Elite 5-Star Prospect Makes Feelings Clear After Official Visit to Miami
Elite 5-Star Prospect Makes Feelings Clear After Official Visit to Miami originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's no doubt the Miami Hurricanes have had one of the most successful offseasons in college football, featuring an impressive 2026 recruiting class. Advertisement They already hold 11 total commitments, for a group that ranks No. 1 in the ACC and No. 7 in the nation, and it's clear that head coach Mario Cristobal has no intention of slowing down anytime soon. On Friday, the Hurricanes hosted athlete Lamar Brown for an official visit and in an article by On3's Chad Simmons, he revealed some insight on how things went. 'Miami been good to me ever since the first visit,' Brown said. 'The place and coaches make me comfortable. This official visit was great and I loved everything about it.' Of course, landing someone like Brown would be another major boost for Miami, as On3 Industry Rankings places him as a five-star recruit, the No. 1 athlete, the No. 1 player in Louisiana and the No. 7 player in the nation. Advertisement Miami isn't the only team looking to land his services, though, as he still has official visits lined up with the Texas Longhorns (June 8), the Texas A&M Aggies (June 13) and the LSU Tigers (June 20). As also noted by Simmons, even though Brown has played on both sides of the line throughout his high school career, Miami has been recruiting him to play on the defensive line. Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Navarro-Imagn Images No matter which team he lands with, though, considering he already stands at 6-foot-3.5 and 285 pounds, Brown is the kind of player who can come in and compete for significant playing time as a true freshman. Miami Receives Disappointing News On Elite 4-Star In-State Target
Miami Receives Disappointing News On Elite 4-Star In-State Target originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett is down to three major schools after updating his list on Friday. Advertisement Bennett (6-foot, 170 pounds) plays for high school powerhouse American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The talented playmaker hauled in 24 passes for 509 yards (21.2-yard average) with seven touchdowns and another score on a kickoff return in 2024. Bennett ranks as the No. 16 receiver, the No. 17 player in the state and the No. 107 recruit overall in his class (ESPN). Bennett is also a star sprinter with a personal best of 10.43 in the 100-meter dash. That speed is an extremely coveted attribute, which has, in part, drawn interest from some of the top college football programs in the country. American Heritage Patriots receiver Brandon Bennett (11)Jonah Hinebaugh/Naples Daily News/USA Today Network-Florida / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Miami and head coach Mario Cristobal have been involved in Bennett's recruitment for some time. The Hurricanes were one of the first programs to offer the in-state wideout in February 2023. Advertisement Bennett received a visit from Cristobal and staff members in January this year before taking an unofficial trip to Miami in February. However, the Hurricanes were left out of Bennett's final three schools in favor of in-state rivals Florida and Florida State, alongside Georgia. Bennett will officially visit Georgia over the weekend before taking official trips to Florida State (June 6) and Florida (June 13). Miami has yet to add a wide receiver to its 2026 class, which ranks No. 7 nationally and first in the ACC. An intriguing race to watch is the recruitment of LSU wide receiver commit Tristen Keys, who is slated to visit the Hurricanes on Friday after previously being on campus on April 12. Miami Football Preview 2025: Can Mario Cristobal's Hurricanes Win Everything?
X CFN, Fiu | CFN Facebook | Bluesky Fiu, CFNMiami Offense BreakdownMiami Defense Breakdown Season Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season Can Mario Cristobal finally become a College Football Playoff head coach?Everyone likes to dog the coaches who "can't win the big one" - James Franklin has, ridiculously, been a regular in that discussion. Even more insane is that Ryan Day is, in some circles, still in that mix when it comes to Michigan. But to get to the "big one," you have to beat everyone 13 full seasons as a head coach at FIU, Oregon, and Miami, Cristobal has been underappreciated as a builder of programs. It's lost in history, but Oregon went 11-14 before Cristobal turned everything back around. The Ducks went 35-12 with two Pac-12 Championships and another appearance in his four seasons. But there was always the one strange loss that messed everything 2021, it was to a 3-9 Stanford. In 2019, it was against a mediocre Arizona State. In 2018, it was at now at Miami, he's done a wonderful job of recruiting and developing talent. It took two seasons to push past the mediocrity and into a 2024 season that should've finished with an ACC Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff, but … Syracuse 42, Miami 38. And just like that, it was all Ward pulled a few games out of the fire, the Hurricanes caught a whopper of a break to survive Virginia Tech, and they finished the season No. 1 in total and scoring offense, but it wasn't enough thanks to that date in year's team might be too good to let that happen talent level remains as strong as any in the ACC, the depth is strong, and Cristobal has the program humming. This is when the payoff should be coming, but the Hurricanes need to be amazing again on …Miami Offense BreakdownMiami Defense BreakdownSeason Prediction, Win Total, Keys to Season © 2025 The Arena Group Holdings, Inc. Legendary Georgia QB Highlights Carson Beck's Biggest Red Flag After His $4M Miami Move
