Tickets via Ticketmaster or Bineshtarigh's 'Group Show' on at Southern Guild Floor plan: Kamyar Bineshtarigh is to exhibit in Cape Town. This month, Southern Guild presents Group Show, Kamyar Bineshtarigh's second solo exhibition with the gallery, opening in Cape Town on 21 August and running until 8 November. Known for his distinctive wall-transfer technique, Bineshtarigh peels layers of paint, plaster, markings and textures directly from the walls and floors of artists' studios across South Africa. These extracted surfaces — from pristine to paint-splattered, from quiet textures to densely marked references — carry the residue of creative processes, social exchanges and lived histories. In Group Show, the studio itself becomes both subject and material, thus blurring the lines between the site of making and the gallery display. Featuring transfers from artists such as Mary Sibande, Nandipha Mntambo and Brett Charles Seiler, the exhibition reads like an archaeological archive of artistic labour. Each piece is a preserved fragment, a memorial to the often-unseen environments that nurture creation, now suspended in time within the gallery walls.

AUSTIN - Now's the time to weigh in on proposed projects in communities across the state. The Texas Department of Transportation is working on a new 10-year statewide transportation plan to meet the demand of a growing population and a thriving economy. What is the 10-year plan? This will be the third consecutive year the UTP exceeds $100 billion. Starting June 27, the public has the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft plan. 'Hearing from the public and collaborating with our transportation partners across the state will inform this plan to increase safety, meet the demand of a growing state and improve Texans' access to jobs, family and quality of life,' said TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams. Updated each year, the UTP 'road map' guides project development to improve safety, address congestion and connectivity and preserve roadways for Texas drivers. It also includes public transportation, maritime, aviation, rail, freight, international trade and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity. Concerns raised over huge solar farm
People living near a proposed solar farm in Lincolnshire have been giving their views at a public hearing. Plans for the Springwell solar farm in North Kesteven have been under scrutiny by government-appointed planning inspectors. The site near Navenby would eventually cover an area the size of 1,700 football pitches. Developers EDF Renewables UK and Luminous Energy said it would power 180,000 homes and help the transition to renewable energy. According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), the plans have attracted opposition. Dozens of local people attended the hearings at the County Assembly Rooms in Lincoln. Marc Williams, who leads the Springwell Solar Farm Action Group, told LDRS: "The community is so concerned about this. "We usually get two or three people at parish council meetings. Whenever this is on the agenda, 70 or 80 will turn up. "Everyone's against it, apart from those who will profit." Conservative councillor Rob Kendrick told the planning inspectors: "The amount of developments are of grave concern to residents. "Lincolnshire is marketed as the county of big skies, but it will become the county of big solar. That must have a negative impact on lives and employment." Representatives for the applicant told the inspectors that the large scale was necessary to make it commercially feasible. The land is owned by the Blankney Estate and the project designs had intentionally avoided Grade One farmland, they added. In a statement, project development manager Rory Carmichael said the firm had made changes to the plans "following extensive consultation and engagement with the community". "During this six-month examination, members of the public can share their views on our updated proposals directly to the Planning Inspectorate in writing, and at public hearings like the ones held this week. "We encourage everyone local to the project to have their say." The planning inspectorate will make a recommendation to the government, which is expected to make a final decision by spring 2026. TxDOT launches new pedestrian and bike safety campaign
TEXARKANA, Tx. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Texas Department of Transportation is launching the 'Be Safe. Drive Smart' campaign to combat the rise in pedestrian and cyclist deaths on Texas roads. 'Pedestrians and cyclists are among our most at-risk road users, and too many of them are killed or injured in our communities each year,' said TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams. 'If everyone looks out for each other and follows the rules of the road, we can help prevent these terrible crashes.' Investigators seek man for alleged drug operation that crossed Texas state line According to the TxDOT, the campaign aims to remind Texans to follow traffic laws and share the road safely with people walking and biking. 'TxDOT's campaign aims to raise awareness among all Texans—drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike—of the shared responsibility to help everyone get where they're going safely,' a press release stated. 'To support this goal, the 'Be Safe. Drive Smart' campaign is sending teams of 'walking billboards' around the state to share vital safety messages in crash-prone areas.' Visit for more information about the campaign and a list of safety tips for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
