Authorities believe person died after ingesting substance at traffic stop in Marinette County

A driver who was pulled over in Marinette County is believed to have ingested a substance prior to dying at an area hospital, authorities say. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the in-custody death. The Marinette County Sheriff's Office said the incident took place June 25 at about midnight near the intersection of County Road B and Poplar Ridge Lane in the town of Grover. "Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, the deputy observed a subject in the driver's seat who appeared to be ingesting a substance," the sheriff's office said in a statement. The person, who has not been identified, was taken into custody and then became unresponsive shortly thereafter. Emergency medical services attempted life-saving measures and the person was transported to hospital, where they died, according to the sheriff's office. WAGNER, Wis. (WFRV) – A woman from Peshtigo died Monday morning after a one-car crash in Marinette County. The crash happened around 9:24 a.m. on County Highway X near Phillips Road in the Town of Wagner, as stated in a press release from the Marinette County Sheriff's Office. Overnight car thefts reported on Neenah's east side, Police seeking suspects According to the Sheriff's Office, 49-year-old Jessica Garbaciak was driving east when she failed to navigate a curve, lost control, and went into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. STEPHENSON, Wis. (WFRV) – Three people were pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Friday night in Marinette County after one driver reportedly missed a stop sign. According to the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a crash on County Highway A at Moonshine Hill Road in the Town of Stephenson around 9:20 p.m. on May 23. Deputies say that based on their investigation, a vehicle driven by 60-year-old Daniel W. Mrotek of Berlin was driving west on Moonshine Hill Road when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a northbound vehicle on County Highway A. The Marinette County Sheriff's Office reported that a dispatchers were alerted to a one-vehicle crash on Cemetery Road in Pembine around 2:25 p.m. Friday.
