Mark Consuelos Agrees That He Is More Romantic Than His 'Non-Romantic' Wife Kelly Ripa: 'Like Being Married To A Contractor'

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos both know who the more romantic partner is in their relationship. On Thursday's Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa read that 'men actually crave romantic relationships way more than women do,' which she found 'not surprising' in relation to her marriage with Consuelos. 'When I think of who is romantic between us, I would say you are,' she told Consuelos. 'Do you agree?' Consuelos replied with a chuckle, 'I do agree.' Ripa admitted that she's 'non-romantic,' claiming that she has to 'really focus' on unlocking that part of herself. Consuelos agreed once again, saying that she's 'like being married to a contractor' or 'a construction worker.' 'I'm like, 'Hey, sweetie.' You're like, 'Hey, what's up,'' he teased in a gruff voice. While Ripa read that women are typically portrayed as being 'more invested' in romance than men, 'multiple studies suggest that men place more import on romance and they experience greater mental and physical health benefits from being in a relationship.' Consuelos chimed in, 'Really? Huh.' Ripa teased, 'Which I know that if you and I broke up, you would absolutely fall apart completely.' After Consuelos claimed 'that's true,' he received some sympathy from the audience, before hitting Ripa with a zinger. 'But I do feel like someone would be there on the other end just to pick me up and make sure I'm ok,' he joked. 'I'd have to get used to their college schedule and all that stuff.' Ripa and Consuelos both got a kick out of the moment, as she told her husband, 'Oh my God. Oh, dear God, I hope I live to see your second wife.' While Consuelos attempted to move onto introducing the show's upcoming segments, he and Ripa could not stop laughing, as Ripa told viewers this is her 'favorite conversation.' 'You don't understand. We have these conversations all the time,' she quipped. 'I'm like, 'What would happen if you found out that I faked my own death?' And he's like, 'Well, my new wife and I would, you know, we would be very upset at first.' It's like our favorite conversation.' Live with Kelly and Mark airs on weekdays. Mark Consuelos details the stark realities of a Kelly Ripa break up

Mark Consuelos has dared to think about what his life would look like if he were to ever split from wife Kelly Ripa – and spoiler alert, he wouldn't cope well. The television presenter has been married to his on-screen co-host Kelly, both 54, for almost three decades, but during Thursday's episode of their talk show they took a second to consider what would happen if they divorced. The moment of contemplation occurred as Kelly referred to a study that found that men 'placed more importance on romance' than women. She explained that men 'experience greater mental and physical health benefits from being in a relationship' and 'struggle more with the emotional toll of a breakup.' 'I know if you and I broke up, you would absolutely fall apart, completely,' Kelly then added. Mark agreed and responded: 'That's true.' After prompting a sympathetic coo from the audience, Mark then revealed how he would really cope if his marriage ever did crumble. 'But I do feel like someone would be there on the other end just to pick me up and make sure I'm okay. Pretty sure,' he said. 'I'd have to get used to their college schedule and all that stuff.' Kelly was amused by Mark's remarks and let out a laugh before adding: 'Oh my God. Oh, dear God, I hope I live to see your second wife!' Kelly and Mark, who wed in 1996, have three children together and their youngest, Joaquin Consuelos, 22, graduated from the University of Michigan this year. The couple also have son Michael Consuelos, 27, who graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 2020, and daughter Lola Consuelos, 23, who is also a NYU graduate. They previously revealed how difficult the adjustment was of having their children leave home. 'We became empty nesters. We took our youngest son to college, we dropped him off,' Kelly said on a 2021 episode of her talk show. 'It was hard. It was really hard.' In a joint 2023 interview with People, Mark compared the feeling to 'a loss.' 'It was deep,' he said. 'It was like a loss.' 'When Joaquin left [for the University of Michigan], it was hard, the two of us and the dogs staring at each other, like "Well, now what?"' Kelly said. 'The first dinner I cooked, I'm not kidding, was for 12 people, and it was just the two of us. We sat there with this inordinate amount of food, neither one of us hungry at all,' she said. Kelly initially worried they wouldn't have enough to talk about. 'We're empty nesters, oh no, what are we going to discuss?!' Kelly said of her initial thoughts. But the pain quickly faded: 'The first 48 hours we were leaning into the despair and then we really leaned into the positive side,' she added. 'We got over it!'