Uncertainty surrounds new Miami quarterback Carson Beck following a chaotic offseason. The former four-star helped lead the Georgia Bulldogs to the SEC Championship Game last season before suffering a season-ending elbow injury on the last play of the second quarter against Texas. Advertisement Beck, who had posted a 24-3 record as a two-year starter at UGA, initially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. However, he backed off that decision and entered the transfer portal before signing with the Hurricanes. The effort by head coach Mario Cristobal and the Miami staff to come to a lofty, $4 million Name, Image and Likeness agreement with Beck made a lot of sense after the NFL departure of Cam Ward. Beck led the SEC and finished third nationally in passing as a first-year starter in 2023. And that's the production that the Hurricanes are hoping for in 2025, as Beck's campaign last season left much to be desired. Beck doubled his interception total (12) from the previous year and his completion rate dropped nearly eight percent. Georgia lost two regular season games–Alabama, Ole Miss–after previously going unscathed in that aspect since 2020. Advertisement Former Georgia star quarterback and the SEC's all-time leading passer Aaron Murray needs to see Beck take a step forward in maturity as a sixth-year senior. That extends beyond the football field, too. Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck (15).Melina Myers-Imagn Images "He needs to learn to continue to play within himself, play very mature style of football," Murray said Thursday on On3's "The Hard Count." "And, speaking of the word mature, I think that's the biggest red flag for me right now is where is he in the maturity factor. Because you have heard in the locker room at Georgia there was some disconnect with Carson and his teammates." Much has been made about Beck's relationship with Miami basketball star and social media influencer Hanna Cavinder. It was allegedly viewed as a distraction within the Georgia program, and Murray is concerned that similar issues will leak into Beck's career at Miami. Advertisement "But there are some possible character flaws that you heard from the locker room," Murray said. "Then you're seeing in the offseason with all the nonsense on TikTok and then the girlfriend stuff, and it's too much mess. It's too much for a guy that's going to be 23, 24-years-old. I need you focusing on football." Miami serves as a fresh start for Beck, who is expected to be healthy for fall camp. This could very well be the season that solidifies him as a first-round NFL pick next spring. And Murray is calling for Beck to keep things focused on the task at hand. "You're on a brand new team," he said. "You're coming off an elbow injury. I don't need you in the media other than, 'Hey man, I'm throwing five yards today. I'm throwing 10 yards today. I'm throwing 20 yards today. I'm progressing. I'm learning the playbook. I'm here to lead Miami, the Miami Hurricanes to an ACC championship next year.' Not TikTok news, girlfriend news." Advertisement Murray's brutally honest take didn't come without a silver lining for Miami faithful. He is still very high on Beck's talent as a passer, something that built him into a star at Georgia. "But from a pure talent standpoint, there is no doubt Carson Beck is a very gifted passer of the football," Murray said. Beck is expected to make his Miami debut in the season opener at home against Notre Dame on Aug. 31. Deion Sanders Sends Clear Message to Mel Kiper Jr. After NFL Draft Controversy
The NFL draft is now firmly in the rearview mirror, and while both quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward have found homes for the foreseeable future, some drama surfaced this week involving ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. It started when Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal claimed he had spoken to 'a million people' about Ward during the pre-draft process—except, notably, not Kiper. Advertisement Kiper, a vocal supporter of Sanders throughout the draft, expressed his frustration live on-air as Shedeur continued to slide down the board. For nearly four rounds, Sanders remained the No. 1 overall player on Kiper's big board. Responding to Cristobal's comments on Wednesday, Kiper fired back on social media: 'Mario Cristobal claims he spoke to a million people about Cam Ward, yet the one he didn't speak to—me—had Ward ranked higher (6th on my Big Board) than any other draft expert,' Kiper posted. 'Interesting, isn't it? And oh by the way, I didn't speak to Deion about Shedeur either. I need another Orange Crush after this nonsense.' By Thursday, Colorado Buffaloes head coach—and Shedeur's father—Deion Sanders had responded. Sanders retweeted Kiper's post with a message of appreciation and clarity: 'But I love you, my man! You stood on the desk with great balance, 10 toes down, and said what you doggone said & didn't flinch. You knew what time it was, my man, and we're blessed to be right where God wanted us to be—with OPPORTUNITY. They forgot I was in the TV/entertainment business for 20 years before coaching.' Mel Kiper Jr. has been covering the NFL draft for decades, and he's no stranger to criticism. Known for his bold takes and firm opinions, Kiper rarely flinches in the face of backlash—and this year was no different. Advertisement Throughout the 2025 draft, Kiper remained one of Shedeur Sanders' most vocal supporters, especially as the Colorado quarterback unexpectedly slid down the board. His continued defense of Sanders became a viral storyline after Shedeur went unselected through Day 1 and Day 2. Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion SandersCU Buffs While Cam Ward was selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans, Sanders fell all the way to the fifth round, where the Cleveland Browns finally picked him at No. 144—an outcome that shocked many, including Kiper, who had consistently projected Sanders as a clear first-round talent.
