5 best shows like ‘Untamed' to stream right now
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Netflix's new mystery-thriller "Untamed" has had viewers glued to their screens. Ever since its July 17 premiere, Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith's Yosemite-set mystery has continued to be one of the most popular watches on the streaming service. Every time I've checked, it's occupied the No. 1 spot in Netflix's top 10 shows list. The show sees Eric Bana stepping into frame as Investigative Service Branch Agent, Kyle Turner, who is on the trail of a killer and grappling with his own past. Given the show's popularity and the fact that it's only six episodes long, I wouldn't be surprised if many fans had already worked their way through the entire mystery and were on the hunt for another compelling watch to keep them occupied. With that in mind, I've put together a round-up of five more shows with a similar vibe that I think you should check out next; you can find my list of shows like "Untamed" (and where to stream them) below. The best shows like 'Untamed' and where to stream them 'Bodkin' "Bodkin" might be more of a comedic series than "Untamed," but I think this Netflix series is every bit as compelling a mystery thriller as the streamer's more recent hit, and one that I think "Untamed" fans will enjoy. This seven-part limited series revolves around three unlikely allies — disgraced Irish investigative journalist, Dove Maloney (Siobhán Cullen), American podcaster Gilbert Power (Will Forte), and his assistant, Emmy Sizergh (Robyn Cara) — who are thrown together to investigate a cold case (a trio of decades-old disappearances during Samhain) in the titular Irish town of Bodkin. The trio finds that the people of Bodkin aren't exactly happy to discuss the disappearances, and as they keep digging, the stakes get way higher, and dark secrets start to come to light... Watch "Bodkin" on Netflix now 'Dark Winds' AMC's "Dark Winds" feels like a very natural follow-up, to "Untamed," as it's also currently available on Netflix and follows officers tackling cases in another striking setting (the American Southwest) The 1970s-set series follows Navajo Tribal police officers Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) as they investigate a series of increasingly violent crimes on the reservation — mysteries that see both grappling with their own pasts and that force them to challenge their own spiritual beliefs. Netflix only has the first two seasons at present, but the show was renewed for a fourth installment back in February 2025, so there's plenty more thrills to come. Watch "Dark Winds" on Netflix now 'Department Q' If you missed it earlier this year, then I'd recommend giving Scott Frank's "Dept. Q" a go, as this is another intriguing mystery thriller that will get its hooks into you. If you tune in, you'll be swapping the vast expanse of Yosemite National Park for the streets of Edinburgh and following DCI Carl Morck (Matthew Goode), a no-nonsense English detective with a knack for cracking cases, but not for making friends in his Scottish department. After an investigation gone wrong, he finds himself exiled to the basement and tasked with heading up "Department Q," a newly-formed cold case unit (a thinly-veiled PR stunt) to distract from the force's failings. With the aid of a misfit team with everything to prove, he sets out to uncover the truth behind a missing persons case in textbook Carl fashion: rattling cages and refusing to take no for an answer. Watch "Dept. Q" on Netflix now 'Mare of Easttown' If you're on top of your detective stories from the past few years, then you'll no doubt have come across "Mare of Easttown," Brad Ingelsby's critically acclaimed HBO Max show, which many regarded as appointment viewing when it was on the air. If not, you've got a fantastic, suspenseful small-town crime drama to stream at your earliest convenience. The series follows "local hero" detective sergeant Mare Sheehan (a phenomenal performance from Kate Winslet) as she tries to get to the bottom of a recent murder in the fictional suburb of Easttown, Philadelphia. Watch "Mare of Easttown" on HBO Max now 'The Sinner' I'm rounding out this list with "The Sinner," a dark, unorthodox crime thriller anthology series that sees Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) getting to grips with a series of murder cases and uncovering what drove the culprits to commit their crimes. It's a whydunnit, not a whodunnit. Season 1 kicks things off with Harry investigating a young woman (Jessica Biel) who commits a brutal murder on a family beach trip, trying to understand exactly what could have triggered that killing. It's gripping TV, and should be another solid watch. And with four seasons to stream, it should keep you locked in for some time to come. ‘Untamed' Season 2: Everything You Need to Know About Netflix's Hit Thriller Show
Netflix's Untamed, a new thriller series starring Eric Bana as an investigator in Yosemite National Park, is one of the streamer's most popular shows right now. In the series, Bana plays Kyle Turner, an agent with a troubled past whose investigation of a brutal murder sends him on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park — and within himself. With an 80 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the Netflix series is definitely a success — but will it be returning for more episodes? Watch With Us has the scoop on Untamed season 2. Has 'Untamed' Been Renewed for a 2nd Season? Yes! On Tuesday, July 29, Netflix announced that they were picking up Untamed, originally conceived as a limited series, for a second season. What Has the Creative Team Said About Season 2? Netflix's official publication Tudum published a statement from Bana on Tuesday. 'I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of UNTAMED to life. The response to Season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique,' said the actor. 'I can't wait to take Kyle on his next journey. Massive thanks to Netflix, John Wells Productions, Warner Bros. Television and our fans.' Netflix's No. 1 Show Right Now Is This Wild Mystery Series I Can't Stop Watching Series creators Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith explained that the idea for season 2 came about naturally as they were working on the first season. 'Elle and I envisioned it as a stand-alone, [with just] six episodes,' Mark told Tudum. 'But then the more that we got into it, it was just such a great cast … it was just like, 'Oh yeah, how do we keep this going?'" What Will Season 2 of 'Untamed' Be About? At the end of season 1, Turner left Yosemite, saying goodbye to some of his emotional baggage related to the park. In season 2, the creators say, he will be solving a new mystery at a new national park. 'This won't be the first park he's been in since Yosemite,' Mark Smith told Tudum. 