MoECC dept removes abandoned fishing gear from Umm Al Far Island

Tribune News Network Doha The Marine Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) removed abandoned 'Prism' fishing gear, illegally placed on the eastern side of Umm Al Far Island. This step is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to protect the marine environment and biodiversity, as abandoned fishing gear, such as nets, poses a direct threat to marine life and the ecosystem. The ministry urged fishermen to remove all fishing gear after use to avoid its negative impact on marine life. It also stressed the continuation of its monitoring and awareness campaigns to ensure the sustainability of marine resources and their natural environment.