and Mark Consuelos ' home has become a clothing-optional space ever since their children moved out. The parents of three revealed their life has become a 'freak show' following the departure of their youngest child as they offered words of comfort to actress Amanda Peet, whose eldest is now moving out for school. While Amanda, 53, began getting emotional at the thought of her child leaving, Kelly, 54, and Mark, 54, assured her there is a NSFW light at the end of the tunnel. 'The first one is like a bit of a shock,' Kelly explained on Monday's episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. 'Each one, the second one it's like no big deal, third one for 24 to 48 hours, you're gonna be like, "Oh my gosh, what have we done? Now it's just us." And then your entire life becomes nudity in the household wherever you want them.' 'It's a freak show,' Mark said. 'Total freak show', Kelly concurred. As fans of the couple will know, the duo have never been shy about candidly discussing their sex life and the unique places they have gotten it on at. In September 2022, Kelly confessed on Watch What Happens Live that she and Mark have been intimate with each other in Andy Cohen's Fire Island rental home. 'That was a day trip!' Andy said in shock at the revelation. 'It was a rental!' Kelly insisted. 'I figured I wasn't desecrating anything that you own,' she added, leaving viewers jaw-dropped. In addition to Cohen's rental, Kelly admitted she and her beau had also had sex on boat, in a public bathroom and even on the set of All My Children. In 2020, the TV personality previously told Cohen that she had Mark had such a healthy sex life because they 'found each other at the right time in our lives.' She added that both her and Mark believe that 'experimentation is fun.'