'He's been to a lot of parks. He's been busy, taking on a lot of cases. This will be the latest, and it'll be more impactful for him.' Elle Smith told the outlet that their goal was to put Turner in a park that felt very different from Yosemite. 'Each national park has such a different cultural identity, geographical identity. Being able to explore those places through the case and through Turner's journey is what's so fascinating.' Which Cast Members Will Return for Season 2? Bana's return for season 2 is confirmed, but the rest of the cast's status is uncertain because of the different setting. In fact, Mark Smith told Tudum that meeting a new cast of characters in a new park will be a major element of Turner's arc in season 2. 'Turner was so comfortable in Yosemite,' the writer explained. 'He was the one leading this charge, and people followed him. And now, [we're] putting Kyle on his back foot, making him very uncomfortable … This time we get to follow Turner into a park and let him lead us, and we stumble along with him as he's kind of finding his way.' Fans can rest assured, however, that any new characters will be just as complex as those portrayed by Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt and Lily Santiago in season 1. 'We're going to make sure we populate it with characters that are interesting and help him in ways both good and bad,' Mark told Tudum. Untamed's Lily Santiago Weighs In on Whether There Could Be a Season 2 After Finale Reveal While most of the season 2 cast will be new, Mark also said that they hope to bring back other cast members from the first season. 'My God, we loved our cast and we loved the characters that they brought to life,' he told the outlet. Bringing back cast members would have to make sense for the story, Mark explained, but 'in an ideal world, we would be able to pull something off.' When Will 'Untamed' Return? There's no premiere date yet for Untamed season 2, but keep an eye on this page for updates from Watch With Us! Watch Untamed season 1 on Netflix now.

Eric Bana's National Park-Set Mystery Thriller UNTAMED Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix — GeekTyrant
Netflix has announced that Untamed is officially coming back for another round of gripping wilderness suspense. The streaming giant has renewed the hit mystery-thriller series, starring Eric Bana, for a second season. Created by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, Untamed follows special agent Kyle Turner, played by Bana, who works for the National Parks Service enforcing law in some of nature's most untamed places. The first season saw him pulled into the investigation of a brutal death that forced him to confront dark secrets buried not only in the park, but also deep within himself. I really liked the first season of this show and blazed through it in a couple of days. The story hooked me and it will be interesting to see what the next season will entail. Season 1 also starred Sam Neill and Rosemarie DeWitt, helping anchor the emotionally charged and visually stunning narrative. At the end of the debut season, Turner finally left Yosemite National Park behind, symbolically shedding the emotional weight he'd carried through the years. Season 2 will pick up with Turner venturing into new territory and unraveling a fresh mystery. 'I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life,' Bana shared in a statement. 'The response to Season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can't wait to take Kyle on his next journey.' Interestingly, Untamed wasn't always meant to continue. 'Elle and I envisioned it as a stand-alone, six episodes,' Smith told Tudum. 'But then the more that we got into it, it was just such a great cast … it was just like, 'Oh yeah, how do we keep this going?'' The show premiered July 17 and quickly became a breakout hit, climbing to the No. 1 spot on Netflix's English-language TV chart. That success helped fuel the decision to expand beyond its original limited series format. Smith and Smith will continue serving as co-showrunners and executive producers alongside Bana, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Todd Black, Tony Shaw, Steve Lee Jones, and Cliff Roberts. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television. With Bana returning and a new mystery ahead, Untamed Season 2 is shaping up to be another wild ride through nature's dark corners.

‘Untamed' Rises To No. 1 On Netflix TV Charts After Debut Weekend As Audiences Also Revisit Amy Bradley Missing Persons Case
Netflix audiences were enthralled by the mysterious death of a woman in Yosemite National Park in Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith's Untamed last week. The series debuted on July 17 and quickly racked up 24.6M views, putting it at No. 1 on the English-language TV list. That's quite a strong start — and a rejuvenation of that chart, which was looking a little lackluster last week. This also marks the second No. 1 debut for Mark L. Smith this year, after American Primeval hit the top spot in January. Amy Bradley Is Missing took second place, amassing 12.2M views from July 14 to 20. The Sandman Season 2 also picked up another 3.3M views, good enough for third place. As Deadline previously reported, the series took a bit of a viewership hit from the first season, which finished its second week of availability with around 11.5M views. However, by the third week, the series was sitting at a similar benchmark. It's hard to say exactly what contributed to the decline, though it's likely that the comic adaptation was impacted by the sexual assault and misconduct allegations against Neil Gaiman, who created the comic on which the series is based and developed and executive produces the Netflix series. Gaiman has denied the allegations. Season 2 is the finale season of The Sandman. WWE's RAW maintained its presence as well at No. 5 with 2.7M views. In tenth place this week was Lena Dunham's Too Much, putting up 1.9M views in its first full week of availability. This is probably pretty on par with its debut weekend performance, though it's hard to say, because it didn't make the Top 10 last interval. At that time, its absence from the rankings suggest it pulled in around or under 2M views in its first few days on Netflix, given that was the tally for last weeks No. 10 Ms. Rachel. As for non-English TV, Squid Game Season 3 retained its No. 1 spot for the fourth week with another 7.8M views. On the film side of things, KPop Demon Hunters is still a big hit, staying at No. 1 with another 25.8M views. That's its highest week of viewing, and it's already been on the Top 10 for the past four weeks, indicating that the movie has some legs still. Second place went to Madea's Destination Wedding with 16.5M views, and Happy Gilmore also jetted onto the list at No. 6 with 4M views ahead of the sequel's premiere.
