Mark Hamill Makes Announcement About 'Star Wars' Future

Mark Hamill, who plays the legendary character Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies, wants to clear the air on a comment he made that led many to believe he is quitting the franchise. Hamill, who starred in one of the most recent installments of the all-time great movie series, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, made it sound like he is indeed entirely done. "But my deal is, I had my time. I'm appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters,' Hamill explained to Chris Agar of While that created a stir among Star Wars fans, Hamill has since clarified his comments. "I don't want to make a big pronouncement like, 'This is my decision.' I'm just saying that it really felt like a conclusion," he explained to Willie Geist on Sunday Today. "My character was given complete closure. I died, ironically, by overdosing on the Force, I might point out." "I saw headlines: 'Mark Hamill quit Star Wars.' Well, let me say, they haven't asked me," Hamill added. "It's not like they said, 'Please come back.' How much can you do with a Force Ghost? I'd like a movie set all in the Force Ghost realm. I could have conversations with Alec your lips to God's ears." Hamill goes on to add that with his character dying in Episode VIII, it's time for the franchise to move into the future. "I once the Skywalker trilogy was over, it was a whole new era for them [Lucasfilm]," he said. "I had my time. I'm really appreciative, but I'm really looking to the future for all these new projects," The franchise has routinely brought back departed Jedi through the use of Force Ghosts, so don't be surprised to see our favorite Skywalker make a cameo in a future film. Star Wars lightsaber could fetch £2 million at auction

Star Wars fans will soon have the chance to get their hands on memorabilia from the movie franchise, but if you are interested, it could set you back a cool £2 million. The Star Wars lightsaber used by super villain Darth Vader will go under the hammer for the first weapon, which was used in the 1980s films, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, will be going up for auction in prop, which is being sold by the auction house Propstore, is estimated to sell for a staggering $1,000,000 to $3,000,000 (£746,000 to £2,241,000). The famous lightsaber was used during the huge duels in both films between Darth Vader, played by David Prowse, and Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill."Genuine lightsaber props from the original trilogy are incredibly rare," Propstore said. "This is believed to be the only hero lightsaber prop with verifiable screen-use to ever be offered at public auction. It is one of the rarest and most sought after "grail" Star Wars props in existence."The lightsaber was made using the flash handle of a vintage British press camera. A wooden rod which was used as a blade during the choreographed fight scenes made the physical on-camera duelling also allowed visual effects artists to add in the famous glow for the final shots. "Nearly 50 years after the first Star Wars film, lightsabers are a universally recognised symbol of the world's most beloved film franchise and are consistently ranked as the most iconic and memorable props of all time," said Brandon Alinger who is the CEO at Propstore. "This lightsaber is simply everything you want it to be - one of the most significant Star Wars artefacts ever. One of the most significant cinema artefacts ever."The prop will go on tour and visit London, Beverly Hills and New York throughout August before the live auction takes place in Los Angeles this tour will also feature other famous film artefacts including Indiana Jones's bullwhip and belt, and Sauron's helmet from the Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship Of The Ring.

BATMAN BEYOND Voice Actor Will Friedle Explains Why He Won't Return as Terry McGinnis - 'I Don't Know If I Could Do It Again' — GeekTyrant

Fans hoping to see Will Friedle return as the voice of Terry McGinnis in a Batman Beyond project might want to temper their expectations. At a recent panel at Animate! Columbus 2025, Friedle made it clear that revisiting the role without the late Kevin Conroy by his side just doesn't feel right. 'If you asked me that question three years ago, the answer would be, 'Oh my god, yes. Get me in front of the microphone right now.' 'Now that Kevin's gone, I don't know if I could do it again. I think they would need to recast both roles. Being Terry and not having him answer as Bruce, I don't think I could do it.' Friedle's comments echo a similar sentiment shared by Mark Hamill, who officially retired from voicing the Joker in 2023. When asked at Fan Expo San Francisco whether he'd ever return to the role, Hamill famously replied: 'Without Batman, crime has no punch line.' Both actors last stepped into their iconic roles for the Crisis on Infinite Earths animated trilogy. Since then, the absence of Conroy, who passed away in 2022 from intestinal cancer at the age of 66, has left a noticeable void in the animated Bat-verse. Conroy portrayed Bruce Wayne for over 30 years across animation, games, and even live-action in The CW's Crisis crossover. His final gift to fans, the autobiographical comic Finding Batman, can be read for free on DC's website. Friedle, best known in the '90s as Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World , carved out a second career as a prolific voice actor with roles in Kim Possible , Transformers: Robots in Disguise , Guardians of the Galaxy , and of course, Batman Beyond . The series, created by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett, ran from 1999 to 2001 and introduced audiences to a new kind of Batman… Terry McGinnis, a rebellious teenager mentored by a much older Bruce Wayne in a cyberpunk Gotham of 2039.
