Watch Stetson Bennett's game-winning TD pass after mini Hail Mary on 4th down
Stetson Bennett knows what it takes to win football games, being a two-time National Champion at the University of Georgia. And while Saturday's game doesn't even come close to comparing to those victories he had in college, it did show he has a flare for the dramatic.
He led the Los Angeles Rams to a thrilling comeback win over the Los Angeles Chargers, 23-22, thanks to two throws that won them the game. The first was a 40-yard mini Hail Mary with 19 seconds left and the Rams facing a fourth-and-10 from the Chargers' 48. Needing a touchdown, the Rams had to have a play that put them close to the end zone.
Bennett was under duress and chucked one up to Mario Williams, a 5-foot-9 undrafted rookie receiver. Williams answered Bennett's prayer by going up and hauling in the pass, setting the Rams up at the 8-yard line.
After a timeout, Bennett set the offense up and delivered a strike to Tru Edwards for the game-winning touchdown with 5 seconds left.
It was a crazy sequence of plays that Bennett, Presley and Edwards will probably never forget, even if few Rams fans remember it because it's a preseason game.
And while it doesn't impact the team's regular-season record, it's always nice to get a win – especially against an opponent you share the stadium with.
