Chelsea: Marc Guiu and Lesley Ugochukwu complete moves as Blues continue squad clearout

Chelsea striker Marc Guiu will spend next season on loan at Sunderland, while midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu has completed a permanent transfer to Burnley. Guiu moved from Barcelona to west London last summer, impressing in his limited appearances before missing much of the second half of the season through injury. After Chelsea added considerable attacking reinforcements this summer, spending £90million on the additions of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, he has opted to spend next season on Wearside. The deal is for a simple loan with no option to buy. On signing, Guiu said: 'I'm feeling great and really looking forward to the season ahead. 'This year is a huge opportunity for me to help take this team where it truly deserves to be, and I can't wait to get started.' Ugochukwu joins the young Spaniard in moving to greener pastures this summer after his move to Burnley was confirmed for a fee of around £20m. He arrived from Rennes in 2023 but struggled to establish himself in west London. He leaves on a permanent deal after being relegated while on loan with Southampton last season. After signing his five-year contract, he said: 'As soon as I was made aware of the club's interest in signing me, I was keen to hear more about the project. I spoke to the manager and Maxime (Estève) – they were both so passionate about the club and the direction it's heading in. 'It feels like this is the perfect move for me at this stage of my career with the ambition the club is showing.' Guiu and Ugochukwu follow Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, and Djorde Petrovic in leaving Stamford Bridge this summer. Both Sunderland and Burnley are in the midst of ambitious transfer windows. The Black Cats have invested some £123m in their squad this summer as they look to survive in the top flight, while the Clarets have spent just shy of £65m.
