Rahi: This Process Excludes the Diaspora So Abolish This Article
President Joseph Aoun and First Lady Nehmat Aoun participated in the Mar Charbel Feast Mass at Deir Mar Maroun in Aannaya.
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi delivered a sermon addressing President Aoun, saying: 'Your presence today confirms that Lebanon, despite everything, still stands on two fundamental pillars which are God and His saints. We pray that God grants you increased patience and wisdom in leading Lebanon, which is going through delicate and difficult times that require careful consideration in finding solutions, and you believe in this and work for it.'
Rahi emphasized that 'Lebanon needs leaders who speak less and work more, who do not seek personal glory but rather work quietly.' He added: 'Saint Charbel tells every official to 'return to God and ethics, to the true Lebanon, to inner courage, wisdom, clear and right decisions, and personal selflessness for the common good.''
He also stressed that 'limiting the diaspora to six parliamentary seats contradicts their connection to their homeland and participation in Lebanese political life. What we see in Article 112 is a process of exclusion that denies the diaspora their natural right to vote in all electoral districts; therefore, this article must be abolished.'
