Nintendo Switch users snap up underrated Mario game for under £3 in clever deal
"It's the Mario game we all love with an added twist, which makes the levels tougher." The new Nintendo Switch 2 may be on its way, but as prices appear high for the new consol e, many will be planning to stick to the original Switch instead of splashing out on its sequel. One lesser-known Mario offering is currently giving gamers a dose of nostalgia - and what's more, gamers can grab it for less than three quid. Using an offer on simple savings website TopCashback, gamers can snap up Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle for just £2.77. Flipping the classic Super Mario formula on its head, this game sees the Mushroom Kingdom invaded with the pesky Rabbids as the Mario gang work to defeat them in a turn-based strategy spin, reports Manchester Evening News. While it normally costs £17.99, shoppers can currently get this game from Argos for just a few quid by creating a new TopCashback account. By making an account using this link, gamers will get £15 cashback on orders over £15, including this qualifying Mario game. In Mario + Rabbids, the player adopts a top-down perspective, commanding the likes of Mario, Peach and Luigi around battlefields. Using both ranged and hand-to-hand combat abilities, the player is tasked with taking out the irritating Rabbids after they've invaded the Mushroom Kingdom. But if you're not much of a Mario fan, you can also pick up a few other games using the TopCashback deal. Highly-rated classic games such as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Minecraft are all down to £4.99 by using the same trick at Argos. Reviews of Mario + Rabbids sit at 4.6 stars on the Argos site. One reviewer wrote: "My nephew was ecstatic at receiving the game. It's brilliant for young gamers as the controls are basic and repetitive whilst the design and pace makes it feel more mature." Meanwhile, a second reviewer said: "I didn't know I would be a fan of this style of games but ended up loving it so much that a week later, I went back to Argos to buy a sequel. Amazing value for money!" However, be aware that Argos sells this game as a download code only package, meaning there's no physical cartridge in the box. This confusion has led to some negative reviews, with one reading: "Thought they are avoiding too much plastic that's why they sell the code instead of the game card, not sure what the point of the box then? Just confusing customers as the note to ''Download Code Only'' is very small." Another customer felt the same way, with a review reading: "Very good game, only gripe is that this is an online code." But, despite the game being download-only, another happy customer shared: "It's the Mario game we all love with an added twist, which makes the levels tougher." Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown will be released on May 22 for PC via Steam. As the name indicates, this is a turn-based strategy RPG. It also happens to be the first turn-based game in franchise history. It's being developed by Strange Scaffold, who made the fantastic El Paso, Elsewhere. There's a new trailer with plenty of gameplay, which is always nice. One thing that sets this tactical RPG apart from rivals like Unicorn Overlord is that the battles take just a few minutes to complete. As a matter of fact, they look even zippier than the streamlined fights found in the Mario + Rabbids series. The story sounds downright depressing for a TMNT game. 'Splinter and Shredder are dead, and as the Turtles approach adulthood, they're not just growing up... they're growing apart,' a description reads. To that end, most of the levels are played solo with just a single turtle. Come on guys. Hash things out over a large pizza pie! There's no price yet, but preorders are open. Publisher Paramount Game Studios has yet to say anything about a potential console release.
