'Now she's the billion dollar spouse': Hailey Bieber's $1B Rhode deal has everyone's jaws on the floor

Yesterday, beauty conglomerate E.l.f announced that it will be acquiring Hailey Bieber's booming entrepreneurial venture, Rhode, for a billion dollars. In just 3 years, the brand has managed to become a top-tier Gen Z hot favourite, having generated $212 million in sales in the last year with all of 10 products. It's Hailey's moment to shine and the internet is definitely here for it! The comments, nearly unanimously hailed the milestone feat: "I mean selling ur company for $1 billion after only being in this space for 3 years is actually pretty mind blowing, even if u don't like Hailey u can't deny this is pretty incredible", "$1B acquisition in 3 years is incredible wow 👏🏾", "Wow !! And all while so many people wanted to see it fail !! Go Hailey ❤️" and "👏🔥 the woman's smart and you can't take that away from her". A post shared by Hailey Rhode Bieber (@haileybieber) But our favourite take? This comment which read, "Not Hailey pulling an uno reverse and becoming the billion dollar spouse 💅🏽💅🏽". Other comments bringing up the quite off putting dynamic with husband Justin Bieber, read to the tune of: "Yessss!!! Now leave that man, bb!". For context, Hailey and Justin's very public relationship has always been bearing the weight of the latter's very public breakup with his former partner of nearly a decade, Selena Gomez. Besides, their public moments have for years been intensely scrutinised to reflect Justin's odd treatment of her. More recently, the singer was seemingly on an online crusade to declare his love for Hailey, what with thirsting over her Met Gala look and serenading her with a Mariachi band on Mother's Day. All of the narrative reversal however, came crashing down after he monopolised her Vogue cover by sharing an anecdote of him telling her that she'd never land the honour — this last bit will surely take some time to be forgotten by the internet, given the intense online debate it sparked. As far as his public reaction to Hailey's Rhode deal, Justin posted the same image she used to make her own announcement in addition to a screenshot of her caption. The post carried no caption of his own. We can't help but think the same as this one comment under his post: "Bro's in caption jail 😩😩😩"?

La Onda 2025: Napa Valley's Latin music festival returns with food, fun and rhythm

La Onda returns to Napa for its second year, celebrating Latin music, food and culture in the heart of Wine Country. The two-day event, scheduled to take place on Saturday-Sunday, May 31 and June 1 at the Napa Valley Expo, featuring an eclectic lineup that spans regional Mexican and several various sub-genres, Latin pop and so much more. Hitting the festival grounds just after BottleRock Napa Valley, a Memorial Day weekend staple, La Onda benefits from much of the same infrastructure. Attendees can expect similar perks, including multi-level seating and lounge areas, a silent disco, VIP experiences and even an on-site spa. The inaugural La Onda in 2024 drew more than 60,000 fans who enjoyed not only musical sets on the main stage but performances by roaming Mariachi bands to electrifying Lucha Libre matches. For festivalgoers looking for the perfect selfie, brightly colored lowriders served as Instagram-ready backdrops. Organizers deemed it a resounding success, with attendees lauding it for representing the vibrant diversity of Latino communities. 'There was something missing in the Northern California festival scene — an authentic, large-scale festival dedicated 100% to Latino culture,' acknowledged Dave Graham, partner at BottleRock Napa Valley which produces the La Onda. 'We saw the response from the crowd and on social media — just how much it was wanted and appreciated. We're excited to bring that same energy into year two.' Who is performing at La Onda 2025? The 2025 lineup promises big names and diverse talent within the Latin music world. On Saturday, May 31, Mexican singer-songwriter Marco Antonio Solis, Banda MS and Pepe Aguilar are expected to take the stage, while Carin León and Grupo Firme are slated to close out the festival on Sunday, June 1. Other highlights include performances by Xavi, Tito Double P, Yuridia, Eden Muñoz, Ángela Aguilar and Clave Especial. Various DJs, from Subelo Neo to Mexican Institute of Sound, will also bring the beats throughout the weekend. Other featured acts include Chino Pacas, La Receta, Camila Fernández, Los Aptos, Sonora Tropicana, MAR, Edgar Alejandro, Christian Nava, Codiciado, Oscar Maydon, Alicia Villarreal, Michelle Maciel, Reyna Tropical, Miguel Cornejo, Erre, Los De La 4, Adriana Ríos and Ysrael Barajas. Where is La Onda? The festival takes place at the Napa Valley Expo, a 26-acre venue just minutes from downtown Napa, which also hosts BottleRock Napa Valley. While La Onda uses much of the same footprint, it has its own distinct personality. 'Our team is super motivated to transform the space into something completely different,' said Justin Dragoo, chief operating officer at BottleRock. 'The decor, the vendors, the sponsors — everything had to reflect the unique spirit of this festival. We love the challenge.' Festival doors open at 11:30 a.m., with the last act ending at 10 p.m. each day. Getting to Festival La Onda 2025 Festivalgoers can easily reach the Napa Valley Expo through a variety of transportation options. Designated ride-hailing pickup and drop-off areas are located at Third and Randolph streets. Vine Transit offers free bus service throughout the weekend. Carpooling is encouraged with limited street parking available on a first-come, first-served basis, while VIP and platinum pass holders enjoy reserved parking. Free bike parking is available at 301 First St. Amtrak San Joaquins provides direct routes with festival shuttles to the venue; and out-of-town visitors can fly into nearby airports. Hotel and transportation packages, including festival shuttles, are available on the La Onda website for cities like San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento and Santa Rosa. What's on the menu at La Onda? One of the festival's main attractions is its incredible culinary offerings. More than 60 renowned eateries will showcase Latin-inspired dishes, with a special focus on the local flavors of Napa Valley, Sonoma County and the greater Bay Area. In addition to the food vendors, guests can enjoy lively bars, wine cabanas and specialty drinks throughout the festival grounds. 'This is a festival designed by Latinos, for Latinos,' said Graham. 'The food, the music, the atmosphere — it's all about celebrating our culture in the heart of one of the best food and wine regions in the world.'