See the 13 Celebrities Who Wore Their Wedding Dresses Again Years Later

A wedding dress is an investment, so why limit it to just one trip down the aisle? With myriad events requiring celebs to dress in their finest, some have decided their bridal gowns deserve another moment in the spotlight. Whether preserving the original design (like Adrienne Bailon in 2019) or creatively recycling it (as Troian Bellisario did at the 2020 Golden Globes), these sentimental pieces are finding new life. See which stars gave their wedding attire another whirl. In PEOPLE's 2025 World's Most Beautiful issue, Kelly Ripa revealed that her wedding dress from her 1996 Las Vegas elopement with husband Mark Consuelos is still getting plenty of wear. "I took the tags off to wear it to our wedding, and I wear it all the time now as a beach cover-up," she told PEOPLE, adding that the "off-the-rack" piece from Barneys New York cost her "a lot of money" back then. During a 2016 episode of her daytime show with then–co-host Michael Strahan, Ripa explained how she'd always envisioned the dress as a long-term wardrobe staple. "I didn't buy it as a wedding dress. I just bought it because it was really pretty," she said. "I said to myself, 'I bet if I buy this, maybe it will be an investment piece. Maybe I will wear it more than once.' " Queen Camilla has revisited her scallop-edged Robinson Valentine dress and coat — originally debuted at her 2005 civil ceremony with King Charles III — on multiple occasions. The royal gave the outfit a second outing at the National Assembly of Wales in June 2007, updating it with a beige hat and pearl necklace. In April 2025, she marked her and King Charles' 20th wedding anniversary by rewearing it once more during a state visit to Rome. Related: The Best Royal Wedding Dresses of All Time Just weeks after officially tying the knot in December 2024, Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma rewore their wedding-day gowns on their first public date as a married couple at a dinner event during day one of the 2025 Australian Open. Wilson's look was a blush-pink, off-the-shoulder dress, while Agruma wore a white and peach floral frock with scalloped trim on the sleeves and hemline. After 14 years of marriage, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi celebrated the occasion in 2023 with a surprise vow renewal at their home, and de Rossi made the moment even more special by rewearing her Zac Posen wedding gown from their 2008 nuptials. With celebrity guests like Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and officiator Kris Jenner, de Rossi turned heads in her off-white, halter-neck dress — featuring satin finishes and a billowing tulle skirt. Emma Stone surprised fans at the 2022 Met Gala by wearing a never-before-seen look from her closet — one of her wedding outfits! The Oscar winner first wore the Louis Vuitton mini dress with sheer straps and a feathered hem at the afterparty for her 2020 wedding to Dave McCary. "Sartorial revival," the Vuitton Instagram account captioned a photo of Stone standing alongside fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquière and Squid Game star Hoyeon while giving the frock a "second life" on the red carpet. On Nov. 11, 2019, Adrienne Bailon celebrated two milestones: three years of marriage to Israel Houghton and the first-year anniversary of her jewelry brand, XIXI. To honor both, she launched a Happily Ever Wedding collection — featuring pieces inspired by her own nuptials, including a replica of her square-cut engagement ring and rose gold wedding band — and even slipped back into her original wedding dress. For the occasion, the Cheetah Girls star rewore her custom sequined mermaid gown designed by Ryan Patros and Walter Mendez from Ryan and Walter Bridal, with no alterations needed. 'I had it professionally preserved right after the wedding, and it was stored in a box in my glam room,' Bailon told PEOPLE in 2019. 'It was the exact same as it was on my wedding day.' For a 2019 photo shoot with British Vogue, Victoria Beckham stepped back into the strapless corseted Vera Wang ballgown she wore to wed husband David Beckham at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland. For their 25th wedding anniversary in 2024, the fashion designer and now-retired soccer star paid homage to another look from their big day: their iconic purple Antonio Berardi reception outfits. "Look what we found…" the couple captioned an Instagram photo of themselves lounging on thrones. Keira Knightley can't get enough of one Chanel number! The Pride and Prejudice actress wore the grey tulle minidress she wore to marry James Righton five years before their May 2013 nuptials, and again a few months after. Knightley first wore the dress at a pre-BAFTA bash in 2008 beneath a black coat, and again on her wedding day with a white tweed jacket and flower crown, Vogue reported. For the frock's third run, the star styled it over a sheer long-sleeved shirt with delicate embroidery at a December 2013 gala. So nice, she wore it twice! Phillips broke out the strapless ballgown with a waist-defining black bow she wore for her 2007 wedding to screenwriter Marc Silverstein for a special episode of Busy Tonight in 2019. "Yes. I really pulled out my wedding dress from 12 years ago and wore it on my show tonight," she joked on Instagram at the time. "It basically fit except my stupid upper rib cage which grew after my 2 babies. No one tells you about that s---. But babies expand your rib cage so, just be aware." The now-divorced couple share two daughters, Birdie Leigh and Cricket Pearl. Liberty Ross got more mileage out of the silk gown she sported for the beach festivities of her wedding to music mogul Jimmy Iovine in 2016, just two weeks after they said "I do." The model tied her hair back in a ponytail and carried a black clutch at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, proving that some bridal style is just too pretty to stay in storage. Related: Celebrities Who Didn't Wear Traditional Wedding Dresses Look familiar? Alex Borstein had a memorable night in a memorable gown (again!) at the Emmy Awards in 2018. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star won the award for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series in the same silver gown she wore to marry Jackson Douglas in 1999. The actors split in 2014 in a divorce finalized three years later, and Borstein addressed her outfit's history on the Emmys red carpet. "The marriage didn't last, but the dress did, and I wanted to give it new life — so now it's my Emmys dress," she told Glamour magazine at the time. "That's the truth." Business on the top, bridal on the bottom! Troian Bellisario reimagined her wedding dress for a Golden Globes party in 2020, wearing the tulle skirt from her 2016 nuptials to Suits star Patrick J. Adams with a pink top. "Wore half my wedding dress," the Pretty Little Liars alumna joked on Instagram, sharing a photo at home with her husband after the Globes bash. "Home by 11. Eating ice cream."
