructive dialogue involving all those concerned with educational affairs." He further called for the approval of legislation that preserves free education, ensures a decent living for teachers, and supports the continuity of private schools, especially in remote areas, where these schools are the only guarantee for the continuation of education and upbringing... This is our only hope." Watch the attached video for the full speech.

Rahi receives Editors Syndicate, renews call for national dialogue

Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, met with the Editors Syndicate, headed by Joseph Al-Kosseifi, at Bkerki to discuss the country's deteriorating situation. Al-Kosseifi urged the launch of a national reconciliation conference to support the government's efforts and build a resilient state amid regional and international transformations. Patriarch Rahi reaffirmed the need for such a conference, warning that foreign allegiances remain a key obstacle to national unity. He added that, failing internal consensus, international efforts may be necessary. Commenting on regional developments, Al-Rahi expressed concern over the state of Christians in Syria, saying recent violence has left communities anxious. In Lebanon, the Maronite Patriarch emphasized there is no fear for Christians and renewed his call to unify arms under the state, as per the Taif Accord, stressing that the solution must be diplomatic. He concluded by encouraging Christian youth to join state institutions and called on the state to provide real opportunities for all Lebanese.

Rahi: Israeli Attacks Violate Ceasefire, Calls for State-Controlled Weapons

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi announced after meeting with President of the Republic Joseph Aoun at the Baabda Palace that "we discussed general matters and did not address the Israeli attacks on some Lebanese towns," adding, "The Israeli attacks are violations of the ceasefire, Lebanon is committed to diplomatic efforts, and weapons must be in the hands of the state." Rahi emphasized that "Qlayaat Airport is essential, as having two airports in Lebanon is important, especially for northern residents; multiple airports create job opportunities for Lebanese people, and reforms are a top priority for the president."

Rahi: Lebanon Is Not a Battlefield

Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, stated that "the time has come for Lebanon to regain its Arab role and return to its natural position within the Arab community, through restoring its constitutional legitimacy, and striving to regain its Arab legitimacy in cooperation with sister countries, paving the way for its full return to international legitimacy." In his speech during the annual mass of Caritas Lebanon, Rahi said, "The new Lebanon: A beacon of positive neutrality and openness to the world. In this vision, Lebanon is a "country of meeting," not a "battlefield." This vision aligns with Lebanon's history as a state founded on pluralism, cultural exchange, and values of freedom, modernity, and creativity. These principles are essential for fostering a more stable and prosperous future for the Arab world. Lebanon remains, as it always has been, an authentic Arab state, a bridge between East and West."
