Yay To Feminism, But Women Are Drawing The Line At Proposing To Men, After Seeing Bella Thorne Do It
Bella Thorne unintentionally pissed a lot of people off by getting down on one knee for her boyfriend-turned-fiancé, Mark Emms. On Saturday, the former Disney Channel star shared a surprising carousel on her Instagram. She captioned the post, "3 years ago we met, 1 year later he proposed, now 1 year later so did I." It was shocking to fans for two reasons: Not only was she showing herself proposing to Mark, but they were even more confused about the action because Mark had already popped the question to her in May 2023. Related: Bella's IG post kicked off with a short clip of her literally getting down on one knee. Not long after, Mark also joined her on one knee, as she asked him to marry her while presenting him with his very own engagement ring. The mood was set with white and red flowers and lit candles spread out throughout the room. The second video showed a different angle of the proposal, where we see an up-close shot of the initial shock on Mark's face and him later breaking down into tears. It was then followed by the after, including a sweet embrace, as well as photos of the decor. And it ended with photos of them together, celebrating the reality that they both wanted to do a grand gesture to profess their love for each other. Related: Well, the romantic moment was clouded by comments from people who were completely turned off by Bella proposing to a man: Related: But there were also people who respected her decision and wanted others to do the same: Related: Bella noticed the comments, but she didn't take them to heart. In fact, she thought it was funny how "split down the middle" the responses were. "Half of u are like let's not normalize proposing to your partner–– other half is like fuck yeah girl power this is the sweetest!!" she wrote on her Instagram story. Bella Thorne pulls bizarre stunt on her fiance that leaves fans divided: 'This just feels wrong'
Bella Thorne pulled a bizarre stunt on her fiancé Mark Emms that had her fans flooding the comments section of her social media page with mixed reactions. Fans of the 27-year-old actress seemed wholly divided when she shared an Instagram post proposing to her partner — one year after he had already proposed to her. She got down on one knee in the living room of their home, which was decorated with flowers and lit candles. In her caption, she commemorated their anniversary and wrote: '3 years ago we met, 1 year later he proposed, now 1 year later so did I.' The Disney child star — who claimed a major male pop star made up a 'lie' about her after she refused to sleep with him — included photos and videos from different angles of her low-key, at-home proposal. Many of her fans took to the comments section to share their opinions on her popping the question again — as some gushed with praise and others harshly criticized her. During her proposal, the film producer also got down on his knees so that they were eye level. After she concluded her speech, the couple kissed and wrapped their arms around each other as they embraced. In addition to the clips of her proposal, she also included several snapshots of the romantic setting with red and white flowers around the room. Thorne also snapped a photo of her future husband with a wide-eyed, smiling expression and his arms in the air as he posed underneath dozens of red heart balloons. She also shared a selfie of him kissing her cheek as well as a mirror selfie with Emms hugging her from behind. The pair were first romantically linked in August 2022 after meeting at Cara Delevingne's birthday party that year. He asked her to marry him nine months after they started dating. In May 2023, she announced that Emms had proposed to her the day before Mother's Day at her house, popping the question to her with a massive, emerald-cut diamond ring. ‘Stand up': Star's proposal to boyfriend divides
Former Disney Star Bella Thorne has sparked debate by proposing to her British boyfriend, producer Mark Emms... who she is already engaged to. The 27-year-old, who rose to prominence as a child actor on the Disney television show Shake It Up and in movies like Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's Blended, has just gotten down on one knee and asked her boyfriend to marry her. The romantic gesture isn't just surprising in the fact that she's forgone the tradition of the man proposing and popped the question herself, but it is also slightly random, because the pair are already engaged - and have been since 2024. Ms Thorne didn't offer much explanation but posted a clip of her proposing on social media to her millions of followers. '3 years ago we met, 1 year later he proposed, now year 1 later, so did I,' she wrote. There is some music over the top of the video, so you can't hear Mr Emms' response, but he clearly said yes. The 45-year-old even covered his mouth with his hand in shock before dropping to his knees and joining the former Disney star on the ground. It was quite the romantic scene but the proposal really baffled people online. While some commented on how 'sweet' it was and gushed over the couple, many didn't like the idea of a woman proposing to a man. 'Girl stand up. I'm saying this with love,' one advised. 'If he had already proposed. Why did you do it? I'm confused,' another said. 'Okay ladies. Let's not normalise this okay?' One wrote. 'Girl you cannot be serious,' someone else said 'Get up,' someone instructed. One social media user commented that you 'don't ever propose to a man,' another countered, that argument saying everyone should leave Ms Thorne alone and 'let her cook' and propose to her boyfriend. The lovebirds originally got engaged after just nine months of dating. Emms, 45, works behind the scenes as a producer, and owns a bar in New York City and the pair met at model Cara Delevingne's birthday party. Ms Thorne has previously shared on social media that the two have been 'through every emotion together and I love them all equally' and she has told People that the pair have even seen a therapist before marriage. 'We're still really learning each other's traits, and trying to get them right before we get married,' she said. She added that the wedding planning is 'going great' and said it has been a 'wow' experience to find her partner. 'Every day we kind of draw closer. It's really like, 'Oh wow, we're really, and you're my partner.' Let's do this together,' she said. 'So that kind of becomes more real every day and kind of solidifies our partnership more and more every day.'
