Marco's Pizza opens 41 new stores in H1 2025

Marco's Pizza, based in the US state of Ohio, has launched 41 new stores in the first half (H1) of 2025, signalling its international expansion and continued investment in franchisee performance. The brand's strategic, data-driven real estate approach, leveraging consumer behaviour insights and predictive tools, identifies untapped markets and drives growth despite rising capital costs and stiff competition. The company's new technology tools support a projected 28% increase in new store openings year-on-year. Marco's Pizza chief development officer Gerardo Flores stated: 'We entered 2025 with momentum from a very intentional development strategy – and that pipeline is now turning into stores.' Current franchisees, who accounted for close to 65% of the signed agreements in 2024, are actively growing with Marco's. To facilitate further growth, the brand recently introduced a franchise development royalty incentive programme, offering early-stage royalty incentives starting at 0% and providing comprehensive support in construction, real estate and operations to qualified multi-unit owners. Internationally, Marco's is celebrating a year since its first store opening in Mexico and a decade in Puerto Rico. The Mexico expansion, led by 50-unit master franchise partner Grupo Pizza Amantes, is set to reach three to four locations by the end of 2025. There are 66 locations across Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Mexico, with plans for Canada and Latin America. Emphasising its "people first, mission always" philosophy, Marco's is scaling its "We're Golden" development programme to train franchisees across 700 outlets. In early 2025, it reintroduced longtime team member Joe Stephens as real estate vice-president to assist franchisees with site selection and real estate consultations. Stephens, who has been with the brand for 13 years, offers industry knowledge to expedite store openings in crucial markets. In April 2025, Marco's Pizza introduced Pepperoni Bread for a limited period in the US, priced at $5 at select outlets. A southwest Harnett County woman faces 18 felonies related to ordering food online with someone else's card. Kiersten Amber Wethington, 31, of the 80 block of Treetops Road in Johnsonville, west of Carolina Lakes Golf Course, was arrested June 6 and held in the Harnett County Jail on a $30,000 secured bond. Wethington allegedly ordered food items from Marco's Pizza seven times between June 22 and July 24, 2024 totaling $509 and from Tropical Smoothie Cafe 11 times from July 1 and Sept. 20, 2024 totaling $863. She is also charged with two misdemeanors for larceny and shoplifting in Hoke County stemming from Oct. 6, 2023. Wethington failed to appear in court twice in relation to those charges. Her June 6 arrest included a warrant for failure to appear. She was charged with misdemeanor simple assault in Harnett County stemming from May 18, 2021, but the case was dismissed with the note, 'parties agree,' according to eCourts. She was arrested by the Fayetteville Police Department stemming from June 23, 2020 on a misdemeanor charge of larceny by employee. The charge was dismissed because restitution was paid in full, according to eCourts. She was charged with misdemeanor simple assault stemming from Feb. 16, 2018 in Cumberland County. The charge was dismissed due to the 5th Amendment right against self incrimination claimed by Dylan Richard Wethington, according to eCourts, which is a right afforded a spouse. Dylan Wethington has had four charges against him dismissed for assault on a female, simple assault and a protective order from 2018 and 2019 because the prosecuting witness did not appear, according to eCourts. He filed for divorce in Scotland County, which was granted on Oct. 30, 2023. The couple were married for 10 years and had four children. They had been separated since December 2019, according to eCourts.
