Montgomery County police sergeant arrested on child pornography charges
A Montgomery County police sergeant has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography, according to a statement released by the Montgomery County Department of Police.
Sergeant Mark Burhoe, a 20-year veteran of the department, was taken into custody on Thursday, July 10, by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. Following his arrest, Burhoe was immediately suspended without pay.
'The department takes these charges seriously and is cooperating fully with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office,' the Montgomery County Police said in a statement.
In addition to the criminal case, Montgomery County Police have launched an internal investigation in accordance with department policy.
'These allegations are deeply troubling,' the department said. 'The alleged actions of one individual do not represent the values or conduct of the department. Maintaining public trust remains a priority, and we are committed to transparency and professionalism throughout this process.'