Vigil held for fallen sailors aboard Mexican Navy ship that crashed into Brooklyn Bridge

Some 200 people gathered Wednesday night at a heartbreaking vigil for the young sailors who died or were injured on the Mexican Navy ship Cuauhtémoc after its crash into the Brooklyn Bridge. The solemn crowd — including Mexico and New York City officials, including Mayor Adams — gathered in the pouring rain at the iconic bridge to honor those lost in the crash. A Mariachi band sang Mexican folk songs, and portraits of America Yamilet Sanchez, 20, and Adal Jair Marcos, 23, were plastered on metal barricades along with the U.S. and Mexican flags. 'I understand the circle of life. But when I look at the faces of these young people, these young people who lost their lives in the military service that's important to their country, I don't have the logic,' Mayor Adams said. 'I don't have the words, but all I do know in moments like this, you trust God.' As Adams arrived at the vigil, he bowed his head in front of each of the fallen sailor's portraits, then placed a bundle of white flowers in front of each portrait. 'These are moments when you realize how precious life is and I'm here today because the people of Mexico that live in this city have showed us how much you love your home country, and you love your adopted country, America,' Adams said. The bodies of Sanchez, 20, and Jair Marcos, 23, have been repatriated to Mexico, where a vigil for Sanchez was held. 'We are grieving with the world and our brothers in Mexico,' said Bronx native Fabian Aguilar, 56, a dancer with Ballet Folklorico Mexicano of New York, who attended the vigil. 'We are very sad over this tragedy. We stand in the rain and mourn because we are all brothers.' Madelin Martinez, 16, of Brooklyn said the vigil was 'really touching.' 'It came out of the blue, they were gone in minutes,' Martinez said. 'They were too young to die and they were not with their families. It was so important that they were here. With everything going on and (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), they represented our culture and now they are gone.' According to the FDNY, at least 19 of those aboard were treated for injuries, with 11 initially listed in critical condition. Most of the crew that was aboard Cuauhtémoc — including some who were initially treated for injuries — were announced on Wednesday to be safely back in Mexico, according to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. Following an interagency meeting, discussions were held by the U.S. Coast Guard, NTSB, the ship's contractors and City Hall representatives focusing on the repair efforts on the ship, the crew's welfare and tow logistics, according to city Office of Emergency Management spokesman Aries Dela Cruz. 'USCG continues to support the vessel and crew of the ARM Cuauhtémoc. The US Navy is coordinating shoreside housing while repairs proceed. All injured crew have been discharged from the hospital and are now safely back in Mexico,' Dela Cruz said. 'Final plans for repairing the impacted masts are being prepared for submission to the Coast Guard. A tow plan for the vessel is also in development for USCG review. An underwater hull survey is anticipated for Saturday.' Repairs are currently underway on the ship as officials wrapped up their damage assessment on Tuesday with marine surveyors and contractors accessing the vessel. The Cuauhtémoc hasn't sustained any damage to the hull, which would allow it to be moved from Pier 37, on Manhattan's Lower East Side, with tugboat assistance. The NTSB is also checking if there are any data recorders holding pivotal evidence of how the crash occurred. The training ship is expected to be towed to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where it will be dry-docked as the investigation continues, OEM officials said Tuesday. With wind and rain halting the process of towing the ship, The Cuauhtémoc is expected to move to a dry dock facility by Sunday. The two fatalities occurred when the ship's masts crashed into the underside of the Brooklyn Bridge Saturday night. Multiple crew members aloft in the masts were left dangling in the air by their safety harnesses after the East River crash, but no one ended up in the water.

Justin and Hailey Bieber spending time apart amid buzz about financial strain

Pop superstar Justin Bieber and his model wife Hailey Bieber were spotted spending time apart in Los Angeles on Friday, fuelling ongoing speculation about the state of their marriage and recent reports of financial strain . According to the latest report on TMZ , Justin was seen enjoying a casual outing in West Hollywood with a friend, dressed comfortably in a red hoodie and baggy black sweatpants. Unlike his previous outbursts at the paparazzi, the singer appeared relaxed and didn't attempt to hide from the paparazzi. While recent footage of the star saw him lashing out at the cameramen for taking his photos, this time around, he was seen walking with his hood down. Hailey, on the other hand, opted for a more low-key evening, stepping out with friend Lori Harvey at a trendy Beverly Hills restaurant. Unlike Justin, the beauty kept a noticeably lower profile, using her phone to shield her face from cameras as she made her way to her car. The couple's separate outings come in the wake of renewed public interest in their personal lives, following the release of the new Hulu documentary 'TMZ Investigates: What Happened to Justin Bieber?'. The film explores the singer's ongoing mental health battles and recent financial troubles, including his decision to sell his music catalogue for a reported $200 million, a move insiders suggest was driven by urgent financial needs. While Friday's solo appearances may be innocuous, they're bound to keep fans speculating. The couple seemed to have rubbished divorce rumours when Justin posted a video of his sweet Mother's Day celebrations for Hailey at their home. The hunk not only set up a dreamy dinner but also called in a Mariachi band to serenade his wife with some popular tunes. He was also seen spending time away with his friends at one of his many homes around the country. Photos from his private getaway saw him engaging in jam sessions, which had fans hopeful of some new and exciting music release.
