Photo: GeoNet Levin has experienced an earthquake registering 4.1 on the Richter scale on Monday evening. The event occurred at 5.16pm, centred about 10km northwest of the Horowhenua township, at a depth of 36km. It was felt as far north as Taupō and New Plymouth, as south in Nelson. Most residents didn't seem to notice. "Was in Levin and it hardly moved," Marilyn Dolan posted on the Horowhenua District Council's Facebook page. "Smooch hardly moved a whisker." "Nope didn't feel a thing," Margaret Williams posted. "Didn't notice that," Leah Jane said. Others reported feeling the tremors. "Was definitely a good one," Leah Hoby posted. "Felt pretty decent out at Hokio," Tabitha Woods said. "Felt it in Hiwinui," Melissa Yule posted. "Only light though." Carol Wan posted: "Felt it Foxton xx" The quake was the strongest measured in New Zealand since last Wednesday, when GeoNet recorded one at 4.8 south of Stewart Island at a depth of 5km.
